A lot of forum members seem to like Benefit so I thought why not create a Benefit thread where we can all review what we have tried, liked and haven't liked etc.
I am a massive Benefit fan (and I mean massive). I have almost everything in the range and I think the products are really fun and also of really great quality. From a marketing perspective I think the products are really cleaver!
Share with us what you have tried and what you have thought of the products you have used.

Good one cutie. I love, love, love Benefit! It's always high on the rotation list for me. The packaging of course is lots of fun but the products themselves are equally fab. My favourites are:
Dandelion: it's sold as a brightening powder but my skin is so pale I used it as a blush. It's a beautiful ballerina pink with a great texture. I always have this in my makeup bag.
Dallas: bought this after much debating and seeing your review PCC. Pretty colour and a bit sparkly too. Can look a bit dark on me so I need to use a light touch.
High Beam: the best highlighter I've ever used. A lovely pearly shimmer for cheek- and brow-bones. Love how it comes in a nail-polish style bottle too.
Bad Gal mascara: top stuff. Not my HG but pretty darn good.
Others I've tried and liked, but not loved:
Benetint: gorgeous colour for an old-fashioned gal like me, but dries my lips out too much consarnit. The Pocket Pal version seems to go down better.
Bo-ing concealer: good texture and excellent for redness and any blemishes.
Bathina Body So Fine: oooohhhhh, love this. Beautiful body balm with a light shimmer and smells delish (with the signature Bathina scent). Comes with a very cute velvet puff and glamour packaging.
Oh Baby!: light and pretty fragrance. I liked it but not as much as some of my other white florals.
Phew, I know there are more but I'll stop now and let others have their turn! :redcheeks:

I won't list everything I have tried as I will be here for ages making one of my lists. Just thought I would list my favourites for now.
Hoola
Georgia
Dandelion All face & complexion powders
Dallas
Boing Concealer
Lemonaid Eyelid concealer/base
Stop Bluffing Foundation
Brow Zings - eyebrow wax and powder
Oooh la la - eye treatment for baggs and puffiness
Gilded Eye Pencil - Gold shimmer fat pencil for eyes and lips
Bad Gal Mascara - huge tube and super fat applicator
Bad Gal Eyeliner - big fat black liner
Mr Frosty - Fat White pencil
Eye Bright - Fat pencil to conceal shadows and darkness around the eye area
Sisters Ford De-puffing action eye gel - great for eliminating puffyness
Pineapple Facial Polish - A very gentle exfolient but smells amazing
Some Kind a Gorgeous - This is called a foundation faker. I would say it's more like a very light tinted moisturiser that adapts to the colour of your own skin.
Hollywood Glow - A finishing touch facial glow
Moon Beam - A golden highlighter
High Beam - A pinkish highlighter
Stop Bluffing - a yellow concealer that eliminates any redness
Glamazon - a brown stain/tint for lips and cheeks
Ok so I have started one of my lists after all! I will finish up there but if anyone wants to know anything about any Benefit products just ask because I have probably got them!

Benefits Touch Me Then Try To Leave body cream is to die for. I can honsetly say it is my all time favourite body cream and it absorbs so well leaving my skin lightly scented and super hydrated. Girls this is right up there with Kiehl's Creme De Corps.
Getting Steamy Bubble Bath and Shower Gel is gorgeous to. You can now buy it in smaller bottles for around $20.
I find the benetint too red for me. Red makes me look like a Geisha or alternatively like a street worker as I am so fair.

Benefit have released a few new delights into their collection. I am not sure if they are in store yet here but they are coming soon if not.
Firmology - A toning and smoothing serum for the face and neck.
Rush Hour - Lipstick style tubes with a variety of colours that can be used as eith lipstick or blush.
Sheer Cream Blushers - Little tubes of cream blush in a variety of colours.
Creaseless Shadow Liners - Dual purpose pots of colour that can be used as a shadow or a liner.
Hopelessly Devoted To Pink Palette - Contains 3 shiny lip creams and 3 eyeshadows all in shades of pink of course! Has a super cute heart shaped mirror in the lip of the compact.
Can't wait to get my hot little hands on these newies. Also don't forget the new Badgal big lash mascara in navy. I have this and it rocks!

