I have really thick hair & am wondering what the best method would be to try to create Jen Anistons new hair style. It looks really casual like she just walks out the door that way.

Hey gals. Had a thumb through some mags and found some tips...you may have tried these methods already but if not, see below.
* For naturally wavy hair: towel-dry hair and spritz with a salt-spray (I like KMS or Bumble & Bumble). Put your hairdryer on the lowest setting with the diffuser attachment (if you didn't chuck it, like I did!) and scrunch gently as you dry. Rake a bit of texture wax through to define waves.
* Straighter hair:
A) towel-dry and spritz with a salt-spray. Twist a large section of hair into a messy "ringlet", making sure you don't twist too close to the scalp. Hold and blowdry. Repeat!
B) blowdry using a round brush. Section and use a large-barreled curling iron to create soft waves (make sure you don't curl too close to the scalp). Shake out and spritz with a texture spray or work through a light, textured wax.
C) spritz in some texture spray and blowdry using a round brush. Section and roll up with large velcro rollers. Leave on for about 30 minutes. Blast rollers for a further 5 minutes with hairdryer, then remove and shake out. Finish with a light styling cream.

Hello,
I recommend if your hair is very think to use a product such as the Hamadi Hair cream for protecting and conditioning your hair, by using the ionic flat iron you can use it wet or dry, once your hair is smoothed out reapply the cream to protect and mositurize before you use a 1 inch curling iron, the TRICK is you have to just apply to the middle of your hair do not wrap the ends around the curling barrel, and tap it just enought for a bend you do not want a curl to achieve this look... IF YOU WANT THE FINISHED more smoothed out loose wave once you have decided on the wave take sections, for the final touchs reapply the cream on the ends for that extra shinny glow...
if your hair is not so thick dont use the flat iron start with your hair dry or wet and do the same thing with the curling iron...
or the last most simpliest is when your hair is wet apply the Hamadi Hair Cream or the Hamadi Shea Leave in, put thru out all of your hair, and let it dry naturally dont touch it with your hands until it is just about dry then massage your scalp with your fingers and create volume from the scalp up... that way you will not create flyaways with your hands.. by touching it too much...
good luck keep me posted..

Oh I was so impressed with myself the other day!
I FINALLY worked out how to use my straightener to create curls... and in doing so once I ran my fingers through it to break them up so they weren't so 'structured' I sorta got the casual wave thing going on... obviously it would never look as good as jen's but hey i'm getting there! :clapping:

Oh yeah, how could I forget to mention the ghd??? I did this for the first time last week too nattieb, and if I do say so myself it looked pretty darn good! So handy to be able to use the straightener for both. It is excellent for the more 'roughed up,' flicked-out curl.

There are a few step-by-step guides on the ghd website (http://www.ghdhair.com/index.php?c=au). They recommend their products, but I'm sure you could experiment with others.
For the beach look:
1. Wash and condition your hair with the ghd products from step 1 which are most suited to your hair type
2. Apply the ghd thermal protection spray most suited to your hair type, from step 2
3. Apply ghd obedience cream, from step 3, for frizz-free styling
4. Roughly blow-dry your hair, using your fingers to lift the roots
5. Section your hair horizontally, from ear to ear
6. Take random sections of hair and, using the ghd salon styler or ghd original ceramic styling iron, create loose flowing curls by turning the iron towards you and pulling slowly through. By alternating the way the iron is turned, a random curl pattern is achieved. Repeat this throughout all sections to achieve a soft curl pattern throughout your hair
7. Section your hair as before
8. Apply ghd sea spray, from step 3, liberally to your hair, concentrating on the mid-lengths and ends; scrunching, roping and turning the hair to maintain the shape and curl pattern. Repeat throughout the sections of hair, alternating the direction in which the hair is roped
9. Finally, add more ghd sea spray to the finished rope
10. Let the hair dry naturally, or scrunch and rope the hair as above and dry with a gentle diffuser.

I find it quiet hard to curl my hair using my GHD. I always end up with straight mid-lengths and kinked out ends ! It drives me insane.
Im jealous that you filnd this technique so easy BuBBleS ! :p
