Do you pamper or neglect your feet?
I am terrible when it comes to feet maintenence! My feet are always the last things I think about. Have only had a pedicure a few times because I HATE other people touching my feet!
I purchased a new foot spa today to try and motivate myself to take better care of my feet. I like to add a few essential oils into the foot spa and let my tired feet soak. I use a foot file regularly and paint my toenails whan I can be bothered but I really don't pay my feet enough attention.

I have horrid feet! Long ugly toes and a huge size 10 foot! Would love to wear those flimsy sandles that are just gorgeous but one look on my foot and back they go!
I am lucky I dont get the ugly thickend heels as I am so lazy when it comes to looking after my feet! I am the queen of painting on another layer (sometimes different colour) toe polish to save me removing the other!

I have size ten feet to Luisa! Can be a pain because they can make some shoes look more like boats. Guess what? Our dear friend Paris Hilton has size ten feet as well. Now there's a bit of useless info for you! Lol

Probably Luisa but she simply has to be told "NO" our club is very exclusive. We don't let just anybody join! Maybe she could join the skanky feet club. I think that is more suited to her liking!

I have size 10 feet! Sometimes size 11! Finding shoes is a total pain so I'm not really a 'shoe girl'. I don't mind my feet, they aren't particularly ugly or weird, you only notice that they're big if you concentrate on them. I'm 6' so they're in proportion. I don't get pedicures but I keep them clean and my toenails neat by painting and trimming them regularly. I avoid cracked heels by using a pummice (sp?) stone and heel balm.

Feet in general are gross :vomit:
I do keep a tube of MD Formulations Pedicreme next to my bed, and apply it nightly (when I remember). I also can't stand bare toenails so I always have mine painted... can't stand anyone touching my feet though so I don't have pedicures, just do it myself :fish:

I would say I take pretty good care of my feet, I do suffer from hard skin :cryinggreen: in that area so I have to! - I love doing my own pedicures :hearts: and try to do one on a weekly basis, but I hate it when someone else touches my feet :vomit: so I've only ever had one professional pedicure - it's a shame because I would love to try one of the parrifin ones

Beauty Addict - I have had the Parraffin used on my hands & feet. It is very strange. It looks like a big tub of melted wax & they did you in it to coat the foot & let it sit for a while. A bit like a mask really. It was about 5yrs ago so I can't remember if it was any good or not? Its suppossed be like a moisture surge.
Luisa - I am the princess of painting over my toenail polish too. Its such a long process to redo them and a quick top coat does wonders, so why wouldn't you?
I have a professional nail range of Mancine foot products. The foot soak, scrub & cream. Has ingrediants like Saliyic acid, almond oil, vit A/E/D, aloe vera, Australian sand, glycerine, jojoba oil, glycolic acid & coconut oil. Scented with Peppiment of course. I'd forgotten how good they are. I must get out my foot spa. I hate setting it up & then cleaning it. I wish it came with a little elf to do all that & your pedicure too.

I HATE my feet. They're smallish but there's nothing cute about them. I don't get professional pedicures because I can't bear the thought of hearing "Oh my GOD! Hey everyone, look at this!"
I moisturise etc but I should really put a bit more effort in. I'm keen to try the Benefit Sandal Scandal cream and matching sockettes. Has anyone tried this? PCC?

My feet are gross. I too am a size 9 1/2 to 10 (I thought there weren't many others out there!!) but they are pretty well proportioned to me, being a smidge under 6ft tall. I MEAN to look after my feet but I just can't be bothered most of the time - they seem so far away! I often have dry bits on my heals and I have yucky bumps on my toes and heals from wearing inappropriate shoes too. Ooops!

Sounds like we aren't the minority we thought we were - I too have size 10 feet! Sometimes a 9 or 9.5 depending on the brand but most often I'm a tener!
Love pedicures! I go to those salons in the shopping centres that have the massaging chairs you sit in - I think a spa pedicure is like $40...not too bad at all. Prefer the pedicure at a day spa or somewhere where they put a bit more effort in (and do the paraffin wax - divine!). :p
Always have to have painted toenails - I think they look strange without it. I love Napoleon Chandelier Shine nailpolish - stays on for ages and doesn't chip (unless you drop something heavy on your toe of course!). I'm finding I can go a good two weeks before I want to either change colour or give my toenails a bit of a trim.

I have a foot fetish (my own feet that is). I spend 10-12 hours each day on my size 6 tootsies and another 30-50mins running, therefore, it is imperative that I keep my feet in good condition.
Each morning following my shower I apply Eulactol Balm to the soles of my feet and rub the top of my foot with body lotion.
A night after bathing I massage with OPI Foot Cream.
I give myself a pedicure weekly using OPI foot soak, scrub and lotion. I apply Qtica Solid
Gold Anti Fungal Cuticle Gel followed by OPI Nail Envy and whatever colour takes my fancy then either OPI or Zoya Top Coat.
(Touch wood), I have never suffered from dry skin or any foot problems to date. :D

I generally maintain my own feet, i pumice them in the shower, i hate the hard bits of skin you get from running/wearing stiletos etc....then give them a mini massage with massage oil and spruce up the polish, feet can look very good with a slap of fake tan and nice polish, im usually a size 8 to 8.5.
Sometimes i cant sleep if i dont moisturise my feet before i go to bed ha ha im such a freak :shakehead:
but i do LOVE my feet being touched im always trying to wrangle my boy into giving me a foot massage