Ta,
Nat:typing:
Hi Nattieb,
The Benefit Lip Plump is kind of like a foundation for your lips with a non tingling plumping agent. I think it is excellent for making your lippie or gloss stay on a lot longer but really didn't see any improvement in the volume of my lips.
Benefit do a few different eye creams etc so I am unsure which you are talking about.
The Ooh La Lift comes in a pale pink tube (like a mascara tube) with black writing on it. This product has a cult following in the US. What the product actually does is sooth, hydrate, calm and de-bag the delicate under eye skin. You can see the difference within seconds of applying it. It contains ingredients such as raspberry extract. I love it and use it almost daily.
Benefit also have another product called The Sisters Ford De-Puffing Action Eye Gel,this comes is a small tube and is a gel. It really works miracles on those puffy eyes and has a cooling effect.
They also do a product called Eye Con. It's a good basic eye cream that targets dehydration and dark circles.

Well I might give the Lip Plump a miss then - I want something short of a collagen injection!

Thought I'd report back on my new Benefit purchases.
"10" - this is a great product. One side is a light bronzer, the other a shimmery pink highlighter. You sweep the brush across both powders, then across your cheeks and gently up towards the temple. The result is sculpted cheekbones with a shimmer across the apple. Really does what it says. I needed to blend a tiny bit as I'm so pale but would definitely recommend...one of the only bronzer-type things that has ever really worked for me. And of course the packaging is divine.
Creaseless Eyeshadow - I have it in Get Figgy (plum colour). Great consistency, you use it to shade or line. No creasing! It's a good-sized pot too. Am very keen to try the others in the range.
In summary: :clapping:

Sure, im not very good but Ill give it a try!
I dont know if you have ever used Mac Strobe cream (im obsessed) but it is very similar, but its not a lotiony cream.
Its more of a velvety balm feel (?!) kind of like Bathina Body so fine, that creamy balmy texture (not doing so well here!!)
The best thing about it I found is that it makes my skin virtually poreless, even without foundation over the top. Im very pale skinned and have used it with and without fake tan and it works well with both
The other good thing I have noticed is that in photos, it makes you glow like a freakin goddess.I cant explain it, but when the light hits your face this stuff just makes it glow.
Hmm whay else... kind of smells strawberryish to me, which is always good
As always with Benefit the packaging is gorgeous, and ive used the whole lot up in about 6 weeks (I was away for 3 of those backpacking, so there were 3 of us using it at the same time!!
Hope that was ok!

I wanted to a quick review on my latest Benefit purchase...
I bought the D'finer D'liner and I have to say that it is BRILLIANT!! I was having a few issues with lip gloss bleeding (it was stressful!) so I thought I'd give it a try. I swear to god there is not one tiny bit of bleeding any more, even with my darker glosses. Definately worth the $35!!

Had a play at the Benefit counter today.
That Gal - looks good. I tested it on my hand & it feels silky (silicone base?) it also has that blurring effect. I could see it straight away. Really want this but find the tiny size for the price a bit much.
It Stick - has anyone got this? Looks like a concealer pencil but the SA said it could be used to "fill in" lines. I wonder?
10 highlighter & bronzer in one. Also looks good, going on the never ending list.

Today I purchased my first Benefit products and I'm just a tad excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! :penguin::penguin::penguin:
I got the "Hoola" Bronzer, it's nice and matte but a nice amount of shimshim, and no orange.
I also decided on the "That Gal!" primer- - I will report back once I've used it, it smells divine, not overly sweet but definitely can smell the raspberry extract. The chick put some on my hand and as I was dirivng home I could see a big difference staring at them whilst I was at the traffic lights ( I even got beeped I was so consumed but them hehe)
I got the "Get Bent" mascara as a frebie (full size!!!) but have given that to my mum, along with the small remants of my MAC Bronzer (she uses it as a mineral makeup as mum is really dark and olive)
The SA also gave me the EyeCon in a sample (pretty generous size too) which is described as a brightening eye cream - I'm pretty excited to use it - I love eye creams and want to make sure I stay youthful as long as possible!!!
And I have the adorable Benefit catalogue to pour over on the plane tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a sample of this on Friday and have noticed a difference already! I know there is no mircale cream that will get rid of them, and there are other factors that cause it, but this EyeCon is amazing!!
It's the only eye cream I've used to see such a difference at all, let alone after a few days. My dark circles are definitely better, they're not as puffy as well, and it feels hydrating.
I highly recommend trying this, and want to know has anyone else tried this and waht results they got.
The sample size is pretty generous so try that and it should last at least a week, using it morning and night.

