I thought this would be the most appropriate area for this topic?! :question:

Anyway, I have some girlfriends coming up from Melbourne for a girly weekend at Mooloolaba in about a month.

We're looking at hitting a day spa one of the days for some truly girly experiences. I've been looking at the 'menu' and I have always wanted to try a hot stone massage but have never heard what anyone else thinks of one.

Has anyone had one? Would you recommend it? What's it like?

Personally I have never tried the hot stone treatment. I am sure it has theraputic properties but has too much of a giggle factor for me. I'd be cracking up on the table!:chuckle:

Funny you should mention this - was talking to a work colleague a few nights ago and sh had one and said it was magnificent! She simply said "YOU HAVE TO TRY IT!!!" So I will, eventually!!!

I have a weekly massage and a couple of times I have had the hot stones. Great for a treat, but I personlly like the feeling of fingers and hands on your muscles to give them a really good workout. The hot stones are really relaxing if that's what you are seeking.

I had the hot stone thing at the day spa in our hotel when I stayed in Palm Cove last year. It was great! Very relaxing - although as Alison says, probably not as good as hands if you are needing to relieve sore muscles.

If you'll be on the Sunny Coast a good place to get a hot rock massage is the Ikatan Spa, I think that they have a website too. Lucky you, I love the coast, live it up!!

Awww i have wanted to have a hot stone massage for a while but havent been that lucky yet :( I have heard great things about them!

I absolutely adore the day spa I go to in Hobart. It is called the Savoy Baths & Day Spa! For those of you who want to have a look www.savoybaths.com.au be sure to click on the panoramic view to have a look all around the baths etc.

I make a point of going at least once a month to have a facial and massage. I usually take my Mum or a girlfriend along as before and after your treatment you can spend unlimited time in the huge Bath (salt water pool with water falls and little alcoves), hot tubs, steam room or sauna. I find it's more fun to have some company whilst doing this.

My Beauty therapist keeps telling my to have a manicure and pedicure but I hate people touching my feet and a hand massage is included in the facial! We spent an entire day there a week before my friend got married. It was bliss. It's just one of those places you don't want to leave.

While I was on Holidays last week, I got a hot stone massage. It was AMAZING. It included a full body exfoliation, a vichy shower and the massage itself. I have never been so relaxed in my life!!

I think I've pretty much decided on the hot stones - it comes with head, feet and hand massage too (or something like that) but am also thinking of getting a wrap thrown in as I had one of them once and felt sooooo silky soft and smooth afterwards!

It's in another few weekends so will report back on what I thought soon! :hearts:

It was soooo good... the sensation of the hot then cold stones was just amazing! The day spa I went to (The Waterfall Day Spat at Mooloolaba) was great.

Just wish I could go every weekend!

Mine had a foot scrub to start, then the normal massage with hands, then the stones and included feet, head and hands... but no shower! oh well it was still great!