This thread inspired me & tonight I did get my foot spa out & do a pedicure but without the nail polish as thats a whole other mission. The foot spa was great aside from having to share it with my 3 daughters! I used all my Mancine products, they really are divine. Now my feet feel smooth & soft. Must do it more often.
Can anyone vouch for those heel balms you see in the chemist? As I am often barefoot or in thongs my feet are getting really dry & building up hard soles.
I used to totally hate my feet when I was younger but now I like them. I think you need to groom them like the rest of your body - get rid of any hair, clean, scrub & moisturise them. Learn how to cut, file & paint your nails properly. Sure I still have the usual war injuries but they are groomed well enough for me to wear sandals & strappy heels & toe rings. Give it a go. :waving:

Hi Medusa, as per my thread, I can vouch for the Eulactol Heel Balm, I use it on the soles of my feet every morning and my feet are soooooo smooth.
NB if your feet are going to be in enclosed shoes for a long period on a hot day don't apply it as you may get blisters. :shakehead:

I have size 9 1/2 - 10 feet too!! I felt like the only one most of the time. I can never find cute little strappys and I hate it. I get so jealous seeing my sis with these pretty little things I cant fit into. Feet are gross and I hate ppl touching or even looking at my feet. The most I ever do is get rid of skin build up etc. and paint toenails. Toenails are gross too :vomit:

Medusa
19-01-2007, 09:00 PM
No don't shave them you'll only make the hair blacker & thicker. :(
Wax them regularly & they will eventually become sparser & finer. It takes a bit of practise but my tip is to make sure feet are really clean & dry before you start. Dirt or sweat will stop the wax from working effectively. When doing your toes, I put the wax on all of them then curl my toes over to keep the skin tight, apply the strip then rip it all of together. I also do mine at night or the day before the will be seen as I tend to get the little red bumps for a couple of hours after. I apply Aloe Vera to them.

I think I must be one of the few people that actually like my feet!!! I don't spend a huge amount of time looking after them though, but paint my toenails pretty regularly.
My favourite thing though is to make my own foot scrub with sweet almond oil, salt and a few drops of an aromatherapy oil (whatever smell I'm feeling like at the time). Rub into each foot for about 5 minutes and then rinse in warm water and pat dry. Makes your feet feel so lovely and soft, plus it's cheap and easy and you can make it scented however you like!!

Just wanted to recommend a foot care product here that I have been using for a couple of months now & loving it.
NS-8 Heel Balm Complex. The soles of my feet are always pretty dry as I am barefoot alot & tend to wear thongs all the way thru summer. Although I always scrub & moisturise them, I was starting to get cracks on my heels. :flames: So I took myself off to the chemist to get a specific heel balm. I chose the NS-8 because I liked it's ingrediants the most, it doesn't contain Mineral oil. In fact most of the ingrediants are quite natural (grape seed oil, evening primrose, aloe vera, calendula, arnica, witch hazel, essential oils) but it also contains some great actives (AHAs & Vit C). I think it was under $10? for a 60g bottle. I only need a tiny bit. After a couple of weeks my cracked heels were healed & the skin is softer. Very happy with that little product! :penguin:

Medusa, worth checking out more of the NS range. They have the lip balm that I always rabbit on about, again with all natural ingredients.
I'm shy to say that I neglect my feet something shocking! :ashamed: I make them squeeze into shoes, they ache for hours while I make then stand on tippy toes (heels way to high for me), and never give them a nice sooking bath. I'm surprised they still look after me so well... :chuckle:

Yeah mine are pretty feral too Celeste! The problem is, if I wear closed-in shoes it's SOOO hot and my feet get sweaty and gross unless I wear socks (socks + ballet flats = celibate), but if I wear open sandal-type shoes (which I do 99% of the time) then my heels and toes get so dry and yuck no matter how much I pumice and moisturise!

I know, it's so unfair! It's because they wear shoes and socks every day and we wear backless shoes a lot of the time - the more you wear backless shoes, the more pressure is put on your heel skin and calluses and cracks start to form!

I think that the shape of your foot would have an effect on the condition of your feet as well (depending on which part of your foot receives the most pressure I guess). My mum has a fairly flat foot (ie no really defined arch), and her heels seem to get most of the damage. So she started using TBS Mango body butter a couple of years ago & it has made a huge difference.
I found that it's nice as well, but a tad too greasy for me, so I've been using Korres Guava body butter which isn't quite as oily and I exfoliate with the Davies Gate buckwheat buffing soap (which is a good alternative to a pumice stone). I've got pretty good results from that.

The creams can then do their job on the soft skin. They are designed to only remove hard skin, so they are not dangerous.

Oooh I should get one of these what-have-yous. No matter how much I pumice, I always get build-up on my heels from wearing open shoes all the time.

:waving: Yes it has made a huge difference to the look and feel of my feet. They are not expensive and they come with extra double sided blades so you will get a couple of years out of it.
Best do it when your home alone, some people find it gross. Doesn't bother me at all. I can remember 'when I was young' my mum soaked her feet in a bucket until they were all squishy and wrinkly and then shaved the hard skin off.
