No need to be embarrassed here girls. I am sure everyone will get a right royal chuckle out of our responses so go ahead and spill, what was the first fragrance you remember owning or wearing?

I remember my Nanna (bless her) bought me a bottle of tweed when I was around 12. I thought I was so sophisticated having my own bottle of Tweed. A year or two later I graduated to Panache and then moved on to Charlie. When I turned 16 Red Door was the go and for my 18th birthday I got a bottle of poison.

How hysterical now when I think back to what I wore. I can't imagine what people must have thought when I walked past them.

My nanna bought me a teeny tiny bottle of the very old-school German Eau De Cologne 4711, which apparently has been around since the 18th century. I loved the history behind it though not the smell itself!

In my 'tweens' I had Revlon Unforgettable, followed by Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds, Chloe Narcisse and Coty Vanilla Fields. I can't wear any vanilla scent now, reminds me of the bad old days!

Going back a while here girls, not sure if the old brain cells are supporting me here. I do distinctly remember the Body Shop Ananaya (?spelling). Must have been a bottle of Charlie in there too. "Graduated" quickly to Chloe, Beautiful, Jardin de Bagatelle (a Guerlain fragrance) and believe it or not Chanel No 5. Always felt very grown up. Thanks for allowing me to relive my first fragrance days, though apart from the No 5, wouldnt wear any of these now (just way too floral for me now!)

Oh lord, I wore Charlie too :chuckle: I used to love Yardley White Satin. :vomit: From there I went to Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers, then to Calvin Klein Escape.

Ah, how could I forget TBS? I went through gallons of White Musk in high school. First fragrance that really grabbed me though was Jean Paul Gaultier Classique. But again, I can't wear it anymore.

Memories...like the corners of my mind...misty, water-coloured memories...of the way...we were (or should I say wore). Have I done this joke already? If so I apologise, twice!

Ahahaha....well as I have shared before, I adopted a bottle of CD Poison from my Mum when I was 13, and I finished the whole bottle too! Like you PCC, I can't imagine what people thought of me when I walked past, given that even today I think Poison is too heavy and grown-up for me! After Poison, I went on to a quite lovely chemist fragrance called "Jasminetherapy" by the Healing Garden and wore that for a few years. In year 12 I bought a bottle of Babydoll, so I suppose that was my first self-chosen high-end fragrance.

I think I got my bottle from one of those warehouse clearance places.
Strawberry Shortcake is back in now so you may see it in toy shops. I'll let you know if I see it.

White Musk by The Body Shop. After that it was Flower by Kenzo. Flower by Kenzo I bought and wore just because all the other girls were wearing Baby Doll and things and I wanted to be different and rebelious, lol. It was far too heavy for a 15 year old.

Nobody has mentioned Impulse yet! Well none of you went to my high school. I favoured the black one with its musky/oriental smell.

Ohh I had the Avon Strawberry Shortcake collection when I was very young.

Then I progressed to the Impulse sprays early on in the teenage years.

Then for a birthday my first perfume was So? the red one too I think, and then that was replaced by Red Door - my mum gave them to me... can't stand them now but it was all the rage!

Me too. And there were so many - seemed like my friends and I bought a new one every week! Impulse reminds me of the PE changerooms at school. You walk in, instant asthma attack :chuckle:

OMG I think I have episodes of PTSD whenever I smell Impulse, it reminds me of those hot sticky February afternoons in grade 7 when all the girls would douse themselves in it (or Australis - Vanilla Kisses was a favourite if I remember correctly!) before going back into the classroom after lunch!

Replace Impulse with TBS White Musk and it was a similar scene in high school - I think 4 out of 5 girls wore White Musk (it's lovely though)!

The only Impulse I was ever obsessed with was Incense - in fact I still like it today. I have horrible memories of the girls changing rooms in Yr 8 and 9 with a cloud of body spray rising to the roof.

The Body Shop FUZZY PEACH!!!!!!!!!! My God I loved that. Actually maybe it was Dewberry first and then Fuzzy Peach? Either way - I was crazy about both of them!

Oh Medusa, I use to have a Strawberry Short Cake Doll that gave strawberry smelling kisses (the new ones just aren't the same). I loved it and was devastated when my brother decapitated her with his tomahawk axe thingy! I love anything that smells sweet even if it is sickly I would use it for a room spray. Send you daughter to my place to play with her perfume!

Impulse was the mega hit at my high school. After phys ed our locker room would smell toxic from all the different scents the girls would have sprayed.

One day we caught the boys from our brother private school looking through an air vent into our change rooms whilst we were changing. Being Tall was an advantage for me because I climbed up on a chair and sprayed my good old impulse into their eyes. You should have heard them sream!:chuckle:

Every shopping day with my Mum I would choose a different colour of Impulse. I think I went through them all. What's scary is that I used the impulse as a deoderant, but now days I think they call it a body spray. I can't believe I went through my early to mid teens not using a roll on deoderant!

What's even scarier is I believed Impulse was the grand royale of fragrance I thought it was the best money could buy. I even gave it to a friend as a birthday present once:chuckle: !! What's even worse is that she loved it!

jaime
03-04-2007, 06:11 PM
Yeah I think you'll find quite a few girls used it as deodorant! I know I did. But the girls couldn't possibly have stunk because they were constantly applying it.

PCC I was looking at www.perfumania.com and they have the Strawberry Shortcake perfume, and there's also a Sleeping Beauty one and a Shrek 2 one! Not sure if they ship to Australia though...

The "Strawberry Shortcake for Girls" (by Strawberry Shortcake, hehehe) contains, apparently, a blend of Amber, Marine and Oriental - weird!! It's a combo I've never heard of - especially for little girls lol.

My first perfume was Yardley April Violets (I still love the scent of violets), but when I was really young (pre-teen) I loved anais anais (my older sister had one), and that one with a bottle with a swan embossed on it (Vanderbuilt?) I loved that one! I also loved fresh perfumes- 4711 and norsca deodorant. These days I cannot wear leafy green scents at all. My first 'grown up' perfume was Paris. My Mum recieved a bottle as a gift but did not like it and I loved it so it was mine! That was when I was about 17. I am 26 now and I still love Paris! Aside from Paris, these days I also wear Vera Wang. I am very picky with perfumes and do not like to wear too many.

Oh my god - Impulse - just the thought of my old girls high school change rooms is bringing on an asthma attack!! I too loved the incense one, and there was an orangey looking one too that I liked, and we all used to have about 6 in our school bags at any one time, so we could swap them... :shakehead:

The first perfume I ever bought was Gucci Envy, I think it was more because I liked the ads than anything else, but I ended up giving it to my mum in the end and I bought Ralph Lauren Romance instead, which was much better on me.

I was about 8 or 9 when I received my first perfume for my birthday.. I don't remember the brand, however I remember clearly seeing the word "Toilet" (Eau de Toilette) on the box and was horrified, "You bought me toilet spray??"
Everyone else was in fits of laughter :p

I can remember playing with Mum's perfumes when I was little. I used to love the Obsession bottle and I loved the Opium bottle too. Mum used to have the Opium body powder and I remember putting the powder with the huge powder puff all over my face LOL. I think I ended up being given a small (probably GWP) bottle of White Linen, probably to keep me out of her perfumes.
