Have you spotted any new skincare products lately? If you have please share it with us here on the forum!
Today I spotted (then subsequently purchased) two new products from the Clinique range!
All About Eye's Rich - Is a more potent blend of botanicals than the original All About Eyes and supposedly works a treat on dark circles and puffiness! Will let you know what I think after I use it.
Take The Day Off Cleansing Lotion - Supposedly very gentle and soothing. I love lotion cleansers so thought I would give it a go! Will report back when I have used it!

Courtesy of Allure mag, I have discovered two interesting additions...
Murad Intensive Wrinkle Reducer "collagen boosting marine extrats and glycolic acid with clarifying cinnamon (??!) extract to soften and smooth". Became available just recently in the US.
Origins (anyone used their skin care?) has released Youthtopia with an exotic Russian herb called Rhodiola rosea, argireline, soy peptides, vit c and sodium hyaluronate amongst other things. Claims to "increase cell energy to protect skin against aging from pollution and stress. The Rhodiola helps to regulate chemical imbalances of the body whether from biological or environmental factors". Sounds like an ingredient to watch!
Also, not quite skin care but Laura Mercier has just released a book called "The New Beauty Secrets: Your Ultimate Guide to a Flawless Face. Hope our bookstores get a hold of this one soon!

I love Origins! They do great lip glosses (that tingle mmmmm), great body products and masks/shampoos etc.
I've used the Ginger shampoo and conditioner - wasn't the best but it was nice.
LOVE the Grapefruit shower gel, body souffle and dry oil spray. Mmmm so fruity!!
And the hydrating mask is nice too - I should start using that on my cheeks and the Benefit clay mask on the t-zone!

Guys, sorry, dont bother with the Laura Mercier book! Had it in Borders and it really is so basic with too many pics of celebrities who have had their make up done by her. Not bad for a large hardcover at $50 but way too basic for us adoreables!
Did pick up The Skin Type Solution, A Revoloutionary Guide to Your Best Skin Ever by Dr Leslie Baumann (saw this on an overseas website). Can claim this on my tax too, yeah!!

I've just got the new Ego Sun Sense Aftersun creme gel (under $10?) in the chemist. It has a green holographic label. Its an antioxidant Moisturiser with grapeseed polyphenols, Vit C & E. Apparently the antioxidents stop the free radicals caused by sun exposure to reduce skin damage. It has a light consistancy & no scent.

I'm having a body shop aprty in a couple of weeks and recieved the new catalogue the other day. OMG!!! They have some great new products for skincare.
Vitamin E - They have a new Day cream with SPF 15 in it, it comes in a pink tive. Very excited.
Vitamin C - Night Treatment
Seaweed - I think its for Acne prone/oily skin
Aloe Vera - Sensitive skin
Moisture white - Its a little expensive but OMG it hs some great products, it aims to aid your complexion making it luminous and healthy looking. They have a mouse to foam cleaners, a powder to foam cleanser (very intersted) and the usual toners, moisturisers etc but they have a serum that brightenins your skin. I'm very interested in the range however its a little high priced for my budget.
I was so excited when i saw the new products i just wanted to get on here and tell everyone about them. As you can tell i love me some body shop.

Hi all! My first time here :chuckle:
A few of days ago I bought this Missha Strawberry Yogurt Mask (http://www.missha.com.au/products/index.php?page=3&f_sid=15&f_pid=5&b_sid=).
It smells absolutely YUM!
I have tried it twice so far. It also feels very smooth when massaging onto skin.
After washing off skin feels quite soft and clean. Not oily or anything.
At the moment there is only one store in VIC and that's the box hill store.
Some of their make up are pretty good too. I bought a mascara and lip gloss!

Hi again,
Had a look at the Missha website and confirmed my suspicions! Like the Face Shop in the Jam Factory and in the city, this company is South Korean. I am sure we will see more and more of these stores hit town. Personally I wouldnt use their skin care but they usually have a cheap and comprehensive makeup and accessories (sponges, brushes etc). I lie, I do have a honey based hand cream from them and used it when I was desperate for lip balm and it was great!
I must admit the eyeshadows at Face Shop look sensational with colours reminiscent of MAC but uh oh, nowhere near the intensity of pigment and blendibility. I do have to say that they do the best lip pencils and have finally found a colour I will buy forever!
Cheap and cheerful, Laura loves to "play" in these stores. We havent seen the last of them either!

I was in the chemist today looking for a body cream for my Nan when I spotted a great product. I was searching among the QVs, Hydaderm etc when I saw a chemist brand called Total E Cream in a 250g white pump pack for $15.95.
I always read the ingrediants lists & was happy to find this one was free of lanolin & Mineral Oil, in fact I was quite impressed by the quality of the contents. This is how it reads: Evening Primrose Oil, Rosehip oil, Vit E, Vit B5, Retinyl Palmitate & preservatives - Methyyl Hydroxybenzate, Phenoxyethanol.
They also do this cream with a sunscreen too. :clapping: It aborbed straight into my skin & has no scent.
This particular chemist was Blooms by it is manufactured by Pharmacy Life, NSW.

The ingredient list is impressive but do be aware that even though it is called Total E, if you have copied the ingredient list in order, it seems to have more EPO and Rosehip oil in it - nothing wrong with that though! Glad you found a product that suits and saved some dosh!:clapping:

A lot of products even "natural" ones have phenoxyethanol as a preservative.
It does worry me a bit. A list with chemical ingredients states: phenoxyethanol toxic to kidney and bladder, can cause serious damage to eyes, causes reproductive disorders and brain degeneration.
Now I know it is only a tiny amount being used, but it can all add up. Just something that worries me at times.

Elizabeth Arden (besides 8 hour cream has anyone used any of their skin care?) have launched Intervene, Pause and Effect Moisture Cream and Lotion with SPF 15. Though there is little clinical data, EA says Intervene, with Biodormin, narcissus bulb extract, soy, red clover extract, sodium hyaluronate, sodium PCA and glycerin works to slow down cell turnover. Most creams on the market claim to speed up cell turnover but EA wants to slow them down to protect the matured cells against environmental damage thus delaying the appearance of wrinkles. Interesting concept. Testers noticed an improvement around eyes after two weeks.

Mecca Cosmetica have launched CINQ Mondes skin/body care range. Looks impressive and have ordered:
Rain of Rose Petals Softening Bosy Lotion
De fleurs Face and Neck Lotion
Will report back once they arrive.
Also at Mecca I have noticed they are selling sample packs of N.V Perricone Products. They have little packs for most skin conditions and also an eye care one. This would be goos for those wishing to trial N.V Perricone products. www.meccacosmetica.com.au

Roc has been around in Europe for a very long time and was sold only at chemists.
It is now owned by Johnson and Johnson.
It always got mixed reviews,it is supposed to be designed for sensitive, dry skin with fewer irritants than other products.
I cannot recall ever trying it so I cannot really tell what it is like.
I saw it at Priceline yesterday. Ah and they do animal testing!

Inspired by the Aboriginal Dreamtime and made from native Australian, organic ingredients, all Li'Tya products are packaged in brown glass pharmaceutical bottles and jars and neutral and mud brown tubs and tubes with an earthy and organic personae.

Li'tya's first incarnation was as a niche mid-priced skincare line called Baiame, we used to stock it :) Beautiful products but the packaging and pricing were not quite right. The company relaunched it as Li'tya and aimed it at the day spa market, where I believe it has done much better. The Lillypilly cleanser is gorgeous and so is the macadamia moisturiser.

Here's a list Allison! Unfortunately, the list of companies that test on animals is extensive :( They include L'Oreal (which includes Biotherm, Lancome, Ralph Lauren and Redken), Coty (they make a million of our favourite perfumes), Neutrogena, Olay, Calvin Klein and Elizabeth Arden. My principles tell me to avoid these companies....but the reality is a lot harder :(
melissa9419
03-03-2007, 09:39 PM
Although I don't agree with testing on animals -not with make-up or skincare anyway (medical science I can see the necessity), but logistically, listing these companies is difficult - especially as you also have to consider that cosmetic companies that claim to not test on animals would have suppliers - and you would never know if these suppliers tested on animals.
FYI: I had an argument with a colleague of mine who used to work for a laboratory and she said they tested on animals in the most horrible way "under the radar". She is not an animal lover - if you know what I mean, and said they used to feed the local "strays" (cats), and if they needed to do animal testing they would just go outside and find one.
I was disgusted (I own two beautiful cats - and suggested to her that some of these might have been pet without collars etc :( ), but she said I was naive to think that (cruel) animal testing shouldn't or didn't occur these days (said she had spoken to friends who still work there, and it still goes on, and she wouldn't say who the company was ).

I love all things Stella McCartney. Just noticed she has released a new skincare range. Spotted on Sephora website.
It's all organice and 'green'. Foaming cleanser and moisturising fluid both contain glycerin and alcohol. Am I stupid? Do beauty products need them? It makes me think 'they're all the same so I might as well buy J&J'. Hmmf.

Hi there! Interesting looking range. I checked out the ingredients of the Foaming Cleanser and despite the addition of alcohol and glycerin this is packed with a host of natural ingredients too. Glycerin is a humectant, so attracts moisture to the skin. Alcohol might be included for its preservative qualities or to reduce oily residue from the oilier ingredients??? Wonder if we will see this range in Australia?
Kate (Staff)
09-03-2007, 10:16 AM
Many of the extremely "natural" ranges (including Dr Hauschka and Jurlique) include alcohol in their formulas, as a carrier and preservative for the plant ingredients. So perhaps it's in the Care range for the same reason.
http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/brand_dr.hauschka_faq.asp#alcohol
Q: Why do some of the Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products contain alcohol?
A: Herbs and flowers are the core of Dr.Hauschka Skin Care preparations and many are extracted in a mixture of alcohol and water. Dr.Hauschka products contain high quality alcohol distilled from fermented fruits, potatoes or grain. It is denatured with essential oils of rose or rosemary.
This alcohol is distinctly different from the isopropyl alcohol that is commonly found in cosmetics. Isopropyl alcohol is synthesized from mineral oil, toxic if consumed and drying to the skin. Isopropyl alcohol is never used in Dr.Hauschka Skin Care products.
The percentage of alcohol found in our products does not approach a concentration that is harmful in any way and is not drying to the skin. As the carrier of healing plant extracts, the alcohol is part of our carefully composed formulations. A natural emulsifier and stabilizer, alcohol acts as a preservative and helps ingredients like essential oils to penetrate the skin.
Medusa
09-03-2007, 01:07 PM
I understand the preservative thing but at what point do you think alcohol becomes a problem? ie: drying for the skin. Where in the ingrediants list should it be listed. I always thought preservatives were listed at the end?
Kate (Staff)
09-03-2007, 01:31 PM
Ingredients lists show the ingredients in order from highest to lowest concentrations. Preservatives usually come at the end because they are present in minuscule amounts (e.g. 0.1%). With the Dr.Hauschka products, alcohol will appear higher up the list because they use it as a carrier for the distilled plant concentrates... however the products don't list percentage concentrations.
I'm not sure if there is a "maximum" alcohol percentage before the product becomes drying. In my 3 years of experience with Dr.Hauschka, I've only ever seen one product allergy (and that was to a plant extract), and we've never had any complaints about the products being drying - generally we find them excellent for clients with sensitive or reactive skin. Can't speak for the Stella McCartney range though, of course :)
Medusa
09-03-2007, 01:34 PM
I'm talking about all products in general. Get your super beauty powers out!
If alcohol is the first ingrediant listed then it has the highest % of product, that's not good is it? What about if you can smell the alcohol in it?
Kate (Staff)
09-03-2007, 01:45 PM
You wouldn't see many face products with alcohol as the first ingredient... maybe some nasty toners from a brand I won't name, but otherwise anything with alcohol as the first ingredient would most likely be a perfume or a nail polish remover or something like that. If you can SMELL the alcohol, that is probably not a good sign ;)

I know the brand you are referring to Kate which I also will not name. Your statement hit me like a lightening bolt and without even knowing the ingrdients I knew this one would have alcohol denate as the first listing in the ingredient list. I haven't used it for a few years but left the bottle in the back of my cupboard thinking I might use it one day. I just tipped it down the sink as my skin really didn't like it anyway.
Check the igrdients in your toners girls. Some of these with a lot of alcohol are down right nasty!

I'm not sure if these are new products or if i just haven't seen them before. I was browsing my local Priceline and was looking at the "She" section and they have a new skincare range which main ingredient is rosehip oil. They have a moisturiser, toner, cleaners and then they have a face serum treatment and an eye serum aswell i think. It was reasonably priced so when i run out of my current skincare products i;m onto She because i have dry skin the rosehip will be wonderful for my crusty skin. Also the packages and a beautriful pink colour.

Living Nature in Priceline? Wonderful - this is a fabulous brand for anyone into organics. Great for sensitive or break-out skin too, due to their use of soothing and anti-bacterial Manuka honey. I hope it is stocked in Perth, their priceline range always seems to be the last to get interesting stock- if at all!

I have been a lurker for some time so thought it high time that I posted. I spent 2 years in NZ and so wanted to like the Living Nature products but just couldn't stand the smell. I had previously used Jurlique and was looking for a natural range so gave it a try. Can't remember exactly what products I used but my super sensitive skin also wasn't happy!

I find that "all-natural" products can be really irritating for your skin. Even things like Dermalogica can be irritating because of all the essential oils.

Was in DJs today & spotted a new skincare range... although not sure how super new... just have never seen it before... it's called Pennington. And as I like to use more naturally based products & was an oz brand... this grabbed my eye... :spin:
Tried a bit of the moisturiser for Combo skin on my hand, & it seemed to sink into my skin really well... obviously I need to try it on my face too, but that's how I test alot of moisturisers first. If they feel greasy & heavy on the back of my hand... they fail the test for my combination skin... :shakehead:
Anyone tried their range or heard anything about it?
Here's a link...

While not currently new products, thought you might be interested in these articles. The first one talks about a new device designed to measure moisture levels in the skin and the second one is about using amino acids for lightening/brightening skin. Hydroquinine that is mentioned in the artilce, by the way, is actually still available in Australia but I believe at the 2% strength.

Soo if you're into organic and natural type products, you might be interested in Mukti. I have used the Sebogel (really good to get rid of blemishes) and the Gentle Face Exfoliant. I can honestly say it is the best exfoliator I have ever used and left my skin feel so beautiful and soft. As soon as I finish my current exfoliant I'm definitely going to purchase this again!

The Body Shop have a new range called Wise Woman. It comes in gold packaging and is supposedly their premium range of skincare. They say it is for mature skin but it felt so good I decided I would buy it anyway. I think it would be good for anyone with slightly dry skin at this time of year. I got the cleanser, softening lotion and serum all for $110!

I was in priceline today and saw loreal has a new makeup remover. Its called cashmere milk or something like that and I was very intrigued by it. On the back it also states its good for all skin types. I think they have a separate one for stubborn makeup like waterproof mascara and long wearing lipstick ect. I just wondered though, I use regular cleansing wipes to remover my makeup and then cleanse as normal with my gel cleaner. Do you adorables think its better to use a product designed especially for makeup removal?

Hey Serena, I think it's a personal choice. If your gel cleanser and wipes remove all your makeup (and you don't have any sensitivity issues) you probably don't need a separate one. I only use mine if I've had serious smokey eyes or waterproof mascara on.

I always use a makeup remover to take off all my makeup (loving Dermalogica precleanse at the moment) and then follow with my cleansing routine. I use Clinique's Take the day off Lips, lids and lashes to remove all my eye makeup. For some reason I just can't bring myself to use a celanser to take off my makeup. On the rare occasions that I do I make sure I cleanse twice.

I used some cleansing wipes last night for the first time in ages just to take my makeup off before cleansing and my skin didn't like it at all. I used the vitamin E ones from Priceline which I have used before without any drama but last night my face went extremely red and angry! It settled after I used my Clarins Cleansing Cream with Gentian but don't think I will be using the wipes again in a hurry. Anyone else had a similar experience?

I wouldn't buy the priceline ones again. Despite being good value I don't feel they are wet enough and tend to drag. They also leave my skin a bit prickly. When I use them I choose the Nivea or J&J ones.

My sister just called in to say a quick hello. :hugs: She has been o/s for the past 6 weeks on business. Whilst on a shopping spree she spotted the latest Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv products that are hailed as the most advanced skincare on the market presently. My sister is a beauty-a-nista shop-a-holic just like us and when she spotted these products thought of me straight away. :chuckle: The 2 products consist of a day cream and night cream. They replace all other products ie; serums/masks/eye cream/neck cream etc.......... The regime is simply to cleanse then use relevant cream. My sister has been using these products for the last 4 weeks and I swear she looks sensational given that she has been putting in 14 hour days and just landed from a 25 hour flight. :shockedhair: The appauling news is that these creams cost US$900. I already have the Cleanser, softening lotion (toner complete with real gold flakes), serum, eye cream and day cream from the Estee Lauder Re-Nutirv range. I bought it last friday and posted about it on here. I got the cream along with 15ml eye cream, serum and moisturiser in a box set for around $450 I think. The Softening lotion was an additional $95! Hi Ladies,
It's been a while since I last posted anything, sorry for being so unsocial:(
I've also been on the vogue forum a bit and recently us voguettes received a sample of Skinsilk-A, a concentrated retinol product. I've tried a few different brands to treat my acne scarring and blemishes and I haven't been happy with the results so I was a bit weary about what to expect with this product. A friend of mine had tried it earlier and was very pleased with the results so when the opportunity to receive samples presented itself, I gave it a go. I have to say that I'm thrilled with the results!! My complexion has improved and my scars are less red. I understand that I have to use this for a couple months to get the results I want but so far I'm sold on this product. I have also posted a product review for those interested. However I don't think this product is suitable for sensitive skin.
If you love Vit A check out the Skinceuticals and Ultraceuticals brands on Adore. They're just AWESOME!! :hugs::whipcrack:

Hi Serena! I got mine from a chemist but I have also seen them at Myer. It is a black pack called De-maq expert and they have a plastic closure that keeps them moist. They contain 40 wipes instead of the usual 25 so are great value at around the $10 mark. Seriously, I have never used a more effective wipe and even though I cant use Loreal's eye makeup remover these do not irritate my eyes and are as good as a regular cleanser for removing makeup. The pack says they are more concentrated in cleansing ingredients.

now , i have been using [exclusively] Arbonne products for the past few days [yes it has NEARLY killed me]
it came out here from the US [where it is big] mid year , the products seem to make my skin smooth [very much so] , they r vegan safe products , that r botanically based
but it seems to have a silicone like effect on the skin , similar to a max factor product out ages ago
in the ingredients lists , glycerin factors in big - & many forms of it [or just names]
does anyone have any feedback from using this type of product or any info about silicone or large amounts of glycerine in skin care  :waving:

Dont know anything about silicones in skin care fussy. Glycerin is usually added for its humectant properties ie its ability to attract water to the skin. Possibly not for oilier skins or those prone to breakout as it may block the pores??

I'm not sure if it's a "new" brand, but I spotted a range of acne-fighting products at a chemist the other day called Lalisse. They seemed to be all based on natural ingredients and had these two acne serums, 1 & 2. 1 could be used 3 times a day and 2 seemed to be more potent and could be used 3 times a day for 3 or 4 days and then a break. They were really well priced and looked really interesting. They also had a peel off mask containing natural ingredients as well as tricolosan for about $24.95. Could be left on for 20 minutes, which is also a plus, I like to really relax with a mask and sometimes with clay ones the ten minutes just flies by!

Lalisee has been around for a few years now, and I remember using the cleanser, one of the serums and peel off mask. From what I remember (this was a few years back) the products did work, but having bad acne, the problem wasnt going to be solved by using just products externally. I think I stopped using them not because they didnt work, but they werent available from chemists a few years back, and it was just hard trying to get them ordered as i was at school. I also remember the products had a distinctive smell of chinese herbs if you know what I mean, but the ingredients were great! :typing:
