Wellity, wellity, wellity.

On Thursday night I sprained my ankle (again) playing netball. I spent all weekend hobbling around a music festival and I have to say my poor little anky is not looking so good. It is fat, painful and slightly blue (?).
I have to keep it wrapped for support and have wide feet at the best of times but now the only thing my foot will fit into are my Converse All Stars. They are Navy blue high tops. (It is very fortunate that I bought them last week or I might have had to come to work without a shoe on...).

So, I will be wearing these bad-boys to work for a while. I was wondering if you ladeez can help me. What can I team with these to make them semi-suitable for work? Today I just wore jeans and felt weird all day, I would like to wear something more professional. Usually I feel okay wearing jeans if I'm wearing nice shoes but although I do love my Chucks dearly, they are not my Sunday Best.

If you have any tips or suggestions or experiences of your own please share! Thanks!

Ouch, you poor thing. As a lover of Converse and preference to wear them as much as possible here's my advice:

- 3/4 pants or "corporate shorts"
- anything in grey; will work really well with navy

...but other than that I guess there ain't much you can do to corporate-it-up...unless you just keep trying nice, crisp work shirts with the jeans and well-groomed hair and makeup?

Omg Toastie I love my Chuck Taylors so much (I think i've actually talked to you about this lol). Ok my advice is this - it's scary but just hear me out - check out a few pics of Ellen DeGeneres, because she wears Chucks with a suit nearly every day. She does a sort of sporty/casual look which I think is kind of cute.

I wear mine sometimes with jeans and a buttoned-up cardigan with pearl earrings or a pearl necklace. The pearl jewellery lifts it out of casuality (a new word I invented). It depends on your workplace, but you could wear them sockless (or with little socks) with a sporty sort of pencil skirt and a slimline top, or with tailored 3/4 pants. I think you could even wear them with tweed pants. I think as long as the rest of your outfit is super-groomed and you are very careful not to look scungy, you can get away with them with most outfits.

I bought my newborn god son a pair of navy converse all stars boots. They are tiny and the cutest little things I have ever seen! Sorry this doesn't help with your work attire Toastie.

Was going to suggest this too. Ellen seems to pull them off VERY well!

Hey Toastie.

I dont know if you have seen the ad on TV for the Westfields Whats What ? They put together the Trouser Suit (corporate) with Cons.

Cool that's what I was thinking too. The man style take on the suit.

My daughter (5) has a red pair of Chuck Taylors. We also have a couple of pairs (red & pink) of Fred Bare versions & they have a platform sole!
I really love the little Converse one stars too.

I bought me a new pair of Chucks the other day, they're pink and silver low-cut. Super duper cute! I'm going through yet another major Chuck-loving phase at the mo. Just about the only other shoes I love and own as much are Havaianas!

That's easy Sarah, just buy a pair and get every little kid you know to tread on them. I think my 7 year old god daughter calls it christening the shoes lol!

How funny! Yes, christening. And while they are at it maybe they can throw some things on them, rub some dirt into them.... those sorts of things... :shockedhair:

How are these for walking? I mean, all day on your feet pounding the pavemetn type walking? I don't drive, and I am murder on my shoes, so am always on the lookout.

i'd :hearts: a pair of Masai trainers, but realistically, these seem more practical.

They're very comfy, Rosie - they're just basic trainers. I think you could walk all day in them!

OK, tricky question...

Are volley's as cool as cons????

Toastie

Hmm..

In Canberra a few years ago I definitely would have said yes. Because then there was a Volley's revival type thing happening - you know, they were so uncool they were cool. Now that's over. So, personally, I don't think so. BUT I still wear Volley's all the time - they are definitely cool. I think, though, that Connies are more classic and also (the inevitable) more expensive, so even though they're only like $50 more than Volley's, they are slightly more prestigeous for this reason.

I think you can wear cons with anything you want to. I have a friend who wore hers to her own wedding, complete with puffy white dress!! The groom wore his too. Slightly more alternative couple than average though...

I think that I like volleys better though, just because of the slip-on patterned ones you can get and to me they are more comfortable. And they had volleys a while ago that were covered in silver sequins and I am a sucker for anything shiny!

Mr 12 has pink & black check Volleys, he reckons they are way cooler than the Converse ones he could have had.

Nah, Cons are way cooler than Volleys. You can get away with Volleys if you're like the coolest person ever, but if you're anything less than cool, I just don't think they work.