Trash - I purchased my first Benefit last week and I love it - I got the "that Gal" primer and "hoola" bronzer and they're awesome.
And the EyeCon they gave me really ahs faded my dark circles!!
As for Creme Blush - I adore Becca Cheek and Lip Cream in Rosebud - it's a natural pink that goes on really natural and lasts, and their other cream blushes are beautiful too, I have used them before as well, and no other one has compared. You can check them out on Adore as well.

Blush is the perfect addition to the no makeup look. I think it really lifts things!
Are you fair-skinned? I often use Benefit Dandelion for a light wash of colour - it's a pale ballerina pink, would suit most skin tones. Comes in a pretty compact with brush.
In summer I use Benefit Hoola for a touch of bronze on cheeks, nose etc (anywhere the sun would naturally hit). Alternatively you could try '10', which is a bronzer and highlighter in one - one strip of bronze, one of highlighting powder, so you just swipe and go. Very pretty.
Lemon aid is also good for a nude eyelid and concealer.

I posted this in the make-up section too:
"Thanks for the recs girls. I'm thinking maybe even Benefit's "That gal" primer or Elizabeth Arden "8 Hour Cream" just on my cheeks and eyelids. I just want a natural but dewy look if that makes sense. I'm afraid that blush would still add color and be noticeable. Maybe just a primer on certain places would make me glow more? I've never used any primer or those products I mentioned so again I'm stuck!
So yeah, what would you girls recommend? Something like that or a blush?
Thanks so much girls!:waving: "

I have ordered Benefit products a couple of times directly from their website. I think the products are funky and the packaging is really cute!
Last year, I ordered the BadGal Lash mascara and Realness of Concealness kit. The mascara is great for thickening - I tend to use a mascara with a thinner brush first to lengthen, and then apply BadGal to thicken.
The Concealness kit is real cute - I have used all the products, but mainly use the Lemon Aid and Boi-ing concealer. I also got a gift with purchase - the Dandelion palette. It has 2 eyeshadows, Flirt lipstick and Dandelion powder. I wasn't too impressed with the eyeshadows, as they aren't very pigmented and don't last very long. The lipstick is a nice colour though, and so is the Dandelion powder if you want a sheer baby pink blush.
This year I ordered the California Kissin Lipgloss, which is blue in colour and meant to make your teeth look whiter. I understand the theory behind it, but it didn't really work for me. On me, it applies as a very sheer blue lipgloss with blue glittery bits in it. It also has a sweet minty flavour.
I also got the Wonder mitt and the Zap Wrap headband. And as a free gift, I received the Glamorous Gabbi makeup bag, which is great because it fits a lot of stuff and has a section to put your brushes.

Thanks RBB.
I have more confusion now though!!
Hi Trash,
Although the EA 8 hour cream has cult status and is a popular multi-purpose product, I think it is way too heavy and pasty and a bit on the greasy side so not one I would recommend as providing just a dewy look!

I have the Eyecon eye cream. It is a good one for dark circles. I also highly rate The Sisters Ford De-Puffing Action Eye Gel by Benefit to eliminate puffy eyes!
PCC knows how much I like the Sisters Ford De puffing eye gel (she put me on to it!) and has sent me a sample of her Eyecon eye cream to try! Thanks PCC, will let you know how I go! Loolabelle and PCC, do you just put it underneath your eyes?

Have any of you ever ordered off the benefit website? If so, was it good or bad service, price, etc?

