So I went to the hairdresser on Saturday in my quest to find the perfect hairdresser and got half a head of blonde foils through my dark hair (had foils previously just not as blonde).

Anyway, all was good, but when i got home i tied my hair back as I was helping out in the kitchen and I realised that the colour was not placed right up to the roots, so already it looks like i have 4 weeks worth of regrowth, and there was very little foils placed around my face, so when i tie my hair back alot of my natural dark colour shows - not a good look.

Will probably only get the chance to visit the HD (another one mind you) on Saturday. Is there anything i can do in the meantime to lessen the look of my instant regrowth?? I always wear my hair up at work so really dont know what to do :tears: :tears:

Oh I HATE it when they do that!! Sorry to hear it wasn't a good experience :shakehead:
Maybe you should experiment with a different style in the meantime?

Hmm been there before Tim Tam!

Depends on how your foils are done, but maybe try a zig zag part?

I know I asked for thinner foils and that helps with the problem - I think it's hard to get it right up to the roots. The other option would be streaks instead of foils - or where they paint on the highlights instead of foils.

Not sure what you can do apart from wait til the next hair appt or try a few different styles - all else fails a thick hairband should cover it up!

Good luck! :waving:

The top part is ok, the worst bit is around the side of may face/ears, so i cant tie my hair back without the darkness coming through and an inch of regrowth :tears:

I think a headband will come in handy but i cant wear it to work all week (i work in a corporate environment)

Tim Tam, if you are unhappy, why not go back to original hairdresser and show them your "4 week growth" They should at least fix it for you. I dont think you asked them to leave that area without foils!

How about curling your hair ??? i.e. with a curling tong or wet with some sea salt spray in it ??? Maybe by adding some texture to it until you can see a hairdresser could help disgues the 're-growth' look ?

if u don't intend on going back [which i think u should] u could get a red based rinse , [the reason for this is to fill in the red as this was removed when your hair was bleached , if u do not do this the other dye will not adhere to your hair] ,leave on for 5 mins & then get a semi in close to your natural colour to use over the top
u will need to be careful with 2 things 1st - ring the ph no. on the back of the hair dye pack to confirm what i have told u & to check for chemical reactions [or a good p/macy will do this for u] 2nd make sure that u read directions before appling the semi colour ,does it need to be on dry hair ? if so u will need to blow dry your hair in between the colours

if u choose this option u will not be able to ask for a fix up

good luck

crap forgot to say just do this on the foils

Tim Tam,
The Zig Zag part works a treat every time. You simply get a comb with a long tail on it and make a part using a zig zag instead of a straight line. This hides any regrowth and makes all your hair blend in together.

I would definitely go back to the salon and tell them you are not happy. After all you have paid good money for a service that hasn't been provided properly.

I have had the same problem myself in the past and I have gone back to the salon and they were very sneaky and tried to tell me that they can't go too close to the roots as the dye will come out blotchy. This is a total load of crap.

I have a full head of blonde foils every 6 weeks and my foils are as close to the scalp as you can get.

When i was blonde i had foils right up to the roots everytime as it just looks like you have regrowth otherwise, i would go back. The just havent done their job properly.

I would go back if you can to the hairdresser. There is a product by Clairol called Root Toch Up. That would be my first port of call in a DIY scenario and maybe get someone to help you.

You could use any left overs to create a foil around your face by taking a section of hair paralelle to ur hair line, then using a tail comb to weave in and out of the section so you come out with a hit and miss foil as oppossed to a solid splice. and wrap it up some alfoil simillar to the hair dressers.

Good luck and let us know how you go!

Thanks for all your advice.

I have been playing around with my hair today together with a friend and trying to style it in ways that doesnt show the roots of my hair around the sides of my face too much. I will also wash it tomorrow - or wednesday and wear it curly (agree this is also a good way of masking the regrowth).

The HD did not ask me how i wore my hair - which in hindsight is strange as thinking back, alot of my other HD's have asked this question, or gone to the root in any case!

I know i should go back there to get them to fix it, but when i am unhappy with something, i dont really want the same people to try and fix it - especially if they dont go to the root, and by trying to fix my hair they make it worse! Its such a shame too as the place i went to was such a gorgeous place :shakehead:

I will try make an appointment next weekend with another hairdresser (amongst my million of wedding things to do)

Heya TimTam, so have you booked your appointment? How has this last week been with having to hide your hair??? Well with styling it differently...I know I find it hard to style my hair myself in a new way, and especially if its supposed to be up, without it being boring or a total mess! Let us know how you went! :)

Tim Tam, I would be so annoyed if I was you. You could at least make them give you a refund. Theres's nothing worse than paying out your hard earned cash for a poorly performed service.

I would make sure you find a good hairdresser before your wedding and stick with them.

Still havent managed to fix my hair :redcheeks: :tears:

Been wearing it "messy" and curly to disguise the botchiness of the foils. The more i look at it the more i hate it!!!

Really hoping to go on Saturday and sort my mop out. So frustrating! I have no time to do these things anymore with the wedding, and house hunting, and work! Its crazy in my head right now! :penguin:
