Hi team :waving:
I am new to this forum and I must say so far i have enjoyed reading all your questions/advice and trying to come up with some answers of my own! But now, it is time for me to ask a question!!!!
My skin has recently cleared up after some mild/moderate acne - a condition I have had for years! This is the best it has been for some time due to some medication the doctor gave me.
Now, I can focus on improving other aspects of my skin! I have noticed some enlarged pores on and around my nose. What is something I could do to reduce their size! Any products you suggest? And are they likely to clear up on their own with prolonged use of my medication - Are enlarged pores related to acne, or are they an entirely different story altogether!
So many questions...

:waving: Welcome Bellastyle!
I've been told by numerious "ladies" at skin care counters that there isn't anything this you can really do about enlarged pores, I have them as well. I've tried a few products over the years, can't remember exact names but they were from the Clinique and Clarins range.
The Clinique stuff did absolutely nothing for me and I have just started using one from Clarins in conjunction with a purifying mask but I've only been using it since Monday so I'll have to let you know when I've been using it a bit longer!
I would be interested in hearing what Allison has to say about this one - any product that reduce enlarged pores would be worth it's weight in gold!

I also have slightly enlarged pores on my cheeks in the areas close to my nose...
and would also love to hear if there's anything out there to help minimise the look of them at least...

Clinique do a range of pore minimising products including a mask, scrub and topical formula to apply after moisturising. I have them all but as I don't really suffer with enlarged pores I can't really comment on their performance  (which begs the question what am I doing with these products:rolleyes:)!!
Firstly we need to work out why your pores are enlarged. Luisa Brown might be a good one to discuss this with. Are you using a moisturiser compatitble with your skin type. Is your skin oily?
I would suggest asking Luisa, Kate or Allison (our three resident beauty gurus) about this matter.
Good luck and thanks for sharing with us!

Hi Girls,
It is hard to 'reduce pores', however in keeping them free from congestion they should look far more refined.
The used of Alpha Hydroxy acids in your skin care routine may help with refining the overall texture of the skin and keeping the mores looking minimal and free from congestion.
The MD Formulations continuous renewal lotion is excellent and can be used each evening after cleansing (before moisturising):http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=3847
The Alpha H liquid gold is also fantastic:http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewItem.asp?idproduct=381
as is the Ultraceuticals Even Skintone Serum: http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewItem.asp?idproduct=1829
of course exfoliating two to three times a week with a good quality granulated exfoliant will also help.
I could go on forever (as they type of moisturiser and serum you use is also important).. but if you have any indvidual concerns feel free to post a new thread in the 'ask allison' section of the forum and I will answer as soon as I can!

I've tried the Clinique pore minimising treatment a couple of years ago, but didn't see any different at all.
I'm currently using an Ella Bache Cleanser for combination skin (which I have - only oily/enlarged pores in the t-zone area) and one of their scrubs specifically designed to target blackheads.
I just purchased from Clarins (yesterday) a treatment gel - I can't remember the name but I know it's not the lotus oil or the one beginning with S?? and an aromatic face fask - the assistant said they would help reduce the oil and tighten pores - will have to wait and see!

Good Luck Beautyaddict,
Please let us know how you go with it. Remember if you don't see an improvement you can always ask Luisa, Kate or Allison as they are very good at sorting out skin concerns.

Enlarged pores are no fun and as we (I hope!) all know you cant "open" and "close" pores. What you can do if refine their appearance with products containing alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids (salicylic acid).
Ideally you will want to keep pores free of excess sebum and dirt and products containing these ingredients will certainly make an improvement. Masks and exfoliators are an important part of the regime of someone with enlarged pores.
Dont go crazy on the cleansing or exfoliation, 2-3 times a week is fine. By refining the skin's texture you should see an overall improvement. Good luck!:waving:

wow what great feedback!
i currently am keeping a simple skin care routine due to my terrible skin! i use a tea tree cleanser and follow with olay moisturiser.
today i am incorporating dermalogica daily microfoliant into my routine. it has salicylic acid in it (like Luisa suggested).
I am also incorporating the proactiv skin refining mask.
hopefully this will help !!!

Hi there Bellastyle,
It would be so worth considering the Alpha H starter pack for your skin. Has the most amazing synergistic (working together) effect on any scaring you may have and will really help to refine your skin and pores. Get the one with the Triple Action Cleanser (sorry not a fan of the tea tree cleanser on a regular basis and not giving you a proper cleanse either). Go easy on any Proactiv too my dear! Better choices are the Hydrating Glycolic Mask followed by the Purifying Clay mask. Please let us know how you go. You will not believe the effect these products will have on your skin in such a short time!

Your Olay (which one is it?). Others to consider is the Ultraceuticals Protective Moisturiser with 30+, this one is great as it includes anti-oxidents which I strongly believe in for your age. For a basic one Hamilton's Everyday Face which is enough of a moisturiser for this time of the year. It has a tint but dont be put off , it doesnt deposit any colour, they just include it to neutralize that typical whiteness of a sunscreen. Lovely, oil free and light-weight.

Oooh Bellastyle the hydrating glycolic mask from Alpha-H is my all time fave! It's beautiful. It makes my skin glow! I also got an Alpha-H starter pack when I first trialed the brand. I am now a huge Alpha-H fan! Eventhough Alpha-H isn't as widely advertised as some other brands it is so worth giving it a go!! I also can't say enough about Dermalogica skincare!

i use olay complete. i am not thrilled with it, so i am in the market for a new moisturiser. probably my favourite moisturiser is dermalogica active moist, what do you think of that product luisa?
i love dermalogica too, pinkcupcake. in fact, you have inspired me to start a dermalogica product review thread (why is there not one already?!)! you must leave your opinions!

Just checked out the ingredients of the Active Moist. Sounds good but with the Alpha H you dont need any extra "refining ingredients" and you would still have to use a sunscreen as it does not contain any.Sorry! Also, from your Napolean thread you seem to have a mild addiction to foundations and concealers, please go easy and make sure you cleanse properly.:waving:

lol...mild addiction. you would be correct there. i tend to be pretty pedantic about my skincare as well though.
ahhh yes i would prefer a moisturiser with a sunscreen. i have recently discovered the importance of sunscreen!! will have at look at the others you suggested. thanking you greatly!!!!

Gosh, I am so glad I didnt offend you!! Thought about it after I had posted!
I know you love your active moist but there are certainly better formulations out there to keep your skin young and gorgeous! And dont forget that cleansing!!

Came across something interesting this morning. Keep in mind it is designed for oily skin WITH enlarged pores. Not sure about its availibilty here though.
