View Full Version : Decleor- where to begin??

Hello again all,

A few years ago I spent some time in a very hot, dry climate in northern Australia. I got sunburned once on my face and despite aloe, cold cream etc the skin seemed to take longer to heal than usual- perhaps partially die to the climate and the fact that all buildings were air-conditioned 24/7, which I find can irritate my senstive skin.

Anyway, a friend suggested I have a facial to help it feel and look better. The facialist used Decleor and maybe some Ella Bache in a cleansing and de-stressing treatment. In short, my skin looked fabulously clear and calm for almost 2 weeks after- as though I had just stepped out of the salon!

Unfortunately I never thought to ask which wonder products were used, then I moved away. Now that Decleor is at Adore, I'm wondering if anyone might be able to hazard a guess regarding which products the facialist may have used to create such a delightful result on my skin? A little detective work may be required!

Similarly, does anyone have any Decleor products they love? Keep in mind that my skin is easily sensitised/reddened, but also very oily (but only occasional breakouts). Therefore nothing to harsh or too occlusive/rich.

Thank you in advance x

Hi Sapphire,
Whilst I don't know a lot about Decleor products I do have a few that I was lucky enough to win from a competition at my day spa. My day spa uses a lot of different product lines but my Beauty Therapist loves Decleor and prefers to use it during my facials so I always end up having Decleor facials when I go to her (ok so I go to someone else as well but thats because I love Dermalogica lol).

My facials always feel amazing. The smells that come from the Decleor products are heavenly and my skin feels great afterwards. Here is a list of the products I have by Decleor:

Foaming Cleanser with Essential Oils and Essential Waters - I usually don't like foaming cleansers but this is pretty good. It smells beautiful and leaves my skin feeling clean and not at all dehydrated and tight as some other foaming cleanser. It gets rid of makeup really well.

Decleor Cleansing Cream - I love this. It is so comforting to the skin and I feel that it actually hydrates my skin as well. It smells fabulous as all Decleor products do!

Decleor Fresh Hydrating Mist - The best smelling toner ever! My skin drinks this stuff up and it conforts and hydrates as well as tones.

Hydra Floral Hydrating Comfort Cream - I only use this on my cheeks as my slightly oily t-zone doesn't like it much. It is fantastic on my cheeks and is really hydrating. Of course it too smells divine.

Decleor Comforting Concentrate (aromessence Neroli) - again I only use this on my dry cheeks. After using this super smelly potion (it's like an oil) my cheeks certainly aren't dry anymore.

Decleor Aromessence Lip Balm - This is a fantastic lip balm. I love it. It is so soothing on chapped and dry lips. I keep it by my bed a slick it on before going off to sleep at night. I think it is expensive for a lipbalm but it works well.

Decleor Deeply Hydrating Eye Contour gel-cream - This is white in colour and I think it is more like a cream than a gel but it is brilliant. It hydrates like nothing else. It banishes dehydration lines and it is one of the few eye creams that doesn't irritate my eyes at all. My eyes feel so hydrated and plump after I use this. I will definitely be buying this again as it is one of my favourite eye creams.

Decleor Aromessence Essential Balm - This is very rich in consistency and has a texture similar to Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream. My skin can't cope with it as it is a little heavy for me. I might use it on my cheeks if they ever get flakey or super dry.

Decleor Harmony Soothing Mask - This mask calms the skin and leaves it feeling beautifully soft and well hydrated. It is very good for sensitive skin and helps treat redness etc.

Hope this helps in some way.

:redcheeks: Hi Sapphire,

the Decleor Aromessence Neroli is a good start. Although it is an oil, apparently oily products help balance oily skin as they provide it instead of the body needing to over-produce it...if you get my drift. So, when oily skinned people use harsh cleansers etc, they strip the oil so the body over produces it again, or something like that. Seemed to make sense when I first heard it.

Anyway, this is a good start, and you can use it morning and night, you only need tiny drops too. Be careful of the Hydra-Floral moisturiser as my sister seems to have similar skin to yours, only slightly oily, but very sensitive and he couldn't use this- she said it mae her skin sting and red patches. She was probably having a reaction to something that I don't since I really liked it (mainly for the divine smell than any effect though). I loved their foaming cleansing lotion, made my skin feel lovely and it smelt beautiful. Again, I am inspired to revisit an old favourite from times long ago!!! Just know that I have normal skin that is rarely sensitive to anything...so it's hard to know what might irritate you.

From memory decleor are very generous when it comes to samples - I used to get mine from my BT, but maybe try ebay for some samples first before ordering from adore.

HTH's!!!

Thank you Melissa and pinkcupcake,

I would like to try the Neroli oil but I do have to wait until I have finished my Clarins lotus oil. Alas!

Do either of you have any experience with decleor's masks or exfoliants? i don't like granulated exfoliants but perhaps a gentle peeling one?

There are heaps of Decleor reviews on Makeupalley:

Thanks, Kate.

Has anyone tried any of their masks?

How do you think they compare to Clarins- they seem quite similar in content and style.

Quite similar to Clarins I think. Both have that very refined elegant French formulation. Decleor is probably a bit more spa-oriented, and also more into the essential oils.

Yes, i love that French thing. A lot of people say that Clarins' forumlations are basic and a bit dated compared to all the high-tech sciency stuff out there now, but I have always found their products- the ones I have tried anyway- are very effective in doing what they claim. Their forumlations do seem refined- a real alchemy.

I do not know decleor so well, so I cannot comment on their formulations so much.
