View Full Version : Nose red and raw!

Hi adorables,
I have been using tissues/ napkins/ toilet paper/ sleeves etc on my nose today and all last night so it's feeling very sore and looking very red.
What is the best thing to put on it to help? Right now I'm looking longingly at my Smith's Rosebud Salve.
I've heard Vaseline is good? It all seems a bit messy, though.
I have used my Blistix on my nose before, but the old fashioned Raleighs tin cream is good.

Lucas' Papaw Ointment. Dont use too much as you will have a shiny nose !

paw paw ointment? Keeping it moisturised would be the biggest thing. Try using those tisses with aloe vera or vitamin E in them when you need to - they are very soft and make a huge difference.

Ouch, you poor thing. When I have a cold I use a QV moisturiser, provides a good barrier but it's not at all shiny and very gentle on irritated skin. You can get some great stuff at your friendly neighbourhood chemist!

Smith's Rosebud is great for a sore nose. Badger balm is great too.

Aleo tissues and Smiths. Nuxe is the atomic bomb of lip balms for chapped lips but i dont know for a sore nose.

Vaseline is what i use, put it all over your nose when u go to bed, put heaps on because when you sleep in seeps in:) it feels funny but in the morning its much better, then u just have to try and keep putting little bits on during the day or it will dry out again

Yep. Papaw Ointment. Its made for things like cracked skin, chaffing and things like that. Its absolutley excellent for a sore, dry, red nose. It acts like a barrier and keeps the area moisturised.

Whenever someone says "I've got this on my face or i have this scratch blah blah " i'm like PAW PAW OINTMENT for everything. I think i should get a commission for all the times i've reccommended it.

I use plain old lanoline on my sore nose and dry lips. It is the only thing that works for me. I have used Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream before to and that was quite good.

I love 8-hour cream and Raleighs too - amazing stuff. But I think Raleigh's is more for a cold and I don't think that is what Toastie is suffering from...

I'll throw in my 5c worth now - definitely Paw Paw ointment or EA 8 hour cream. Good luck, should respond really quickly!

Nipple balm - Lanlisol.
I swear its exatly the same formula as Blistix.
Please don't use Vaseline, its a petrochemical.

Good advice Medusa. Lansinoh is pure lanolin and unless you have a sensitivity to it works well on raw skin. It comes in a fab 7g tube to pop in pocket or handbag.Marcalan is another brand, same ingredient, same size tube but more $.

Thanks for the spell check. Miss 14 has nicked mine & is walking around with a tube of breastfeeding balm in her handbag! Its the only thing that heals her cracked lips.
Tip: just get the small tube as you only need a teeny bit & it lasts forever. Also works a treat on burns.

Miss Fendi would this be good for my cracked sides of lips?

Hi Pcc, definitely worth trying for cracks at corner of the mouth. If this is not effective, your doctor will have a solution. The trick is to keep the area constantly moist to encourage healing. Bit of a tricky area as we are constantly opening and closing mouths - I know I am!

PCC, you must try the Nuxe lip balm - it is The Stuff Of Lip Healing. if this doesn't fix 'em, nothing will.
