So i bought some velcro rollers yesterday and want to use them today but have a few questions.

Is it best to put them in when my hair is wet or dry?
If dry, do i need to straighten my hair first?

OMG - I was a velcro roller freak for years - I used to do them before school, sleep in them, I loved them.

Key is playing around. You can dry off your hair a bit then roll them. Then every 15 minutes go over them with a hair dryer that's moderately hot, then let it cool, and repeart this until dry and then spray and take them out. Helps them set.

Or you can do it in dry hair and hair spray it, depending on your hair you will learn what is better.

I put them in when my hair is like 85% dry. If your hair is curly first, I suppose you'd straighten?! Otherwise, just stretching the hair over the roller should straighten it out......or you could just fully dry it, then straighten, and then use the rollers for volume/body - just blast em with the dryer and leave to cool.

i think i will try it with my hair wet and use the hair dryer every 15 min as you suggested. was watching some how to videos...this one made me laugh...check out the drying contraption (fast forward to 5.05 mins) ... http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-use-rollers

Yeah I never did it totally damp as my hair is naturally stupidly curly and need some straightening at least at the root to ensure it sit and set right.

So i'll prob dry the roots of my hair a litle - dont want to dry to much natuarally cause it goes stupid - and then put the rollers in with lots of hair spray

Yeah, if you get them right and if they're completely dry and cool when you take them out, your hair looks lovely and swishy and silky - but if you take them out when your hair is even the slightest bit damp, it flops and looks crap. :( :chuckle:

Very true!

May take a couple of go's for you to get it right. When you do, no going back.

My senior years of school have fond memories of wearing my rollers.....ahhhh memories...

ok another question...do you curl the roller horizontally or vertically?

Depends what kind of curl you want tt. Go horizontal if you want volume and a curl on the end. Go vertical if you want more defined/big ringlet-style curls.

The top of my head vertically and rolling away from my face.

The sides were a bit more horizontal.

Be war of how you pin - wrong place it can leave a dent :chuckle:

Does anyone elses hair get tangled in velcro rollers? I have very fine hair so thought that maybe that was the problem, or could just be that i am that unco?

I have 3 brothers, 1 of whom is 8 years younger than me. I have many photos of him wearing dresses, with makeup and painted nails. I am extremely surprised that he is a relatively normal 36 year old now :chuckle:.

What's worse - I now have 3 children: 2 boys and a girl. My daughter cannot understand why I would not (even now) go and have another child - a girl. Just for her to play with. :spin:

I am so going to buy some velcro rollers now! Another question though, how many do reckon you need for your entire head? Do you use different sizes? Like biggers ones for the bottom and smaller ones up the top? Is there any particular ones that work better?

How long is your hair Catherine? If you have long hair, you will need a few. It's also important you don't have too much hair over each roller (the curl won't hold as well).

I use big rollers for volume and a slight curl, and small ones for a more obvious curl.

I buy them super-cheap at Priceline, Price Attack or the good ol' supermarket!
