I have had great success with my problem skin when i have used dermalogica products.
I have used:

Anti Bac Face Wash - probably my fave of their face washes. I find it to be very refreshing and cleansing. i have also use the ultracalming cleanser (i think...its the one that says 'for face and eyes). i do not find this cleanser is as thorough at cleansing my skin as the anti bac skin wash. i use it as more of a pre-cleanse/makeup remover type product, or maybe just in morning when my face is more clean.

Oil control lotion - something which i believe helped greatly in clearing my skin.

Active moist - my fave moisturiser. it is devine

skin prep scrub - my all time fave face scrub. it is not too harsh, but it will remove all of your dead skin (i tend to get a lot of flakes as i suffer allergies and when i am always blowing my nose, it tends to go flakey :ashamed: )

microfoliant daily scrub - very gentle, and makes skin sooooo smooth!

dermal clay mask - this has lovely feel to it, although i dont think it is meant for my skin type. my brother uses it and it is his favourite.

treatment foundation - i have only tried a sample of this, and did not find it to offer me the coverage i am after.

thats about all i can think of for now...please give your dermalogica product reviews!

I've only used sample of the Anti Bac face wash but it gives a wonderful clean feeling with just the right amount of lather. It was a little drying on my skin because i only get acne on my chin and the rest of my face is dry but i felt clean and clear afterwards.

I really liked the anti-bac cleanser when I first started using it, but then found it to be too drying on my skin, I was using it in conjunction with the oil free moisturiser, which probably didn't help either.

I really love the gentle exfoliant, hydrating mask, and multi active toner. These products make my skin glow! I often use the hydrating mask before I go out, because it is non-greasy and it makes my skin look so soft, healthy and, well, hydrated! :D

I only have three Dermalogica products. Have tried a few samples (and am awaiting more from the website) but I am not entirely rapt in this range for my skin. It's a good basic range but I tend to need (and like) more actives in my products.

That said, I have the Intensive Moisture Mask (feels too much like a clay mask), the Multi Vitamin Power Recovery Mask, interesting orangy anti-oxident mask, but what is it going to do in 15 mins on my skin (except make it a little itchy!) and Total Care for eyes that I had to stop using because it irritated my eyes so much.

I DO want to try the Solar Defense drops which you ad to your moisturiser and wonder if anyone has tried this?

(sorry if I sound like I am bagging them as they have a huge following on this forum, but they are just not right for my skin or needs)

Last night I went along to a Dermalogica evening. As I had only used a few of their products I was keen to learn more. It was held at some very snazzy offices in St Kilda road in Melbourne. This is home to their Dermal Institute where they train beauty therapists who work with Dermalogica.

It was a very informative session even with a background in the industry. It didnt go for too long and just focuses on one or two concerns. Last night we learnt about the sun and their sun products. I liked the fact that they didnt focus too heavily on their products or give us a hard sell (infact you couldnt purchase any of the products after the talk). Got a lot of information about the run, types of UV rays, melanoma etc. It was very informative.

I found out about it by doing the face mapping on the website. They obviously put you on a mailing list. Mine went in my junkbox so very glad I retrieved it. They are holding frequent updates on a range of subjects.

Best of all it was free and we got to take home a trial pack of the Muli-Vitamin capsules. the Multi Vitamin eye and lip cream and the mask, all very generous sizes. Of the skin care products I aim to try the Ultra Sensitive sun block with tint (this felt amazing) and their after sun moisturiser. Worth going!

PS Always thought the solar defense drops were indeed drops but has the consistency of heavy sunscreen that you mix half a teaspoon in with your facial moisturiser!

I absolutely love love love Dermalogica. I have been using it for years and really couldn't say a bad word about their products. My skin just seems to love it. Here's a list of what I have from Dermalogica:

Ultracalming Cleanser - My favourite cleanser ever!
Special Cleansing Gel - Slightly foams and is great for people with combination skin.
Dermalogica The Bar - Facial Cleansing Bar

Multi-Active Toner -
Soothing Protection Spray- Helps protect against pollution etc however doesn't contain sunscreen.

Gentle Cream Exfolient - Apply this like a mask, leave for 10mins and wash off. It does all the exfoliation for you.
Skin Prep Scrub - A great scrub (colour and texture a lot like Dr H cleansing cream.
Daily Microfolient - This is the powder one that you mix with water to create a paste.

Skin Smoothing Cream - I use this on my cheeks as they tend to be a bit dry.
Active Moist - Oil free and I use it on my t-zone.
Barrier Repair- A waterless silicon based moisturiser to sooth and help repair damage from environmental aggressions.

