More specifically, bootleg jeans. Can I keep wearing them or are they horribly out? I look sooo bad in skinnies (I have saddlebags - thanks Mum and Grandma!) that I just cannot fathom wearing them. Slouchy man-style jeans just don't look that great on me either - in order for them to look good they have to be kind of snug around the behind, and then they just look weird because they're slouchy everywhere else. I guess I could go straightleg jeans that are sort of bootleg-but-not. But anyway, what I want to know is, are bootlegs completely out and am I a tragic if I keep wearing them?!

Bootleg is a pretty classic cut I reckon. In fact I am wearing some today! I think they're fine so long as they're not TOO bootleggy at the bottom. My Citizens of Humanity Kelly jeans are my favourite cut ever, I have 2 pairs so I am going to keep wearing them :) they are almost straight but not quite.

as long as they aren't flares (Oh, I can't believe this was once a fashion trend!!) then wear them! You are always better to wear something that suits you, not just something that is in fashion. So many people make that mistake...

I say wear what suits you and what you are most comfortable in.

I wear my Mavi and Sass & Bide bootlegs all the time. They aren't a huge bootleg, just enough to balance me out.

Plus only those super skinng model type girls can do the skinnyleg I reckon - and really, how many of us look like them? :ashamed:

Bootleg had better not go! My legs look horribly disgusting in straight-leg and I will never wear them. I feel more comfortable in bootlegs, they have a good knack for making the legs look slimmer.

I agree with everything everyone else has said. Bootleg is definitely a classic (but not scary-flarey). I always end up buying this style; I think it's flattering on most body shapes. My favourites are my Seven A-pockets and Sass & Bides.

Wear what suits you I reckon, particularly when it comes to jeans. Finding a good pair of jeans is like finding the Holy Grail.

I can't wear skinnies either: legs too stumpy and I've got back!

If bootleg was out, I would have nothing in a denim pant to wear:sunnies: . This style is the very best on me anyway, and for the record, unless you are my 14 year old sister, who has no hips, skinny jeans are VERY hard to pull off, and I dont find them flattering on most (the best I've seen is skinny jeans with a long hip length box shirt and knee length boots...which incidently, you could probably pulloff with bootlegs.....just my opinion... )

I'm glad other people find skinnies horrifically hard to wear - it seems like it's all anyone's wearing now. I feel like screaming "Thighs, people!!! Have we all forgotten that we have thighs?!!!!". LOL even when I try them on, the actual feeling of fabric tight around my calves makes me shudder.

Gee you're brave Ozkat, I wont even attempt to try them on!! :chuckle:

I'm with you - I feel like the only person who doesn't wear skinnies!! They are EVERYWHERE!!! I like straight-to-boot-cuts like Kate described. Not too much flare at all. Not too skinny. Perfect.

One of the reasons I like skinny jeans (it took me a while to get into them though - too many bubblegum jean memories!) is that you don't have to hem them. I'm short & jeans are always a nightmare for me as they are always way too long. If you get them taken up they look taken up as the stitching never matches & sometimes it can ruin the cut of the leg. If I just chop them off they look really scruffy a while. With Skinnies the can just gather at my ankles without creating bulk or I go retro & do the big cuff fold up.

That's funny, because one of the reasons I like skinny jeans is because it's easier to find a pair long enough for me (I have very long legs). With bootcut type jeans they must be touching the ground (or very very close to) to look good, but with skinny jeans you can get away with a little less.

Don't even get me started on people whose bootcut jeans are too short!!!! Urgh if I see the bottom part of the back of bootleg jeans too far from the ground, it makes me want to throw up!!

I love love love skinny jeans! :hearts:
I'm fairly tall, 174cm so I find them a good length, but some still bunch around the ankles, but I don't mind ...
I have hips & thighs but still can wear them... the trick is finding a brand & fabric that is flattering, just like any other style of jeans...
I have quite a few pairs. I find Mavi to be the most flattering. They make my butt look good... :spin: Oh & sass & bide are great too...
Actually I bought another pair of skinny jeans yesterday. Nobody brand, & they're navy... was a bit reluctant at first, but the fabric feels so soft & they are so dark they are nearly black...

Good luck to the ladies that can wear skinny jeans!
I however, am personally cheering the latest trend of higher waists and wide legs in both jeans and pants. The sailor pants suit me much better than cigarette legs and the higher waists are more flattering for me since I am pretty much straight up and down, with little waist line, so these create them for me. I've found the same in jeans..

I'm finding it so hard to find a pair of blue bootlegs that aren't stretch! I love stretch normally but I have about 10 pairs! This is for more casual, not dressy. Does anyone know a good place to buy some? I normally go to Just Jeans because they do size 11, but all they seem to have is stretchy at the moment.:(

Jaime I always like Jeans West, they're a good price and I have a couple of great pairs from there. Not sure if they have them in a rigid fabric though. You know where I got my best non-stretchy dark bootlegs? Don't laugh - Rivers! They are the best shape, cut, fabric, everything. Absolutely non-stretchy, so they don't go "soft" after you've been wearing them for a while. It always pays to look where you wouldn't normally go! LOL as embarassing as it is, I actually have quite a few nice things from Rivers - knit cardigans and the like.

Hmm they have a River's clearance shop in Esperance. I might go have a look next time I'm in there.

Rivers seem to have good quality stuff, but I really don't like their stores, there is just something about them!

I don't like the stores either Jaime. I remember when Rivers started like ten years ago, they had really nice small stores with gorgeous lighting and wood floors, and their stuff was on the expensive side. Now I only ever see clearance stores, which are pretty disgusting and messy.

Bootleg jeans are classic. I personally don't own any other kind. I love my bootlegs and think they look amazing with a great pair of heels.

My pick too PCC! Love em with boots with a stacked heel.
