Some beauty brands are their founders. There's no getting away from it - Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubenstein are two of the original examples, as is demonstrated in the ABC1 documentary The Powder and the Glory tonight. They put their hearts, souls and personas into their cosmetic empires early last century - and, of course, their names - and it led to untold riches and global success. Even today Arden is associated with Upper East Side chic. But can this strategy work against beauty companies as well?

I'm somewhat influenced by the person behind the brand, but I also buy because I like what the product does.

True, sometimes it turns me off. No name needed? :chuckle:

Cosmetics...a little bit put off if i dont like the person behind the company...perfumes, put off big time by celebrity endosments.
