It seems like the weekend for bad hair :tears: On friday I bought myself a new blonde colour, loreal feria metallic silver blonde, mind you on the packet the colour does NOT look white, or silver, and where I matched up what my colour should look like, it should a picture of a cool blonde.... My hair is naturally light, and I used to go to the hairdresses always to get the colour done as I like my cool blondes, more pearly, as my hair naturally goes golden blonde. AND the colour said to be specifically for light hair. So first I did my regrowth... and then put the colour all through my hair at the end. The colourant seemed to go kinda purpule-y but the other I did my hair myself (this is only the 2nd time im colouring my own hair, it did that, but all was fine).
When I rinsed my hair :shockedhair: The front looked purple/silver , and the back my normal golden blonde. It did cover my regrowth however (at least), and now that Ive left my colour for a few days to settle, the purplr is gone, but its still really uneven.
Im going to the supermarket to buy the colour I bought the first time (loreal preference in alaska) as it got ride of all my golden blonde bits before, and am hoping it will tone down the white' bits. I only plan to leave it on for about 10min.
Does anyone have any idea what happened??? Maybe I did something wrong??? A friend helped me, so that i wouldnt do it un-evenly (how ironic huh) and will me putting this other colour over the top help???

I am no expert Serena but the fact that the colour appeared to be purple upon application indicates to me that it might have had a very high bleach content.
When colouring your hair you have to remember that the roots are going to be a different colour to your actual length (assuming you have coloured before). This occurs because your roots are regrowing in your natural hair colour and the length is still the colour you last died it (if the colour is permanent).
When you have your hair coloured in a salon you have probably noticed you colourist keeps checking your colour throughout the processing time. They do this to make sure certain sections of your hair aren't processing faster than others as if this occurs you will end up with two different colours (similar to what you have described).
If you have a purple shampoo for blonde hair at home try washing a couple of times with this to see if it will tone the "white: bits down a bit. However I suspect you will probably need to visit a professional to correct the problem.
I hope this helps in some way. I would suggest in future perhaps buying your colour from a professional stylist. You can then ask them what will suit you and they will know what colour will work best in your hair. You can buy the colour and then take it home and apply it yourself. This way you can save on hairdressing costs.

sounds like it "took" to your regrowth very quickly & may have been over processed, i would ring the chicks on the back of the pack , they r normally hairdressers , they should be able to help u & r normally very nice, hope this helps - good luck

Definitely give the advice line a call, they are very helpful and qualified hairdressers.
Purple usually rings reference to a toner, confused about your result! Usually, you would only apply to roots first if your are using the same colour. Are you trying to lighten your hair - if that's the case, although blonding creams are designed for this purpose (and not hair "colours"), I would definitely consult a professional! Good luck, let us know how you go!

Thnx girls for your quick reply... the problem isnt with my roots, or regrowth as I expect the colour to be slightly different, but with parts of my length, as only sections of my hair went 'white'. I wouldn't mind if all my hair was 'white' because then at least it would be even and easy to fix, but only the front section turned out this way which is odd. I'll try to contact the advisory line now (even though its a bit late, hope their open!!!) and hopefully by putting my old colour on top (its not too strong, tones down my goldness and should not make the lighter bits even lighter-according to the box SO I HOPE lol)
I'll let you know how i go!!!! Wish me luck lol ****

 ok, the advisory line was closed wen i called (ok so it is 11pm, and easter...but i had to try) so i went ahead and tried my original colour. I spread it through my hair, and left it on for 10 minutes. I think it has evened out the bulk of my hair. My front sections are still quite light (or very light depending on the light lol i guess its like i had foils???), but because the rest of my hair is more even its not as shocking. I think Ill take your advice and use a purple conditioner, (I have a pearl mask from redken) and im hopefully with time it should darken a bit...until the next time I colour anywayz lol
Love muchly!!!!

Thnx Tim Tam, I hope you can fix your foils aswell! I think Im going to have to accept my hair as it is now, no more chemicals, even though my front bits still look silver... Its a never ending game to how its going to turn out lol

I called the advisory line today, just to see what the nice lady would suggest, and she said I should try shampooing the purple/silver bits with anti-dandruff shampoo, and to leave it on for a few minutes and repeat a few times. She also said the colour probably 'grabbed' the front sections more as it is probly naturally lighter then all my other sections of hair. Rings true to me. I'll let you know how I go with this 'treatment'. Must go and steal some friends shampoo now hehe....

I read recently that anti-dandruff shampoo strips the hair of the toner, so i guess it should help!
How did you go Serena?

I hope you are using a deep conitioning treatment on your double coloured hair. Esp bleached. It can trash your hair.

Well after searching high and low I realised I didnt have a dandruff shampoo at home. It was the middle of the day, and none of my friends were home so i just used a clariffying shampoo about 4 times on the purple bits. It didnt do much, but im guessing its not the same as anti-dndruff shampoo... I could have done it again with the right shampoo but i was a bit worried about shapooing even some parts of my hair that often so I just left it. A week later and its not as shocking as before but still uneven...:( ive decided to wait for about 4 weeks to ive my hair a break and give a new colour a proper chance, but I think ill be waering my hair up alot until then. It sux because usually i take care of my hair so well, and wear it proudly, while now I hate it!!!
