Anyone using any Micr-Dermabrading type scrubs? I know there are a lot out there at the moment (not that they could be compared to actual Micro-Dermabrasion) and was wondering if anyone knows of any good ones to try.

So far I have only tried two, including Estee Lauders Idealist Micro-D and one by Philosophy (think it's called either the greatest Mystery or Love).

The Estee Lauder one heats up on application and is supposed to be followed (according to Estee Lauder) by The Idealist Skin Refinisher (I think this is clever way of getting you to buy two products. I purchased both at a cost of around $270). The scrub is a little harsh for my skin and I am a little bit sensitive to it.

The Philosophy Scrub is very coarse and starts out with quite big scrub particles. As it is massaged in it disolves into a smooth consistency. It is called a 1 minute micro-dermabrading scrub. After use my skin feels heavenly.

I would be interested in buying some more so any recommendations would be appreciated.

So many cheaper (think Loreal) and pricier (Chanel) have now incorporated some type of home dermabrasion kits into their ranges. As suggested these dont even come close to the type of peel you could get done professionally but are becoming a popular home scrub treatment and at least there is no down time with potential redness.

Most are made up of aluminium crystals which "buff" the skin free of dead skin cells. Some, like the Dermanew, also rely on foam pads stuck to a battery powered device (ok, minds out of the gutter!) that "pushes" these crystals into the skin.

Not much harm can be done but do check how often you can use them and for how long at a time.

I noticed Shiseido has a product for more sensitive skins. It is called Bio-Performance Super Exfoliating Discs. They are textured pads infused with brewer's yeast to dissolve dead skin cells and rice bran to refine and smooth.
