I've been using the same cleanser and moisturiser for 2years now and i'm finding that i'm looking for a new routine. My skin is ok no major disasters but i feel like my skin has become immune to the products.
I want opinions,do you believe in sticking what you know and what know works or spice it up with new fresh products every 2 or more years?
I'm really interested to see what every thinks.

Hi PP - I know what you mean - I was in a rut until recently. For the past 10 years I'd been using clinique 3 step and felt it was time for a change!
The first different range I tried was Aveda but I didn't think much of it! - Promised lots but didn't seem to deliver anything, and it's on the REALLY pricey end - so
I moved onto Ella Bache - I'm currently using their cream cleanser and face scrub (great for blackheads - as I have oily skin I do tend to get small blackheads on my nose and this scrub has cleared them all away after using it twice this week!) The cleanser is going well - I think I'll stick to this for a while. I wasn't sure at first as it felt a bit "thing" for a cream cleanser but it seems to be working and it smells delish! - well worth looking at:waving:

Beauty addict that is so weird because i was thinking of changing to the 3 step clinique program. But i don't like the DDML and i feel its too expensive because i have found a cheaper moisturiser that suits aswell. I love the mild liquid soap cleanser.

I always change my routine after awhile, my skin changes, but maybe also because I have not really found a cleanser/moisturizer I like to stick to. Just ordered beauty and bees cleanser and moisturizer to try. See how that goes.

Hi PP - I was a Clinique girl for many, many years, and then would change to something else, go back to Clinique, and so on. I used to have cupboards full of half-used bottles of everything under the sun. I also don't like to spend squillions on skincare/makeup, as I have learnt in my maturing years that no cream will get rid of wrinkles and fine lines that nature has taken years to create. I have found Paula's Choice skincare products excellent (can order over the Internet) and I have actually been using these products for most of last year and haven't felt the need to change (which is amazing for me). My skin is far clearer and brighter now than ever before (albeit for the odd hormone-induced chin pimple), and if it continues like this I will be very happy. I just have to learn to live the laugh lines and grey hair!

Princess Precious, can you tell us what you have been using? Particularly any "extra" products like an exfoliator, mask, serum etc?
A change might be the kick start your skin needs or the other saying my dear, when it aint broke dont fix it! Do tell us your routine though! Lol!:D

I am a complete skincare floosy. I always swap and change then go back to something I really like and then change again!
I am always well stocked with Dermalogica because this is my very favourite brand of skincare and if my skin goes a bit ferral I always revert back to it. So for me my Dermalogica is a safety net.
I am so inquisitive about new products and trying out the latest things that I do tend to swap and change a lot. Well at least this way I never get bored.
I think it's good to give your skin a change in products from time to time. I must say if I used the same thing for years I would probably get so bored I would stop cleansing etc altogether! The thing about new products is that they are fun, and it is soooo nice trying out all the different things and seeing the results they produce.
Note: Warning: overdosing on Aha's and other active ingredients can have catastrophic results:redcheeks:! Please get professional recommendations before you start using active ingredients!

Great advice pcc!! Dont think you will ever do that AHA overdose again!
Being the massive beauty junkie, have to try everything kind of gal I have lots to choose from and do change routine quite often. Of course there are staples that I have mentioned previously that I would NEVER be without but it is fun trying the new and fabulous (or as they promise!)
Next to try are Prevage or Priori Even Tones (both contain Idebenone, a super antioxident, Shi'jano cream and serum (clinically tested)and the Skinceuticals Retinol serum.

Clinique is my safety net (no surprises there ) for cleanser, toner and moisturiser but I do like to mix up the fun extras i.e. exfoliants, peels, masks, serums etc.
I reckon Allison would have some good ideas for you PP

I agree i like to have staples as well, like moisturiser and cleanser but the rest i like to change to whatever takes my fancy or what ic an afford at the time eg. eye cream , exfoliator etc.
My current staples are:
Morning:
Loreal Visible Results with spf
Dove deep cleansinf cream
Extras:
Olay regenerist serum
Night:
Loreal Happerderm Mousse cleanser
Rosehip oil (never changing this)
Lucas Paw Paw ointment (never changing this)
Extras:
Clinique all about eyes or body shop vitamin c eye revive
Other extras that are used every so often:
Exfoliator: St Ives Apricot Scrub
All i really want to change is my night time cleanser and my day time moisturiser everything else i'm happy with or i have already bought a replacement.
I've definately decided i'm over the Loreal products at the moment, they are great products but i just need a change. They say a change is as good as a holiday.

Have you checked out the Dove (formerly Ponds) and the Nivea Visage ranges? They are competitively priced with the Loreal. Make sure you choose a cleanser that will remove make up and sunscreen for evening, perhaps avoid the wash off varieties and save for the shower in the morning. Depending on your skin type, I would continue to use the Regenerist Serum as a night cream. It is a very underrated products and ahead of its time in its use of peptides. May be enough for your skin at night?
If you want to spend a bit more (??$35) I have just trialled a Dr Lewinn's Gentle Facial cleanser trial size (green one )that I took down to the beach with me. I didnt realise what a fabulous cleanser this was. Has Aloe vera gel, apricot oil, almond oil,. avocado oil, squalane (believe its from olives), vit a and e. It really dissolves makeup and is so soothing, do need to tone or at least use a face washer afterwards to remove entirely. Might be looking at a full size for myself!

I'm like Pinkcupcake - I'm a beauty flirt. As happy as I might be with a product I am always on the search for a better one & manufacturers are always improving & inventing.
Luisa - I want to hear your reviews on your "next to try"s.
For around $30 the Trilogy range of moisturisers are very good

I know, Medusa, there is always something new out there. I want the new Prevage eye cream but I have so many (even unopened!) and I really MUST attempt to use up some product. I have a girlfriend who only buys when she is completely finished. She will quite literally run out of stuff before she buys more - if only!!
Medusa, what in particular did you want me to review? Just back from hols and seems as though I have responded to so many threads! Agree, the trilogy range is beautiful and has had some good editorial.

May I make a random suggestion, have thought of trialling a natural brnad such as Dr Hauschka - cleanse, tone and moisturise. Start there and then if you want to you could try any other products but keeping it simple I've noticed my skin is 10 times better!

I just picked up a little information booklet on Trilogy on Friday Medusa. I have had a few Trilogy products in the past and they were great. Think I might have to invest in this brand this week! What are your favourite Trilogy products Medusa?

Thanks for your imput Alice! Us gassbaggers and forum old-timers tend to get a bit carried away! Great suggestion, I just love the cleansing cream.

I have tried in the Trilogy range;
the rosehip oil - as good as any other brand.
The cream cleanser - nice but didn't rinse as clean as I prefer.
The vital moisture cream - love it. Similar to the Aesop Primrose one I am currently using.
Purifying mask - great clay mask
Aromatic Body oil - have only used this once & can't remember? Sorry.
I have heard good things about the body lotion.
All their products are rosehip oil based.

Just a quick question - there have been a lot of good things said about Rose hip oil as a night treatment. Would that still be a good option for combination/oily skin?
Luisa Brown

Hi Toastie, although I dont think it would aggrevate your skin dont know if it's the best option for you although for the price, it would certainly be worth a try. With any oil, it is best to have the skin slightly moist underneath as although oil and water dont mix, having the skin moist will encourage the oil to penetrate better. Make sure you only use a few drops and press into your skin rather than rubbing.
One product worth investigating is the Clarins Lotus Oil. It is a corrective treatment for oily/comb skins that is used at night time. Their oils are heavenly and long lasting.
Let us know what you try.:waving:

Toastie,
Rosehip oil is one that absorbs straight into the skin without the oily residue so I would say yes try it. It is very inexpensive & lasts for ages. It is a skin renewal oil & I have had success using it on scars, dehydration lines, dry spots, rashes & burns.

I've become a big fan of Rosehip oil after logging onto the Adore forum months ago for the first time. And it wasn't dissapointed when i tried it, i have dry skin and i can't wait to put it on at night because it's such a relief on my skin. I don't put it on my t-zone very often because it a little oily.
Personally i wouldn't reccommend Rosehip oil for oily skin because it might be too much.

Hi Toastie.
Eleusian, an Australian Company, make a variety of organic Rose Hip Oils.
Calmative - for sensitive, reddened, allergic or irratated skin. It contains pure organic Rose Hip oil with Aloe Vera.
Regenerative - night time treatment with pure organic Rose Hip oil, vitamin C&E, lavender and patchouli.
Resplendant - night time anti-aging fine line & wrinkle smoother.
I also used the Regenerative oil on severe burns to my hand (yes oil, recommended by a naturpath) and to my delight it took the burning sensation and pain form the wound, promoted instant healing and I do not have a residual scar.
I mainly use these oils as sporadic treatment oils. :D

Hi Louisa,
How's the prevage eye cream going? I'm starting a sample and want to know if it actually works.
I'm 28 yrs old and wonder if the prevage range is more suitable for more mature skin?
I was told today that it's not a good idea to use products that are not for your age range as it makes your skin 'lazy', and products won't be as effective once you get to the appropiate age for that product.
I'm getting older - and it's winter, so am getting fine lines, dry skin and generally a more tired look . Is prevage my answer?? Never used eye creams so lookingfor one today was overwhelming! Each one had a promise and almost felt like buying them all