Skin Hydrating Masque - A clear gel hydrating mask. I prefer the Intensive Moisture Mask but this one still provides good hydration.
Skin Refining Masque- I use this on my t-zone. It is great for drawing out impurities and refining pores.
Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque - This is orange in colour. It feeds your skin with vitamins. Not my favourite mask but I guess it must do some good for the skin.
Anti-bac Cooling Masque - This is quite strong. I only bought it for times when I have a breakout so I don't use it that often. It does sting a little bit but it certainly speeds up the healing process.
Plankton Masque - Love this Mask. I think it is a salon exclusive but my Beauty Therapist ordered it for me in the salon size. I love it. My skin feels amazing after I use this.
Intensive Moisture Masque - I use this on my dry cheeks. Love it, it is quite thick but it hydrates superbly.

Multi-Vitamin Power Firm - Eye and Lip Care - This suppodedle firms things up and slows down the aging process. Smells great and has a smmoth velvety texture. I love it.
Total Eye Care - This contains sunscreen and light reflecting pigments. I like it although it does make my sensitive eyes run.

Medicated Clearing Gel - For breakouts I wouldn't use anything else.
Multi-vitamin Power Concentrate Capsules - I love these. I think you get 48 to a tin. My skin just adores the stuff and seems to glow after I use these. Have used about 10 tins of these and continue to repurchase
Skin Renewal Booster - From memory this one caontains AHA's and exfoliates to help encourage skin renewal.
Gentle Soothing Booster - I use this when my skin gets a bit temperamental. It calm down any irritation and contains raspberry extract.
Skin Hydrating Booster - Hydrates beautifully, great for when your skin is really dry and provides instant hydration.

Shine Therapy Shampoo
Silk Finish Conditioner
Multi-vitamin Hand and Nail Treatment

Ultra Senstive Face Block
Solar Defense Booster
Waterproof Solar Spray

Let me know if anyone wants more info on any of these products.

I've used the essential cleanser, a milky gentle and effective but basic cleanser. Was better in the morning and not as great at night. Could take off your eye make-up though, and was sooo gentle.

I purchase the Smoothing Cream also a while ago, and ended up using as hand cream. I hated the scent and felt it did absolutely nothing to my skin.

Having said that the Daily Microfoliant has an absolute cult follwing on some other forums and is credited as transforming many a skin. I tried it and really liked it, but just didn't get the same effect as others had. Wish I did though as it has become a staple in many other people's routines.

Attention Adore Team,
Whilst on the topic of my beloved Dermalogica I was wondering if you are going to be getting the skin prep scrub? I didn't see it in the product listings so was wondering if it's been accidently missed or if you are not going to stock it. I love this and really hope you are going to have it.

Ok so got my Dermalogica Order from Adore yesterday. I got the Ultracalming Cleanser for face and eyes (love it and recommend everyone to buy it), Skin Prep Scrub and Special Cleansing Gel (love this too).

I noticed my Ultracalming cleanser box had Dermalogica's new hologram on it (so the people who make fakes can't get away with it anymore) and was pleasently surprised when I opened the box to find it had samples included of the precleanse oil! Yay!

I am going to order the precleanse in the next few days along with a few other of my beloved Dermalogica essentials. Words can not describe how thrilled I am to have Dermalogica on Adore.

There's no more going into pretencious salons with sales people trying to sell you everything except what you want. And no more buying from dodgy internet companies (who shall remain nameless :explode: ) who sell fakes!

Anyone else going to order from Dermalogica? I actually considered calling myself Dermalogica Devotee when I joined the forum but thought better of it when Adore didn't sell it. I think I kinda like Pinkcupcake now considering my real name is Bertha Guertrude (lol:chuckle: Just kidding)!

Hi Melissa,
It's difficult to say what it smells like. It has a variety of essential oils in it so it's a sort of unique smell. However I can say for sure that it smells gorgeous.

It is actually a pre-cleanse so not actually a cleanser. It can be used to take off makeup and get rid of sunscreen etc before actually cleansing. I know it's another step but honestly I don't think I can live without it now. The difference I felt in my skin after using it was amazing. After I used my cleanser my skin felt cleaner than it ever has before and it was somehow softer too. I highly recommend this beautiful product and it is suitable for all skin types.

Does anyone use/has anyone tried the Dermal Clay Cleanser? I recall someone said they used it as a mask, but what about for everyday?

I'm using the Special Cleansing Gel at the moment, and while I really like it, I'm not sure it's active enough for my combo/oily t-zone...but I think the Anti-Bac Wash would be too drying.

DCC anyone?

I have a sample that I've used twice - it's sort of a cross between a mask and a thin cleanser - if that makes sense - it's not what you think of when you think clay mask. I have only used it once week - not every day. If you want everyday deep cleansing/exfoliating product, the dermalogica micofoliant is well loved by many and you can use it in the shower. Am thinking of buying this - had a sample once that was ok, but hard to tell from a small samples whether it makes a difference or not - but the raves I've read make it worth it, I think!!

Forgot to mention the anti-bac wash - used a sample of this too, and was quite good, but I like the scented expereince of a cleanser myself, and prefer creams. Have used the dermologica essential cleanser full size years ago and have been thinking about repurchasing ever since - again, its the treatment factor that keep me interested, and this has no discernable scent (but good for sensitive skins, and very effective too)..

From a sample I recall the DCC has a nice, refreshing menthol smell (good for a morning wake-up) and I like the herbal scent of the multi-active toner...but definitely not the luxe smell of other lines.

Hmmmm....must do some more investigation....

 You could be right about the DCC, when I toddled off tolook at my sample, I found it was the Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant...
Sorry about that....but I used it again and quite liked the reduction in blackheads it's achieved!!! So am recommending it!

Have to say that my skin is the best is been in a long time - no breakouts (touch wood), little few blackheads, and no dryness. I've changed alot of things though, so not sure what it is exactly and if it will last (sometimes get a tolerance to products???). ill tell you all a secret....since I've run out of cleanser, have been cleaning my face with.....avocado oil (cold pressed of course):shockedhair: :shockedhair: , and am really liking it!! (got the idea from the reviews on olive oil as a cleanser on makeup alley...why wouldnt avocado oil work just as well if not better).

Now wouldn't that be good for the budget????(still going to order a rose cleanser so I can throw away my horrible shiseido foaming cleanser).

HI RBB!

Try to avoid anything with a mentholly smell - not my cup of tea. One Dermalogica product that has the most devine smell is the Ultra Sensitive Sunscreen. My pick after my night at their Dermal Institute.

Does anyone use/has anyone tried the Dermal Clay Cleanser?
My boy bought the Dermal Clay Cleanser & we both found it quite harsh. It is for oily/acne skin. I just had to have a go at it because I simply can't help myself but as soon as I put it on I had to rinse it off. It was stinging my skin. I have sensitive dehydrated skin. The Boy has oilier skin but no acne anymore & he felt he could only use the cleanser once a week or else his skin felt too dry.
It does have a menthol smell & is a bit like applying a running mud mask in consistancy.

Ok thanks Medusa, really appreciate the review. Interesting. Mine's more on the combo than oily side so DCC might be too much. Sorry to keep raving on girls but you really must all try the Dermalogica Precleanse. I think it is the best invention since sliced toast.

My skin has never felt better since I started using this stuff. My skin feels so soft and deeply cleansed after I use it and it is brilliant for removing make-up. I must admit I am using it every night whether I have make-up on or not. It prepares skin for cleansing and allows my cleanser to do it's job properly. Funny thing is it has really helped me bring a few little stubborn blackheads that were hiding to the surface.

It has the most sublime smell and really effectively (and gently) removes make up and doesnt strip my skin. Jaime, I understand your reluctance to shell out your hard earned cash on products that might not work. You should ask Kate or Allison for some advice. Dermalogica do have more active skincare and not just the gentle stuff. I have heard the anit bac range is brilliant. There are quite a few products to help with breakouts and scne within the Dermalogica range. Things to have a look at include:

Medicated Clearing Gel - I use this on my spots and I find it is highly effective at clearing the area up and drying up the spot. I have tried a lot of topical pimple creams and this is by far my favourite.

Dermal Clay Cleanser

Antibac cooling masque and cleanser - I have the anitbac cooling masque, I only use it on the rare occasions that I have a breakout but it is very good at helping the skin heal and clear. It is a gel type formula and is very very cold on application.

Well, I've been using Dermalogica for about three weeks now, and overall....I'm not sure. These are a few of my thoughts:

Special Cleansing Gel - nice smell and texture, foams nicely, my skin feels good after using it - not too tight. I do however feel the need to do a double-cleanse, even if I'm not doing makeup, because the cotton pad still shows up dirt when I tone. It also doesn't remove any eye-makeup left over from removal, which is disappointing.