27-09-2007, 08:18 PM
I have ordered a couple of times from the website. Last year when I ordered, I got free shipping and a free gift, and I received my order in a week and a half. I also got a catalogue & 2 samples.
This year when I ordered, I got a free gift again because I spent a certain amount, but they've increased the amount you need to spend to get free shipping (it's $100 now, compared with about $60 last year). Again, i got the current catalogue & 2 free samples. But this one took slightly longer to get here (about 2 and a half weeks), because I think they've changed their shipping method.
But no complaints here - I was willing to pay the shipping, but I ended up getting a gift which pretty much cancelled the cost of the shipping. Would probably order from them again.

You have to spend $100 to get free shipping?! That's heaps!
bluemelon
30-09-2007, 11:09 PM
I agree - $100 (US dollars that is) is a lot to spend. I don't know why they increased it so much - first it was 60, then 80, and now 100.
For me, buying Benefit online is way more convenient that going into Myer in the city. And I like the fact that I get samples and a catalogue. But I doubt I'll spend $100 in one hit, so I try to order small so I don't have to pay too much shipping. But if the limit to receive a free gift isn't too steep - then I try to reach it, as long as the shipping cost is reasonable!

Bluemelon, I have Some kind of Gorgeous. It is a fairly lightweight foundation with great packaging and a hidden sponge compartment. They only produce it in the one shade but it is fairly universal.
Because of the form it takes (solid) it will rely on oils to make it so, so might not be good for breakout-prone skin. Perhaps get them to pop some on you when you are near a counter?

I have this and I love it!! It's very one-shade-fits most (I have olive skin, and it works for me as well as my pink undertoned bestie). As LB says, it may not be the best for oily skins. And a little goes a long way!

And just in time for a pre-Christmas treat to self, a load of Benefit booty also hits Myer stores today. There's the Her Glossiness Gift Set ($49) of six ultra shiny lip glosses, the divine Powder Pop Palette (59) containing Dandelion for brightening plus Dallas and Hoola for a beachy bronze, and the 10 palette ($45) of highlighters and illuminisers for your eyes, cheeks and lips. Hi LB.. the 10 palette is decrribed as -- "This powder duo bronzes & highlights in one sexy sweep to give you sleek, sculpted cheekbones. We've chosen two seductive shades for lips & complimentary shades for your eyes. We like to call it "sexy to the max." Limited edition."
It looks like a little sample of the 10 powder (the one that's half bronzer and half highlighter" , a pink and a brown eyeshadow and a pinkink lip colour.

Benefit have had the Powder Pop palette available on their site now for about a week. And now, they're offering free shipping if you buy it. But unfortunately not for international people (of course because you have to spend $100!!). I tried entering the promo code anyway (just in case!!), but no luck. But you do get a mini Benetint for free if you spend $50 - today is the last day of that promotion.
So are Benefit counters stocking the Powder Pop at all? Or is it still just Sephora & the Benefit site? And anyone got their orders yet??

Hellooo!
I'm just wanting to share in the Benefit love. I'm so addicted.
In the past couple of months I've collected the basic Benefit staples and am ready to conquer the colours.
So far I have:
Girl's Good Name makeup bag
Benetint (favourite) + pocket pal
Bake Cake (other favourite) + Get Bent brush
Bad Gal Lash
Dandelion
Eye Con
F.Y Eye!
Honey Snap Out Of It
Need more!
I'm just looking for a little advice though. My Get Bent brush is all out of shape (ironically), what do you suggest for getting the bristles back into their original shape? I thought boiling water to reset them, or would that maybe ruin the brush?
And Do It Daily, is it worth buying just to use in the morning under make up?

I thought I would do a quick review on the "realness concealness kit" I purchased a bit ago.
It is a great little kit to have and to try products, and also to throw into a bag to take out with you.
Boing Concealer - this is nice and creamy and surprisingly I found 02 not too dark - it is a lot darker in the pan than what it is when it goes on. I did find it's lasting power a bit on the weak side for me, and in comparison to the Becca one it doesn't quite stand up, so wouldn't purchase this on it's own.
Lemon Aid - this is a really nice base and would buy this again! Would like to try the MAC one as well, but really liked this - neutralises the lid well.
High Beam - I have used this alone and in conjenction with my Becca Shimmering skin perfector as the effect was very luminous and natural looking - a healthy glow, would buy this again!
Ooh la lift - this is for under the eye area and it describes itself as a 'depuffer' and instant eye lift - I tried this one day on one eye and the other without and couldn't see any difference, or feel any difference, so wouldn't bother with this one.
Lip Plump - a skin colour lip base - I found this dried out my lips and only used it a handful of times.
Whilst there are only 2 products I'd buy from this, it's a fabulous kit for a good price, and even though I will be using other things, I will be throwing this into my bag to carry around with me for touch ups and it's so compact and conveinient!

Thanks for the review l-belle. It's such a cute kit. Yeah, the lip plumper has a weird texture!
High Beam is one of my all-time Benefit faves. Always have it in my makeup bag. A gorgeous illuminator. I keep trying others, but always go back to this. Moon Beam (the champagne/gold version) is nice too.

It's a great kit to take about, especially on a night out in a small clutch, and I need all the room i can get (Celeste was slightly horrified when I pulled out my eyelash curler at the bar hehe)
THe high beam is lovely, I will definitely be buying this - even though I used this with the Becca one, that one is a beigey bronze colour, and the pink High Beam dotted on top and blended is a lovely natural glow effect.

A friend recommended I try so I went and tried some Benefit products the other day at City Myer (Sydney) and immediately got Benetint as it looks great on my lips.
I am loving with the following after trying- they're now on my wish list ...
Miss Popularity- gorgeous highlighter for eyes and face gave a nice shimmer
10 - glow bronzer for nice colour or the "10" palette looks good too - with a few other products in that I like
Depuffing eye gel- eyes felt soo much better after applying this
eyecon - under eye moisturiser- loved the soft feel this gave!!
Ohhh- the choices........
Well got time to think as 'm booked in for a makeup lesson and will get some when I go back later in Jan08.

Great stuff kk! The makeup lesson will be so much fun, make sure you report back.
10 is one of my favourites, so easy to use. If you're into a bit of shimmer I also recommend either High Beam (very pale pink shimmer) or Moon Beam (very pale champagne shimmer) to highlight cheeks, browbone and a little dot along the nose and above the lip. I'm never without my High Beam! Erm, yeah. You know what I mean.

Not at all, it's very light. In fact, it's oil-free! I love it but haven't been able to use as they only had the regular version (much too dark for palefaces). Can't wait to get my hands on the lighter one. Def. worth giving it a try. Can you get to a store to check it out kk?

OK well first off I'm seriously thinking of becoming a hooker so I can buy all the Benefit I want. My plan is to hook right outside Myer and that way, you know, two birds with one stone and what have you.
Well I'm currently wanting to make an order on the website, but my Mum is hovering around me and wants to buy some stuff for me for my birthday which is in two weeks - no complaints here!!
Here's what I want, tell me what you think:
Dallas bronzer (definitely getting this)
Dandelion (is this very pink? and would it be visible on tanned skin?)
OR should I get the Powder Pop pallette (mini sizes of Dallas, Dandelion and Hoola (which I already have))?
Georgia (again, would it be visible on a tan?)
Moonbeam or Highbeam - which one to go best with a tan?? And would they be as good as BECCA shimmering skin perfector, which I use as a cheekbone highlighter?
Realness of Concealness
That Gal - looks quite pink, would it be ok on tanned skin?
It is a lot, but I want the free shipping!!! Please give me any advice because I obviously can't see these products in person and I need guidance, o wise ones!

i have the realness of concealness & it's not bad but i really only use the lemon aid & high beam [ i think this is more pink than the moonbeam ] sorry i haven't used the MAC
RBB would be a good one to ask about these 3 things
i love the powder pop as i like to mix the bronzers [i would buy the big size in the lighter colour though for me ]
not sure how the dandelion would go on tanned skin , i suspect good but it would be a totally different look
an olive skinned chicky babe at benefit had dandelion on & she looked healthy flushed
i'm not sure on me i like something with more oomph

