I thought we already had this thread but it seems there are 2 for other catorgories so I have created this one dedicated to skin care products.

Today I finally got the Ultraceuticals products I've been hanging out for. I got the Even Skin Tone Serum & the ACE eye & lip treatment Serum along with the GWP Ultra A treatment. Can't wait to get stuck into it! I got it from DJs & the SA was really helpful & gave me a stack of samples to try as I have never used this line before. DJs also have a promo where not only do you get the GWP but also an in store facial.

Would love a review of the lip and eye serum M, when you've had a chance to use it for a few days...

Today I bought the Alpha H oily/acne starter pack from Adore for a friend. I've been raving about it for ages. Hope she likes it too!

Didnt buy anthing today but I am just loving the Ultraceutical ACE treatment cream (soon to be Ultra A cream) so much I am using it morning and night! Want to get more of this amazing Australian range when I have at least made an attempt at finishing off (some!) stuff from my overflowing drawers and cupboards (and when the back balance allows!).

I actually recieved this yesterday, but what the heck! I got Dermadoctors Born to be Mild cleanser; this is "ultra-mild, soap free... gentle, non irritating, non-drying and ph balanced." I was ecstatic with the sample of this I got from Adore, it really helped to soothe the redness around a couple of pimples that I had, and my skin looked much clearer after using it. Dermadoctor recommend using it at least twice a week for best results, so I will work this in with my Ultraceuticals regime now that I've finished up me Dr Haushka's cleanser. :glee:

BPJ, why do they recommend at least twice a week? What are the ingredients in it? Do they say you can use each day?

Ah, not sure about the "use at least twice a week" Luisa but the ingredients are:
Active Ingredient Pyrithione Zinc 2%.
Other Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Polyquaternium-7, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Allantoin, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben.

Does anything here indicate why the "at least twice a week" thing?

Pretty much your standard ingredients apart from the Pyrithione Zinc. This cleanser is designed for itching skin and associated seborrheic dermatitis (otherwise known as dandruff) . Is this why you chose it? Very interesting cleanser, never come across something like this before. It has 2% PZ wheras dandruff shampoos have 1%. Go easy, use twice a week and keep away from your eyes. Let us know how you find it.

I just purchased the A'kin Rose and Geranium Cleanser and Toner in one, and Trilogy's Ultra Hydrating Mask.

I Have tried both, and the cleanser is beautiful. A soft balm like texture that gows on smoothly and feel lovely when I massage it onto my skin. I wasnt wearing much makeup yesterday, but I could see it remove the remnants of my foundation and also my mascara (which is the ModelCo waterproof - which BTW, I absolutely love and highly recommend!!):tears: . It smells slightly of rose, but its a hard one to really detect, I smell more the shea butter that is in it. It's a luxurious cleanser that I've really enjoyed using - and at $25 for a 250ml bottle, it's a bargain to boot!
:sunnies:
For the trilogy masks - I didnt have any high hopes to speak of, I wanted to try this brand as it has a bit of a cult following overseas, and being fairly local (NZ I think), I wanted to give it a go. I didnt have a hydrating mask, so I decided to buy this one, and it has rosehip in it also, along with some other impressive ingredients that I cant recall right now! I massaged it in after the cleanser (my face was getting a real pampering by now!), and this smells stronger - the lavender is the culprit here - but its ok overall. I left it for about 15 mins as suggested, and it washed off nicely. My face was definately smoother afterwards, but I couldn't detect much in the way of extra moisture, but then again, its not really as issue for my - only my slightly dry cheeks which haven't been dry for a while either, due to my current regimen.:ashamed:
I used the masque on my hands afterwards as a fill in hand cream, and this has done a brilliant job of softnening the backs of my hands and cuticles.

I also bought the Trilogy hydrating mask recently but have not used it as yet. Thanks for the run-down and the hand tip!

Its not soap free if it contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate that is purely a foaming agent used in all soap products. There are more natural foaming agents that are less drying on the skin, one is derived from Coconuts. If you have dry itchy skin I would personally stay away from anything that contains this ingrediant. If you check all your foaming products you will see that it is usually the 2nd ingrediant listed, which means that it has the 2nd highest percentage of product. The list them in order of concentration.

Luisa, I have found that every now and then, the skin around pimples on my chin gets red and irritated and can be itchy. When I tried a sample of this product, it cleared the irritation up almost instantly, which is why I decided to purchase the product (so not sure about the dandruff thing?). Do you have any idea why the PZ is 2%? Should I be concerned by this at all? I'll let you know how I go with this after I have been using it for a bit longer (only twice a week though!).

Thanks Medusa, I seriously don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you wonderful people to educate me about product ingredients. I have found this product to be helpful thus far, but will keep in mind the level of Sodium Laureth Sulfate (maybe that's why they suggest to use twice a week?). I didn't realise that ingredients were listed in order of concentration, so thanks for that.:waving:

Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES) is often derived from coconut and is actually a detergent, not a soap - soap is generally fat-based and very alkaline. Some people do find SLES irritating in high concentrations, in which case they should use sulphate-free cleansers, but most people can use it with no problems (myself included).

www.cosmeticscop.com has excellent information on cosmetic ingredients, if you ever want to research what's in your products:
soap. True "soaps" are regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and are not required to list their ingredients on the label. They are solely made up of fats and alkali. Many bar cleansers are not soaps, but contain synthetic detergent cleansing agents and various thickening agents that keep the bar in its bar form. Most soaps are considered very drying and potentially irritating for skin due to their alkaline base (having a pH over 8). Bar cleansers can be more gentle than bar soaps, but are more often than not still drying, depending on their composition (Sources: Cutis, December 2001, pages 12–19; Archives of Dermatologic Research, June 2001, pages 308–318; and Dermatologic Clinics, October 2000, pages 561–575).

sodium laureth sulfate. Can be derived from coconut; it is used primarily as a detergent cleansing agent. It is considered gentle and effective

Thanks Kate, I am always interested to read info on ingrediants.

3 of us in my family are sensitive to Sulfates, resulting in skin irritations. It is such a widely used ingrediant that at first I found it very difficult to find alternaltives. But they :waving: are there. So if like me you are on the hunt for such products drop me a line, I'm happy to recommend products that I have tried.

Yes, thankfully there are lots more sulfate-free items available now for the sulfate-sensitive! Akin/Alchemy in particular have some great products, have you tried those Medusa? MOP's C-System haircare is great too.

Today I got myself another GWP Ultra A from Ultraceuticals!! Aren't I greedy! I liked it so much that I couldn't resist getting another for the stockpile. So this time I got The Ultra C 23% treatment cream (at $108 it THE most expensive product I have ever bought!) but it sounds great. I am saving it for Winter as I am still easing my skin into AHAs. I also got the supplements, Ultra Age Defiance, $40.
I got it from an Ultraceuticals store. I have never seen one before, they also do treatments but its moving. :( So heads up anyone near Mosman there headed your way.
Hopeing to sneak this reciept in with the pharmacy ones for tax :p Fingers crossed! ;)

After testing about 1000 Bronzers I have finally purchased one - M.A.C. in Golden $39.

Medusa, check with Allison if you should perhaps be incorportating this new Vit C cream with your Ultra A serum AND the AHA's. Could be an effective and result producing combination!

PS I love the serum too, mega fantastic!

Medusa

I have only started using Even skintone, a Vit C serum & Ultra A in the past couple of weeks so don't want to freak my skin out. I have alternating them but am now ready for layering. I am a little sensitive too & my skin does tingle a bit on application. But not with Ultra A though, I think that's why I like it.
The SA said the C cream is quite rich & would be a good night cream for the winter months. She also said that the actives stay in the skin for 48hrs so I would just use it every 2nd night.

Tip: she also said that you really do need to massage in those serums not just apply them to get the best results.

On Friday a package arrived for me from London from one of my best friends who has recently moved there. I couldn't stand hearing about Stella McCartneys Care skincare range any longer so I got a selection of products from her range. It's so exciting Luisa. I haven't used my Care products yet but I did use the Eve Lom cleanser tonight and it is amazing. I got the 200ml jar wich came with 2 muslin cloths. Thanks Luisa! You know what? I purchased the Nivea Extra Gentle Eye Make up Remover because of you! I read in some threads that you are using the nivea make up remover so I decided to buy one, (I will be needing this cos this Saturday I will be attending a wedding... so incase I make a mistake I can remove it easily with the eye make up remover! and it's my first time to put a coloured mascara and gel eyeliner! hehehe...) I hope it works on me! really admire you of being so helpful to other adorables (like me!)... thanks again!:)

I had a big spending day yesterday at DJs...

I also got 4 pairs of patterned stockings at Myer, and got a gorgeous pair of brown leather shoes from Jigsaw ordered in from interstate - but at $250 I am not sure if I should buy these?!

I know it's off topic, but I always measure the price of the shoes by the wear I'll get out of them..so if they are great to wear regularly and will last a while and you love them, then it's worth it I say!!;)

Yesterday I ordered the Alpha H Luminescent and Alpha H 'other' eye cream (can't remember what it is called already!). I also ordered the Dr H toner which I've heard so much wonderful stuff about - at over $50 for a toner, it would want to be great!!

And I am off to Sydney on Monday morning for work - so I asked for it to be delivered to my hotel so I get a treat! Hahahahaha

OKAY!

Today I bought:

Ultraceuticals Clear Treatment Gel
Ultraceuticals Ultra Moiturising Cream (for my mum for mothers day)

With those two I got a GWP which consits of:

Ultra Clear Treatment Gel (more! yippee!)
Even Skintone Sreum Gentle Formula
Ultra C Sheer Facial Cream
Protective Daily Moisturiser
Ultra Hydrating Gel

Also the (FANTASTIC!) SA gave me a sample of the Ultra Milk Cleanser. Another shoutout here to the fabulous U/C girl at David Jones in Canberra. She was absolutely amazing.

I'm pretty damn excited.

You must try the Ultra Milk Cleanser. I didn't think it'd work for me (combo erring on the oily side, gah) but it is such a great product, you don't need much. I use it in the morning, and the Gel Cleanser at night to take off makeup. I am one happy camper.

What have you used from them Fusspot? The cleanser really is great. Took a bit of getting use to how it foams as its SLS free, its a bit runnier than you would expect and have to make sure theres no oily residue on your hands to get it to foam up nicely.

Overall highly reccommend, its cleans beautifully and my skin feels really healthy and clean but not stripped after using it.

I had to overcome my fears as living in Tassie I just couldn't get the brands I wanted. Now I am on a first name basis with just about every counter in the business. Hi Medusa,
The Kit sight is very frustrating indeed. I have been told by the girls at Melbourne Myer Kit that a new online shopping site is in the works. Here's what I do, granted it is the long way around doing things but if your despeate (as I always am) you will go to any length to get your products:

Find out all the brands that Kit Stock then go to the individual brand sites. Decide what you want and then e-mail Kit and ask what the price for each item is and if the product is in stock. When they e-mail you back with the deatils decide if you want them and the ring them up and order!

I know most people couldn't be arsed mucking around like this but such is my obsession with all things beauty I will go to any lengths to get my products! Now there's commitment and obsession for you!

One thing I must say about Kit is that they do give fabulous samples. They are very generously sized and come in reusuable little pots. An eye cream sample from Kit is enough to last 30 days and masks etc provide enough for easily 3-4 masks.

Most Pharmacies keep the range Medusa but maybe not all the specials. Myer also stock them.

After using my Neutrogena Daily cleansing scrub for over a week now, I'm so impressed with it that I went out a bought the Clear Pore Cleansing Cloths (exxcellent! I love the soft side for removing makeup/gunk and the rougher side for exfoliating the skin, leaves my skin so clean and soft) and the Skinclearing cleanser/mask (has salicylic acid and natural clay minerals), which I haven't used yet but am looking forward to using this as both a mask and night time cleanser. I'll post a review of the scrub soon and the newbys in a couple of weeks. :hearts:

Well yesterday I got Jemma Cosmtics Fiji Glow. It was free from Cleo magazine :spin: (not that I read that magaine...) Anyway it's a body oil spray. I used it yesterday after my bath, it was ok. I can't compare it to anything else cause I have never used an oil body spray but it's smelt nice and didn't stay greazy long which is good and made my legs soft

Dry oil isn't greasy like regular oil. Gives your skin more of a sheen rather than an oil slick.

Today in the groceries (what a way to buy your skincare :redcheeks:) I got me soem garnier Nutritionist Night cream.

Our very own Beauty Editor recommended this in an article on Beauty on a Budget, and as I quite like the Garnier skincare, I thought I'd give it a burl......... I have the purple one currently, and it's just not giving enough to my skin in these cold months.

I got the night one rather thn the day as the day has an SPF in it, I prefer seperate sunscreen - had too many problems in the past with breakouts when I use moisturisers with SPF.

Cost me a grand total of $13 and change! :clapping:

What a shop Celestefay! :penguin::penguin: I just tried the Face and body shine, first on my hand to see it and then on my face around my brow area, but it doesn't seem to highlight like I thought it would? I am surprised because none of her other products have let me down, if anything I have found the opposite. So I'm a bit dispointed with this, but will continue to experiment with it. Yeah it was a big shop. Ooops.

I found the same thing - was really disappointed, and the gel in the bottle is a bit 'eeew' looking, although I do like the look of the 'beads' in there. I would definitely go the Ultraceuticals mineral foundation over the Tromborg one. Definitely. It provides a better coverage I think.

So yesterday I got a couple of things from the new Beauty & the bees store in Hobart.

* The Honey & Coconut Oil Moisture Cream Facial Cleansing Bar - I was a bit sceptical when I purchased this as I am not really a fan of the old bar (soap slab) cleansers. I have tried many sorts of the years including Dermalogica, clinique etc and I just don't like the bars.

However I used it last night and then again this morning and my skin feels amazing. This bar is unscented, moisturising, (they have a different one for those with oily skin), gentle and creamy and 100% free from synthetic chemicals. It only cost $9.95 for a very large slab. I cut mine in half to keep the other half fresh.

The thing that has most impressed me about this Beauty & the bees bar is that it is actuallr really creamy and my skin felt so incredibly clean and soft after I used it!

I also got the Rosewater Flowerpetal Toning Mist - It smells gorgeous! Very similar to the Jurlique Pure Rose Water freshener I think.

Miss PCC, is it my imagination or have you been extra zealous with your shopping lately??

The green eye cream. Garnier? I dunno, the same one as my facial moituriser. Feeling a tad 'eh!' right now, kinda ate too much. Teach me to make nachoes.

But you are the shop owner's dream! They will have their detectives and sniffer-dogs out there trying to track you down and lure you into their beautiful, tempting lairs!

Today at the supermarket I got:

J&J Clean & Clear Oxygenating Facial Scrub - a replacement for the one I killed off this morning
Redwin Sorbolene Gentle Facial Scrub - to try

A grand total of $16. I :hearts: my J&J, but my skin has been a bit dry this week, and the Redwin seems to have a creamier formulation.

The dryness is environmental, humidity is at 70%+ this week - before it rains, and my hair is all dry and snarly as well.

I forgot about this one - Rosie it is great. Granular which I don't normally like but they are so fine, and it is in a creamy, non-foaming base. I must buy it again.

Yeah, I just used it in the shower, and my skin is lovely and soft, no dryness at all. Might have to use this for a few months, and just have the J&J for summer/facial nights.

Today I caved in and bought the first ever skin care product froma pharmacy/supermarket since i was 17 :redcheeks::whistle::chuckle:

Biore self heating deep cleansing mask
Biore nose and chin pore strips

I must admit I love the mask. It smells devine and the heating effect is kinda funky, gorgeous smooth texture too. I dont know if i felt cleaner afterward but it was nice.

Pore strips just hurt. I got soo much stuf ffrom my nose. Even after all my Liquid gold and ESTS i still get gunk out. HOW DOES THAT WORK!! I dont get it!! Note to self: dont not use Liquid gold after a pore strips....its evil..the stings that is.:shakehead::whistle::chuckle:

Fusspot was the strip really dry? The strip need to set almost rock hard before you peel it off. I remember the box saying that you could moisten it to reduce the pain but this renders it totally ineffective and a complete waste of time!