Multi-Active Toner - gorgeous smell, and I have started applying it by putting a few spritzes onto a cotton pad and wiping it over my face (thanks Luisa!). Not sure it's doing anything though, especially around my oily t-zone.

Active Moist - nice nighttime moisturiser. No complaints - would probably re-purchase.

Soothing Eye Makeup Remover - Not the most effective eye makeup remover I've used, not by a long shot.

Skin Refining Masque - Nice texture, good ingredients, but very comparable to other masks I've used.

Daily Resurfacer (samples) - Good product & novel application...but wouldn't purchase for the price.

I got samples of the Intensive Eye Repair and the Total Eye Care, and my eyes have been itchy and sore ever since I started using them.

So overall, my experience with Dermalogica has been okay but I haven't used anything except the Active Moist that I'd repurchase. It's not that any of the products have been bad for my skin, but I do think it's overpriced and I have used other ranges that have suited my skin better.

Great detailed reviews ozkat, thanks for this. You know, it's funny, I've had a similar experience with Dermalogica products. I tried them years ago after a 'face mapping' exercise and facial, where I ended up buying the combo/oily kit (special cleansing gel, multi-active toner and active moist). After using it for a month I liked it and the textures and smells were gorgeous, but I could never be sure it was really making a difference to my skin. I re-bought all three a few months ago and the exact same thing happened. I think I've been spoilt by new discoveries and am so enjoying having a more active skincare range that not much else is rocking my boat. Or perhaps I'm just not giving them long enough...?

That being said Dermalogica is loved by many and, more importantly, works for many. I feel almost bad not being the devotee I hoped I would be, does that sound silly? I have had great success with some of their other products, including the Pre-cleanse (PCC and LB you were so right, this stuff is fab); the multi-active is great in hot weather; and their exfoliants are pretty darn good too.

So while I may not re-purchase a few things (for now anyway! we floozies like to have choice down the track!) there are a number of others that are like, totally awesome n' that. So definitely still like Derm, just the RBB 'limited edition' bathroom cabinet range!

Great comments ozkat and RBB. I too am in mixed minds about some products. LIke you ozkat cannot use the total eye care. I absolutely love (as you all know!) the PreCleanse. Also the sensitive skin sunscreen, Multi Vitamin power mask and eye cream, the gentle cream exfoliant and the intense hydrating mask. Have the tinted moist in Medium and although an ok colour, tends to sit in the drawer in favour of my Clarins tinted. Would be good for an oilier complexion and I do like the fact that it has 15SPF.

I feel almost bad not being the devotee I hoped I would be, does that sound silly?

Haha I so know what you mean!! I was dearly hoping to join the club - especially as my Beauty Therapist often tries to get me to switch over to Dermalogica. I was looking forward to saying "Dermalogica!" when she asked me what products I'd been using lately. Oh well. I'll keep looking! It's just too bad about the amounts of money that get spent in these quests...

The only thing I have ever purchased from the Dermalogica range is the Skin Prep Scrub - which I'm not using for my face currently as I'm trialing other products with a "no manual scrub" policy. However, I have been using it all over my upper back and on my decolletage, as I find sooooo many body scrubs are too watery, not fine enough, and just don't leave me skin feeling smooth enough, and this one is wonderful for averting breakouts, getting rid of all the dead skin cells and really refining everything. I refuse to purchase products and then not use them, so I'm always finding alternative uses for things - day lotions as day neck creams, night creams as night neck creams, serums underneath hand creams, etc.

That way, at least the multiple things we trial in our endless quest for clear, glowing skin are getting used and our money is not completely being wasted!

Girls I would have to have been the biggest Dermlogica fan on the forum. I have loved this brand unconditionally for over ten years now.

I really love Dermalogica and have many products that I now couldn't live without. However having said that I have now formed a new love affair with Alpha-H, Ultraceauticals and Mario Badescu. This doesn't mean that I love Dermalogica any less it just means that I have found other brands that I feel work better for me and my skin.

I think when buying skin care you need to make an informed choice, here are some points to coinsider:

What works for others may not work for you.

What is your skin type and what condition is your skin in. Do you have any areas of concern that need addressing?

What do you want your skincare to do for your skin?

What are the ingredients in the skin care? Does it contain aha's etc, essential oils or is it oil free etc.

Choosing skin care can be a case of trial and error. I have been through so many brands before finding the ones that I love. If you are really unsure about what you need for your skin it really is the best option to go to a Beauty Therapist and get them to point you in the right direction. After all they are the experts and they have been around and know the brands that work and those that don't.

