Name every product and I mean every product that you have in your shower at the moment!
This one will have to wait until I come back! I just went and counted 46 items!! Serious cull needed I think!
I do have a big spa with a shower over it so lots of space. I am trying to picture you thinking I have a shower cubicle with 46 products in it??!!

Icat,
My brother is a horticulturalist, I will ask him what he has been advising his clients to do re the water restrictions. I know he has been helping a lot of people keep their gardens living and I am sure there are certain things you can use to help preserve moisture in and around the garden. I will see him tomorrow and ask him what he suggests.

What do you use the coconut & lavender oil for?
Kate (Staff)
10-01-2007, 10:17 AM
iCat, I got this little jar of water crystals from the local nursery - you mix them in with your soil (or poke them down holes in existing pots) and they swell up heaps when you add water, then they slowly release water to the plant over a few days. I've got them in my pots of tomatoes and they seem to be working well even though we can only water twice a week now.
I have sunsilk Shampoo and Conditioner for Volume
Sanctum Sugar and Almond Scrub
Philosophy Hot Cocoa Body Wash (smells so good, i tried to eat it)
Someone's Earring (??????????)
Venus Razor
Exfoliating glove
BeautyAddict

Still havent got the half hour it will take me to list all the stuff in my shower! Did want to make mention of the water saving crystals though as they do help when we can only water twice a week. I feel quite virtuous having got hubby to divert the washing machine water to our vegie garden. The phosphates seem to be ok and they are thriving. Using some of it to wash the car (only lightly soiled stuff) as I have a paint finish that doesnt allow me to go through a car wash! Did I say hubby washes the car - of course he does!

Hey Kitten Princess,
What do you use the coconut & lavender oil for?
I put a few drops of lavender oil on the tiles before I have my shower (this is ssssssssssssso relaxing) and I use the coconut oil for all sorts of things. I put it in my hair before shampooing, I use it after being out in the sun, and I mix it with bronzer to use as a highlighter on my legs or decolletage before I go out. Smells amazing.

Ok, quiet Sunday morning, tea in hand I have ventured into the bathroom to properly note everything that is sitting around the shower. Be warned, many products to follow but shower does reside over a huge spa with lots of baskets and edges for filling up with product! Could be like the big handbag syndrome - more room = more stuff?!!!
In no particular order of use or preference (cant remember when some were used! and remembering that three people use the shower are:
Cake It's a slice bath and shower foam
MOR Pear shampoo
MOR Glisten Drops
Alchemy Macadamia and Wheat Cond
Pears Milk and Olive shower milk
Alonzo Luminescence shampoo
Loreal Refinish exfoliator
Dr Lewinns Facial Polishing gel (love it)
VO5 Hot oil treatment in the tube
Nivea Men's Facial Wash
Natio Hair treatment cond
Lush, The Olive Branch shower gel (bought it for me but has a distinct man smell!)
Natio body wash with cinnamon and tangerine (love this)
Head and Shoulders
Nizoral shampoo
Marc Daniels In detox
Sasa Marine Spa bath and shower gel
Neo Strata AHA facial cleanser
Ponds Seaweed Cleanser
Clarins Tonic body oil
Ponds Deep pore scrub
Dr Hauschka cleansing cream
Radox (men's) shower get
Natio Mens facial scrub
DeLorenzo Essential treatment spray
Clarins body exfolient
Gillette satin care shave foam
Hamiltons Mineral Bath salts
Loreal Exfotonic (still a favourite)
My own hand made salt scrubs (dont put your hand up for the craft store at the fete!)
Kusco Murphy Heavenly Moist Rinse
Paul Mitchell Colour Protect shampoo
Paul Mitchell Colour Protect conditioner - what remains after beach house use!:shakehead:
Ego Facial Cleanser
Andrew Collinge Moisturising conditioner
3 razors
shower puff
pumice and heros sponge
body brush
comb and claw grip
hand made soap from Kit (hubby likes good soaps!)
Muslin cloth for Eve Lom cleanser
and a massive jar of Borghese Fango body and face mud!
Ok, bit of a reality check, but surprisingly the stuff is used by the three members of this household. Maybe I have to get a bit firm and cull some of it. Too many choice = too much mess!

Luisa, I noticed you mentioned the Loreal refinsh kit. What did u think of this?? I bought it and was told off by so many people for using it!!!!!
I think it is fine. Just relies on super small aluminium crystals to polish the skin. Make sure your skin is wet and apply a dob on forehead, each cheek, chin and two on neck. Use your fingerpads to gently massage (I use a lift and roll method) for no more than two minutes. Rinse away well. Dont believe you need to follow with their own moisturiser (although there is nothing wrong with it), just glorious marketing getting you to buy the two products. Use no more than twice a week, and treat your skin kindly afterwards.:waving:

Hey Krissk, what do you think of your Tresemme' shampoo and conditioner?
Hi princess precious,
I always thought it was acrap product as read many not so good things about it, until I tried it, got a sample of it in a magazine, and now I like it. I have the coloured hair one and find it helps hold the colour in my hair longer. It is better than I thought. Leaves my hair smelling nice and the conditioner if left on for longer makes it feel really soft and more like a treatment.

Fusspot,
I love love love the Make Mine A Tropical Smoothie body scrub by Anatomicals. It comes in a really convnient tube which I find much better than a pot as it saves sinking your hands in to the tub. It smells gorgeous and is dark green in colour. It has a lot of granules in it so it gives a really thorough scrub. Definitely value for money. I have repurchasd it several times and make sure I have a tube in my shower at all times.

How do you find the Dermaveen Oatmeal wash Sapphire?
I love this, TBA. It is the cleanser I go to if my skin becomes confused or reactive. It is soothing but also removes makeup properly (although I always either double-clease or just leave a layer on my face for a few minutes while I wash the rest of my body). It really makes my skin feel silky smooth though. I switched to this after an initial post-acne stint with cetaphil. Cetaphil was lovely but not enough for my oily skin, but Dermaveen is much better. I also use Ultraceuticals cleasing gel for a more 'active' cleanse but I always have a bottle of the Dermaveen in my bathroom.

OMG I fear what will happen when the day comes when I will have to share my bedroom and bathroom with a smelly boy! I'm fully serious when I say I barely have enough room for all my stuff, let alone someone else's! And I sure as hell don't like sharing my products with anyone, so I guess he'll have to...umm.......let me think for a minute......ok he'll have to shower outside, under the hose, and use one of those 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash products which he can keep in the shed. Or he could bathe in the laundry sink, maybe I could spare a bit of room in there (although I do like my cleaning products)!

Hey Sapphire, what do you use the essential oils for?
charismatic
15-06-2007, 01:23 PM
I have an aversion to clutter and everything needs to co-ordinate..............I AM a pain! :shockedhair:
Therefore my shower only contains a cake of pure soap &/or body wash, fresh wash cloth, my darling's 3 shampoos. I always collect my products from cabinet prior showering then dry and return them once I have showered.
As the bath oils are boxed in wood they live on the side of spa.

Hey Sapphire, what do you use the essential oils for?
I put about 6-10 drops in the bath. Makes the water and room smell divine, plus my skin feels less deydrated after the bath. I have a love & romance blend from The Oil Garden at the moment.

Hey Sapphire, what do you use the essential oils for?
As well as using them in the bath, you could use them as an "aromatic shower". This usually involves wake up oils like the citrus ones (my fave is Oil Garden's Refresh and Renew blend). You tip about 3 or 4 drops at your feet and as the hot water hits the droplets they release their potent benefits.

It will and it may also make your shower floor slippery but just enjoy the moments when the molecules burst and release its benefits.

Luisa I got this glove at last years Beauty Expo in Sydney i think it cost me $10 or $20. The only thing i dont like is that you have to soak ur skin first or wait till ur really pruney. He he! Ok I love the smell.. it says on the bottle essence of Rosewood.. but just try Woolies or Coles and have a sniff - it's in a dark dirty pink kinda colour bottle...

It's just like a normal body wash... creamy type consistency, and you don't need much to get good bubbles. It's not that moisturising, but i was using heavy duty stuff for winter but it's still good i think

Sapphy the Dove body washes are usually pretty moisturising. They do contain SLS but are also choc-full of good ingredients. They're only around six bucks too so if it doesn't work for you, easy to give it away to someone else!

Thanks nattieb (and ozzy). I may try it, although I usually shy away from supermarket brand washes because they are not that gentle on my skin. I am tempted though, and Dove are one of the better ones. Plus, I so love their 'real beauty' thing. It is so heartening and refreshing to see!
Ok, I have just talked myself into it!

At least it is a more accessible one CA, can you tell me a bit more about it?It's about $70 and it's thick like honey. You rub it over your face, and then as you're rubbing it starts to liquify. It is really easy to remove then, and my skin feels clean, polished and my pores seem to be less noticeable. Skin feels really soft.

I had a ginger Tromborg showergel in the shower (dur) which I thought was lovely, refreshing - and nice for me and the boy! Anyway, I finished it off and put in an Origins Grapefruit one. I was in the shower with the boy (ooohhh!!) and I passed it to him and he said 'thank god, I hated that last one!' HAHAHA I was so amused. Reading it back doesn't seem so funny - maybe you had to be there - but at least now I know to avoid ginger!!!

Yeah I agree Trash! I have never enjoyed showering with a boy - whenever I'm in the shower I'm pretty much always shaving, exfoliating, washing my hair, or doing some other activity that is not sexy and requires privacy!! Also after getting out of the shower is the big rush to apply assorted moisturisers and lotions and leave-in hair treatments while everything is still a bit damp!

I would not want to shower with a boy every day but it is nice sometimes!! You don't have to exfoliate/shave/wash hair EVERY time you have a shower! (And please note I usually try to get all these tasks done BEFORE I see him so I appear effortlessly perfet hahaha). In fact he probably thinks I am very low maintenance!!!

It's ok Luisa, makes the hair a bit shinier and richer looking but not a lot. Make sure you have a wide toothed comb in the shower because it works most effectively when all excess water is squeezed out which can make it difficult to distribute the product evenly through the hair. Make sure you wash your hands with soap straight away after using this (or wear gloves) because it will stain your skin a bit.
It's ok to use this one from root to tip, it won't make it lank like a conditioner would.

It's ok, quite unisex - it's not a sweet juicy scent but rather closer to the scent of lime zest or leaves. It's nice, very cleansing and refreshing, but I'd steer away from it if your skin is a little bit dry - it's very foaming.

I think it would be better then the over showerhead one as it wouldn't tip sideways when you take something out of it.

Ok here is my latest shower contents. Also - I have a glass shower - but I still got one of those mesh things like Oz and I just hand it on the hook thing over the top of the glass. It looks a bit funny but does the job of holding stuff.
Here we go...
- Alchemy Intensive Moisture Shampoo
- L'Occitane Verbena Every Day Shampoo
- L'Occitane Verbena Shower Gel
- L'Occitane Almond Body Scrub
- L'Occitane Almond Apple Sweet Peel
- Revlon Colourball Conditioner
- Terax Crema tube
- Aesop Fabulous Face Wash
- Aesop Purifying Exfoliating Paste
- Cake Sugar Scrub (I have to take this out, I can't use it because it makes me all red and rashy)
- KMS Clarifying Shampoo
- KMS Clarifying Treatment Conditioner
- Kevin Murphy Born Again mini
- Foot file thingy
- Couple of razors
- Facewasher

That is very odd Jaime, shame on you :shakehead:
Do a TBS or Kit order, i suggest TBS because there shower gels are creamier and because i secrectly want some but don't actually need any :chuckle:

I'm actually really like my Nivea foaming shower oil, smells great and is very moisturising.

I'd highly recommend the TBS Shea Shower Cream Jaime, it's $14 I think and lasts for ages. It's beautiful. Also Dove Pro-Age is kickass too. I don't like spending too much on shower products either, unless they are special kinda ones. I'd rather have heaps of lower-end ones than only a few expensive ones I think..... what can I say, I'm devoid of class and taste.

I totally agree i'd rather spend less on shower and bath products because i feel wasteful using expensive ones day to day because they just go down the drain. I like to just have one special one to use on special occassions or if i need an extra bit of luxury.

For me personally, it reminds me like that feeling and sense you get from lovely fabric softener.
