Ok, I need everybody's help. Recently my skin has been playing up a lot, I have blemishes everywhere, even on my cheeks but am otherwise very fine pored in the places that don't have pimples. I was wondering what everyone thinks I should use. I especially need a night cream or night treatment to help the acne heal overnight, but have more combo skin than oily. Any suggestions?

Hi Melita,
Firstly I am sorry to hear your skin is a little upset! It's awful when your skin goes feral and you don't know why!

I would suggest asking Luisa Brown about this matter (perhaps send her a private message) as she is great at these sort of things. She will help you get it sorted and she has the background and expertise to advise you correctly. She really helped me when I o'd on the aha's and im sure she will be able to help you.

Have you been under a lot of stress or ill lately? Are you drinking enough water? Do the pimples have heads or are they red angry bumps?

Until you are able to contact Luisa I would advise you to keep your skincare regime very simple. You don't want to do anything to further agrivate the problem. Just cleanse and apply something calming to your skin.

Do let me know if the situation is worsening as I can contact Luisa via phone. Keep your chin up Melita we have all been where you are at the moment and it sucks big time. We will get you sorted. Big Hugs PCC :hugs: xo

Hey pcc, thank for the advice, I just contacted Luisa by PM so I'll see what she says. Yes, they are the sore red ones with a blackhead but no white head or anything, they are dry and sometimes itchy. I've been trying to use products with Lavender in them, like Jurlique Cleanser, Day Care Conditioner and Day Lotion and was considering buying the Night Gel but I just don't know enough about the brand or anyone else who has had results with Jurlique to invest in it. I had a facial for it today, but it was a terrible facial, no extractions, no exfoliant, the massage was at the beginning (I prefer it at the end) and she didn't give me a recommendation list at the end of what products she would suggest (they used pevonia). This was just after my quite full Liquid Gold spilt all through my luggage before I got on the train (it's not been a good day all round in beauty terms :(), Thanks for the advice though, I'll keep you posted to see what works, keeping routine very simple now :)

Hey Melita,

Gosh, what a day! Check your PM but in the meantime keeping it really simple is best. Despite being typically mild, the "natural" ingredients in the Jurlique might not be aggreeing with your skin predicament. Also my poor dear, having a facial at this peak breakout time was probably not such a good idea (the therapist sounds the same!). Pevonia are a great range of products and also rely on mud and actives like your Ahava. The massage in my opinion should have actually been left out entirely!

Please also put your liquid gold aside as you are describing an almost accute dryness/acne issue and this will only further dry out your skin at the moment. Promise you will be able to re-introudce this down the track.

Awaiting your info!

Beauty School is my website devoted to beauty, it's not a serious company site or anything, but one day I was sitting down and my boyfriend who makes a lot of websites goes, stop giving me hints about beauty, I'll just make you your own site and you can write them there!! (I'm always hinting that face scrubs will give a closer shave, etc. etc.) So I did, to fill in time, it's just anything from home hints, to my picks of the best and tips and experiences, all thrown into different categories. I should be posting more on it soon, it's been under maintenance for a little while, so that's what it is, thanks for asking!

just picked up on your Jurlique bit - for what it's worth, I have been using it for many years now and my skin is the best it has ever been. I will not use anything else. If I get given a facial as a gift which uses other brands, i always come out in spots and my pores get enlarged, or if I go without it for a few days I see the spots coming out. Jurlique is so mild sensitive skin. Love it! :hugs:

I have had mixed results with Jurrlique products. I love their Pure Rose Water, arnica cream and especially their hand creams. Found some products made me break out! I guess it's just an individual thing.

I have also loved the hand creams and the rosewater spray. Jurlique has the most amazing philosophy and standards but we have to remember that natural products are still active and may not agree with all skins. Nature has some pretty potent concoctions!

Hi Melita,

It sounds like your pimples are aggravated more than anything. Usually whiteheads indicate blocked pores and thus I would recommended a product containing AHA/BHA exfoliants however in your case I woud recommend that you use either a benzyl peroxide product from the pharmacy (Benzac AC) or Ten o Six blemish cream. Both are obtainable at the pharmacy over the counter and they will reduce the redness and soreness, I would start off using the Benzac AC every second night until you get acclimatised to it. I would also urge you to use a gentle cleanser like cetaphil whilst your using this product. If you stick to using it you should see great results in 2 weeks.

Cheers,

Hi, sorry for the delay in reply; was holidaying at the beach for a week sans internet - don't worry, used lots of sunscreen (sadly as a beauty product lover, this was my first thought lol). My skin is slowly clearing up, I have been using a Jurlique Calendula cream at night to soothe it as this is supposed to be very gentle and it seems to be working well. The sea salt also played a part I believe in healing some of the blemishes and I stopped using Liquid Gold for the moment and my face feels much less dry. I haven't been exfoliating, just using a washer to take off cleanser thoroughly which has helped a bit. Haven't been to the doctor yet as I'm not at home at my regular GP, but still might go if it either stays the same or gets worse. Thanks so much everybody for the advice, you're all lifesavers!!