Hello lovely ladies,

Any reviews on Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion? Is it ok on sensitive skin that is also very oily?

Thank you :)

I have tried a a range of Dermalogica samples of late. Here are my thoughts...
I liked the Essential Cleansing Solution & would purchase this. Cleansed my skin gently & left it feeling supple.
I loved the Precleanse until about half an hour later when my eyes wouldn't stop watering for an hour & half :tears: I really wanted to get this product but it seems my eyes are too sensitive.
The Soothing Make up Remover was so so. Panda eyes in the morning. :shakehead:
I am currently trying the Skin Hydrating Booster serum in the morning and I'm loving it. It soaks straight into my skin leaving no residue to upset my make up & my skin feels supple & hydrated. Adding this to my wishlist.

I ventured into my icecream container of samples last night, and decided to try my Precleanse. I'm quite impressed! My skin felt very clean after using it. Its amazing what an extra step can do.... I'm considering buying a full size bottle...

Dermalogica seem to react badly to many peoples' eyes. There are very few Dermalogica products that I can put anywhere near my eyes!! I also found the Soothing Makeup Remover pretty ordinary - it hurt my eyes AND didn't really remove the makeup too well.

I use pre-cleanse, but I don't put it anywhere near my eyes... I just use it on the rest of my face, I can't stop using it because it has made my skin so lovely and soft!

I used my sample of Anti-Bac Skin Wash. Was very nice to use! Unfortunately with this being a sample I don't get to see if it improves my skin in anyway, but I would purchase it.

I'm finding with Dermalogica after I apply the cleansers, the pads on my fingers go a little dry...or 'squeaky' if that makes sense?

I have loved dermalogica for years. However I am having a bit of an affair with Ultraceuticals, Alpha-H and Mario Badescu at the moment. The Dermalogica Precleanse is one of my HG products! Love it Love it Love it!

Lol, do you really have an icecream container of samples? That's pretty cute! I used to keep things in icecream containers when I was a little one. Maybe I should buy icecream again just to use the container...

Along with toilet rolls, icecream containers are THE cornerstone of "useful homemade stuff"!

I keep loose stuff in icecream containers in the fridge too.....

I must admit I have a bit of a thing for shoeboxes. Especially those 'good quality' ones made from strong cardboard and with good thick lids.

This is very helpful just in general terms. These are similiar to my own questions I ask myself these days...
I also think can I actually continue purchasing these products in the future? (i.e costs, product availability) and I've also started to think over purchases until the following day - I know the product is going to be there in the shop the next day so I think about it over night - no more impulse shopping for me!

The skin prep scrub is one of my all time favourite scrubs. Its a good one to use when you don't want to expose your skin to the active glycolic acid in things like microcleanse (which I also love).

The precleanse is absolutely gorgeous although I would have to say I am holding the Dermalogica Precleanse on the same par as L'Occitane's almond apple cleansing oil. The almond apple is a lot cheaper and you actually get more product than you do with the dermalogica. Either one is bautiful and I really can't choose a favourite so I will continue to use both and alternate.

I bought the ultracalming cleanser today, I used this tonight. it cleansed rather well, it didn't leave a greasy film afterwards, and my skin felt soft, clean and when I applied my trilogy moisturiser afterwards it was great, almost an hour later I can't help but touch my face!....

I've got some samples of some other dermalogica products, I will endeavour to review at a later date....

I have been using a sample of the Multivitamin Powerfirm eye cream for the past 4 days, morning and night.

Can't say I see a huge reduction in wrinkles (not a lot of them as yet thankfully) but what I do see is that my dark circles aren't as dark. This is absolutely bluddy amazing ladies! 4 days! I must get some when we are in Melbourne - this is fabulous stuff!:clapping:

shipping can cost a mint too so sometimes we are better off just paying nz prices. Im not going to get any dermalogica anyway. I like my low end alternatives, just as much if not more!.

You would be so good at that, MissV - and you have a natural talent for skincare/makeup oriented things - plus your lovely personality would be great in a serene, calming environment. :)

PS I have been dying to try the Daily microfoliant and Active moist moisturiser. Is the moisturiser very rich?

Lots of people say i have very soft hands, perfect for massaging!:chuckle:
I really like the daily microfoliant, its very gentle but does a good job exfoliating and the active moisturiser is actaully quite light, although i didn't put much on.

The Multi Vitamin Power Recovery Mask is even better when mixed with some honey. Makes skin even softer :)