OK baby doll, get ready...
Dallas bronzer - GET IT. Perfect for you, it is the most gorgeous rosy-bronze hue with a hint of shimmer. Fab on tanned skin, but use a light hand during winter.
Dandelion - suspect this would be too light for you. It's a lovely ballerina pink, very sweet, but even I have to use a reasonable amount and I'm a serious paleface. It's one of my fave products though, have re-purchased a few times.
Georgia - this is a pretty apricot, would look great on you. It's light but has more colour pay-off than Dandelion. Would need to be layered to really pop on tanned skin (ie. with an apricot cream blush underneath).
Highlighter - Moonbeam is definitely better with a tan, it's a gorgeous shimmering champagne. Great with most looks. Highbeam has a definite opal-pink tone, which is also lovely but again, better on paler skin. This is also one of my faves. Both highlighters have a lovely texture and I think a better result than BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector (which I actually find slightly greasy, though the colours are divine).
Realness of Concealness - this is a fun way to try the 'fix it' products. Most of the products in this are great, but toss the Lip Plumper. Weird, matte texture and I don't think it plumps a gosh-darned thing.
That Gal - lovely loola sent me a sample of this. Nice but not as good as BECCA primers.
Happy to answer any further questions!

Yep, I agree with RB - Dandelion is tad light & probably wouldn't show up on tanned skin. And also Highbeam might also be a bit pale.
Realness of Concealness is quite cute - and a good way to try a few of the different products. And you'll also get a small Highbeam to try anyway, so don't worry about buying the full sized one. I also found the lip plumper useless - just makes your lips look pale as & dries them out. But the concealer is great & so is the Lemon Aid.
I still haven't got around to getting the Powder Pop - but I'm just a bit worried about getting that teeny brush into those teeny squares of powder! Might just end up getting Dallas, because that's the one I'm really after!

I agree with trying these first, as they sound great but may not be so when tried on the individual skin - for example, I wanted to get Dr Feelgood mattifying balm and when they tried it on my skin (oily T zone area) to hopefully soak up some of my oily areas on a hoy humid day it sure mattified it and totally dried out my skin and in fact my skin began peeling pretty badly right then and there at the Benefit counter so I now know I won't be getting that, would rather be a little on the oily side than be flaky and peeling!!
I will be getting the Bad Gal black mascara, 10 bronzer/illuminiser and Eyecon, I have tried it several times and feels fantastic and I didnt react like you did Celeste (that is bad, you poor thing!) and also want to get their cooling eye gel as it feels great and helps my eyes.
Miss Popularity and Dallas bronzer are also on my Benefit wish list.. plus I just saw fy...eye! this is an eyeshadow primer & sounds great for USD22.

I read about this offer in my Myer One magazine that I got yesterday. I don't think you get a choice in shade of the rush hour, everyone gets the same when you spend $100 or more on Benefit.
Did everyone else get their Myer One catalogue? It has lots of beauty stuff in it. You also get a coupon for every hundred dollars you spend you will get $10 off.

Hey Sydney girls, did you know Benefit is opening a stand-alone store in Paddington???? I walked past it yesterday and almost hyperventilated. No idea about date, but woo hoo! :penguin::glee:

Well. After some emailing, it appears my Benefit stuff has been lost in transit. :( They are getting back to me about possible replacements.
I seem to have the worst postal luck.

What The? is going on with the post! It is getting sooo bad that it would be better to take your chances with a carrier Pigeon than with any postal service! Grrrr

I know, I am so disappointed. First Loola's birthday present and now this. Plus, Australia Post said they'd send me a repalcement satchel (it was the best they could do for losing L-Belle's birthday present :shakehead:) and that hasn't arrived yet. Bastards.
My Benefit BETTER get here. I have a feeling that some c*** at Australia Post is really enjoying my stuff.

No babe. When did you send them? I think I need to get on the phone (or go DOWN TO THE POST OFFICE) and kick some Australia Post ass tomorrow. I'm sick of this sh it. I'm sure they're not getting stolen from my house too because they put them inside my gate and it's pretty safe, and also there are people at home all the time.

Babe I'm going to go down to the Post Office tomorrow and have a chat to someone there. This is f*cking ridiculous. It still makes me want to cry that Loola's birthday present got lost and now my Benefit is possibly lost.
I really do not understand why a real competitor has not popped up. Think how great it would be if FedEx operated on a large scale here!

I'm so cranky and disappointed. Although I must say Benefit have been good so far, they asked me whether I would like a refund or a replacement, so that's good.
