Girls, Dermalogica are offering free samples - go to www.dermalogica.com.au and click on the big picture thing (it is obvious, it says to map your face and get free samples). You then enter your skin type on the bits of the face and they will post out samples to you! And a $20 voucher off your next Dermalogica purchase. Too easy!!

I read about that in a magazine the other day. Dermalogica products are fantastic. I already get regular samples from them but it is a great way to get people trying the range. Enjoy your samples girls!

Thanks so much CF. Love samples!
I don't like asking for samples at beauty counters and such, due to bad experience in the past. I have asked (very nicely mind you) for a sample a couple of times in the past and I always got told they did not have any and I was made to feel like a beggar!
Last week I was pleasantly surprised when the girl at the Laura Mercier counter in D.J. gave me a sample pot of foundation. I thought that was so nice considering I did not ask for it nor did I buy anything, I was just checking out colours.

Hi Lily,
It annoys me so much when sales assistants make you feel like dirt for asking for samples. I find I usually get a lot of samples from Melbourne stores but I also think that I only get them because I spend quite large amounts of money in the stores.
I have a few friends who manage cosmetics counters and they look after me very well. However in Hobart I am sure a lot of the staff keep the samples for themselves or to give to their familes and friends because they never seem to hand any over! I think the best sample givers are definitely Kit Cosmetics and as a result I choose to shop with them more often!

Thanks pcc. I will keep that in mind. I am going to Kit this week to get the cowshed shampoo/conditioner, so maybe I score a sample also.

The difference is that Melbourne stores get HEAPS more samples than regional stores. I once got yelled at when I worked in Myer Geelong by a crazy woman for not giving a specific sample when she asked, and she accused the staff of keeping them all and giving them away. I couldn't believe my ears.
We received the tiniest amounts of samples (this was on the fragrance wall, not cosmetics by the way but they also receive much less samples than other stores) and only when the product is launched - so say Be Delicious was just launched, I'd get 100-200 samples and that was IT for the life of the fragrance! As you can imagine, these went very quickly with all the promo material in mags with launches. Some companies get greater numbers of samples (eg Loreal who have Armani and Ralph Lauren).
We occassionally took a sample or two home but this was tricky because we could get sacked if caught! So the risk wasn't usually worth it.
Just keep this in mind when you don't get samples. Another tip is to ask for a specific sample - like the new Kylie fragrance or whatever - if we were just asked for samples it got our backs up. Samples are used as a selling tool, so if someone is interested in a fragrance but not ready to buy it etc, we'd give them the sample (if we had it!) so they could try it at home and hopefully come back. So when asked for any old sample we were not happy and would not give them out.

I'm excited too - I've been keen on trying Dermalogica for years but have never actually got around to buying it. So this is a great way to try products which should be ideal for our skin types and if the results are good it is a great way for them to boost their sales and get new customers!! See.... samples do really work!!

I agree with you Celestefaye . I like samples because I am sick of buying products only to find out later at home that they don't suit my skin. E.g I tried the Laura Mercier Silky Soft Foundation at the DJ.s counter and it was lovely, it felt silky soft, really nice. I got a sample pot from the nice sales assistant and I put it on the next day and it was no good for my skin (unfortunately), it was drying and settled in lines even with a primer. I was glad I had the chance to sample it, saved me spending money on a product I cannot use.
If I have a sample and like it I will always go and buy the product.

I did the sample thing quite a few weeks ago when it first came out and still haven't been sent them. Was wondering whether anybody else had gotten theirs in the mail yet, hoping they didn't run out of anything that my results showed or something!!

Ok, I take that back, I got my free samples yesterday. I used them last night and they felt absolutely wonderful, I don't know how I've never used Dermalogica before!! I loved the cleanser, and the active moist felt so lovely and silky and hydrating. I'll definitely consider buying these in the future.

Samples are very covetable, both for the customer and the store. Staff do get into heaps of trouble if they take them but I certainly looked after customers and friends who came to the counter! I do agree with both sides though, as a sales person, they are your tool but I could and I am sure other staff get their backs up just by hearing "got any samples?"!!
Best to be upfront, tell them you are interested in a specific product and tell them you would like to try it before you buy it. One lovely Laura Mercier SA at Highpoint put some of the tinted moist in a little jar for me to try, I couldnt thank her enough! (Didnt like the product though so thank goodness I got to try!)

I must say that I never ask for samples from anywhere but because I am an extremely good customer I get given a lot. A lot of places in other states send me samples in the mail.
I would never ask a sales assistant for samples but I do take time at the counters to try out the testers. I am fortunate that I get a lot of fragrance samples because I know a perfume buyer.

:waving: Hi Della, I received my samples yesterday as well. I got:
clay based cleanser
exfoliator
oil control lotion.
I tried out the cleanser and exfoliator last night, I really loved the cleanser it left my skin feeling really clean but not tight or dry, I might have to investigate buying this one - will have to see how much it is though!
I've not tried the lotion yet, maybe tomorrow - The only dissapointment I've had is that the samples are very small - there was only enough cleanser in the packet for one use, I was hoping they might be a little bigger so you could get at least a couple of days experimenting with them, but never mind.
All in all, even though I've only tried them once I will certainly search out suppliers here in Adelaide.
Hope you enjoy your as much as I did!

AT least Dermalogica isn't too hard to find in Adelaide.
I think I'll have to become a detective to hunt it out here in Canberra, but all you ladies rave about it so I'll probably end up buying some just through sheer curiosity:shakehead:

Quite right Della - I've just sourced somewhere I can get them from not far from where I work in the city :clapping:
I ordered some of the Dr Hauschka cream cleanser yesterday from Adore - couldn't resist due to all raves about on this forum! - so I will try this one first before I move onto Dermalogica

I'm weighing up about the cream cleanser too.
Living in Canberra the winter's are pretty harsh so I'm starting to think about my winter beauty regime and this sounds like an excellent product for my winter dryness:explode:

I expect I'll receive the order early next week - so I'll let you know how it goes ;)
I recieved my Dermalogica samples yesterday... I alreay use many of their already, but I coudn't pass up samples.
I recieved
Active Moist
Scrub
Gel Cleanser
I gave myself a mini facial last night to try them out. I am super impressed with the cleanser and the scrub and will probably buy them. The moisturiser is lovely but I prefer something a bit more thick and rich. I use their skin smoothing cream at night and their new moisturiser with sunscreen during the day and will stick with those...
I have to say I am the hugest Dermalogica fan! I started using it a fewyears ago, and have played around with other products since but I have decided now to just stick with Dermalocia because if just works for my skin (sensitive and dry)

Hey Della - as a fellow Canberra product detective, hope this helps...There are a few places that stock Dermalogica, depending on what's closest to you; here are some in the civic area:
TG's Hair & Body, Canberra Centre
Urban Body, Suite 7, Ground Flr, 12 Moore St (I've bought from here, and had a skin analysis; all their facials etc are with Derm products)
Canberra Beauty & Body Lab, 34 Mort St, Braddon
There are a few Oz websites you can order from too - google it baby! Google knows everything :D Good luck!

I got my samples the other day and so far my first Dermologica experience ever has been successful. I have only used the Anti Bac wash, its very lovely. I don't think i was diagnosed properly but nice products anyway.

I got my samples last week and tried them all out yesterday afternoon in a bit of a girly pampering! I got the Essential Cleansing Solution, Gentle Cream Exfoliant (which works a bit like a mask, leave it on for 10 minutes) and Skin Smoothing Cream.
Wow!! My skin feels fantastic!! And looks heaps clearer already (I was having a bit of a breakout). I think my favourite was the exfoliant, that really made the difference and I'll definitely be getting myself some more of that!!!

Girls Dermalogica products are amazing. I have been using them for years and it is my one staple skincare range. Make sure if you are wanting to purchase full sized Dermalogica products that you purchase them from an authorised Dermalogica stockist.
There are a lot of fake Dermalogica products being sold over the internet. I have been duped into buying fakes once and they looked exactly the same as the real products but the reaction my skin had certainly proved otherwise.
Dermalogica products will soon have a hologram on their packaging that can not be duplicated. The company is doing this to fight back at the fraudsters!

haven't had much success with dermalogica, the smell is so strange, the moisturisers have either been especially thick or so light that I haven't felt hydrated. the daily microfoliant felt lovely afterwards but my hand suffered the most, they are super dry afterwards... the samples I'm yet to use are the multi vitamin masque?, anyone had success with this?
I have enjoyed using my ultracalming cleanser but Im going thru it rather quickly and this I bought about a month or so ago and Im almost 1/2 way in a 250ml.... quite pricey, I bought this on my credit card and going by my new budget I can't afford that every couple of months!....
the dermalogica concept store was aunique experience, I'd highly recommend it, you don't have to buy their products but the advice they suggest is very helpful and you can apply it to any other skincare brand.

Alice I'm hot-and-cold about Dermalogica. The essential oils can be quite irritating to me and I am not really a fan of any of the cleansers (didn't stop me from buying a Special Cleansing Gel because it was on sale at my beauty therapist...WHHHYYYY? :shakehead: ) and their eye care products are absolutely horrible on me. Having said that, I love ALL their masques - I bought the Skin Refining Masque and have used samples of all the others and I would buy them all if I could so I had a masque for every skin mood. I may even buy the Multi Vitamin Masque. I also love Skin Smoothing Cream, I always keep it on hand for when my skin needs a bit of extra moisture and care. And their Skin Prep Scrub is another product I always keep in the bathroom, it's just a good all-rounder and has a high aloe content which is nice.
It's such a huge extensive range (and is easily available which is important), it's worth trying all the samples you can get your hands on to find something that's great for you!
I agree with you Oz, on the mask front. I love their skin hydrating mask. It's dreeeeeamy! :reindeer: (OMG, look at this little guy!)

I want it for winter!! The masque I mean, not the reindeer. It doesn't snow here and so a reindeer would be of little or no use to me in the transportation front, plus it would probably be more expensive to feed than a car would be to fill with petrol. Anyhoo I digress. Masks are great. Oooooh that reindeer is so cute!
