Can anyone recommend a good suncreen that I can apply under foundation that isn't tinted or built into a moisturiser?

I was going to suggest the Ultaceauticals Protective Moist with SPF 30, but it's built into a moisturiser. Sorry

Megan Gale Invisible Zinc, maybe?

Yeah, I was going to suggest that one too, I use it underneath foundation or tinted moisturizer everyday, and it's actually an excellent mattifier and almost acts like a primer. And you won't get better protection from the sun without the horrid suncare ingredients with this one.

One worth trying and is in the sunscreen section as opposed to the moisturiser section is the Hamiltons Everyday face. It has SPF 30 and is lightweight. It looks like it has a tint but does not add any colour. It has this to counteract any whiteness that is typical of sunscreens. It says it has moisturising benefits though I still wear my moisturiser or serum under this. Make sure you wear a moisturiser under foundation as it helps the foundation to look more even and less patchy and the pigments in foundation may dry your skin. Promotes itself as being "matte" too.

As recommended by you girls in the forum I have purchased the Megan Gale Invisable Zinc. However I am a bit confused!!! Do I use it as a moisturiser or do I put it on over my moisturiser?

You can do either! I usually wear it over moisturiser, unless I am in a really humid climate (or am feeling lazy  ). It goes on best if you warm it up between your hands first, then press over the face and smooth it in.

After purchasing Megan Gale Invisible Zinc I gave it a try on the weekend. My first thoughts were yuck as it took ages to absorb into my skin but I loved the matt feeling it left behind once absorbed. I'm going to stick with it for a while yet and will report back on how I'm finding it!

I find Megan Gale's sunscreen is very very thick! It just never absorbs.

I use Shu Uemura UV Base SPF17+. It's designed to go under foundation and it's not tinted. Great stuff! (although you have to get it from overseas :-( )

I bought the Skinceuticals sunscreen. It's really thick too. I end up just putting a bronzer over it as the thought of a foundation as well is too much. Anyone else found this?

thats what im scared of

normally moisturisers with sunscreen are quite thick and seperating them means you're layering ontop of sunscreen, which alone is quite thick!

my skin is a little oily - dry at times. would i be better having a combined sunscreen/moisturiser or using them seperately?

so confused

I did try the Jurlique SPF30 on my hand last week and it wasn't nearly as thick. Give that a try maybe.

Tim Tam, try the Ultraceuticals one that was in your summer essentials kit - it won't make your skin greasy :)

I definitely recommend Biotherm's WHITE DETOX UV EXTRA UV Protect Fluid SPF 50 / PA +++

It has very high SPF and its not oily one bit and it absorbs into your skin instantly. Very suitable for oily skin and although it comes in a small tube, its very economical and can last for ages. I use it everyday even and it's last me for over 6 months. You cant get it in Australia tho.. I got mine from Malaysia.

I've heard great reviews for Dermalogica's Solar Defense Booster SPF 30.

Hi Girls,
Now that I have tried both the Megan Gale Invisable Zinc and the Ultraceuticals Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF30+ I am ready to hand down my findings!!

The Megan Gale Invisable Zinc is very thick and takes a while to absorb. I tried warming it between my fingers to see if that helped but it didn't make a lot of difference. The benefit it has is that it dries Matte and you probably won't get shiny at all wearing this. I will probably use this one when I go to the beach or swimming. It is a little heavy for my liking to try and put makeup over.

The Ultraceuticals Protective Daily Moisturiser is awesome! I usually hate moisturisers with sunscreen but this is beautiful. It also dries matte but has the benefit of being a moisturiser at the same time (no fuss and only one step). I am inlove with this product!!! It has a beautiful consistency (quite thick) and absorbes very quickly. If I had the choice of which one to buy I would definitely go with the Ultraceuticals.

Hope this helps:)

I have to keep my Alpha H sunscreen aside for days without tinted moisturiser or foundation as it is another one that is super-thick and a bit on the greasy side.

The Dermalogica Solar Defense booster is supposed to turn your existing moisturiser (any brand) into a sunscreen by adding this dropper potion to it. Think I might get this one to mix with my Clarins Tinted Moisturiser (sadly only an SPF 6).

I used my Ultraceuticals one yesterday morning for the first time and i was pleasantly surprised!! It didnt feel like sunscreen at all - unlike all the other moisturisers with SPF i have tried before!! Did leave mu skin a little whiter than usual but i put makeup on anyway so no big deal!

I have the Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster. All you do is add two to three drops in with your moisturiser or even use it alone. The only thing that concerns me is how do you know if you have put enough in or not?

Did you get your Clarins SPF 40 overseas? Australian regulations unfortunately limit SPF claims to 30+ here despite some giving well over SPF 100. The official reason is that they do not want to give consumers a false sense of how long a sunscreen will protect because despite the SPF, it still needs to be reapplied frequently.
