Hi Allison!
I'm re-posting this question here as hopefully you will be able to help.
I'm new to Alpha H and have just started using Liquid Harmony in the morning and Liquid Gold every other evening. I've read a lot here on the Alpha H products so I have a fair idea of the AHA/Glycolic Acid information and I see a lot of you still use exfoliants, chemical and manual. I'm sorry if this is daft but isn't the AHA doing that? I'm not sure where to fit it in. Is the liquid gold/harmony route just a short term fix or a long term addition to my routine?
My curent routine is as follows:
am
am
Decleor Cleansing water - no rinse or wipe-off love it!
Alpha-H Liquid Harmony - new to this
Lancome eye serum
Decleor Neroli oil
Decleor Experience de l'Age mosituriser
pm
Decleor Cleansing water or Elemis cream cleanser
Alpha-H Liquid Gold - new to this so every other night at the moment
I have an Elemis papaya enzyme peel - is that ok to use weekly or is the Liquid Gold taking care of the dead skin cells?
thanks in advance Allison

Hi fab,
It looks like you're not using a moisturiser in the evening. Liquid gold can be used alone, but on the alternate nights you will need a moisturiser.
Usually I recommend either liquid gold OR liquid harmony. Both are glycolic but the liquid harmony is more geared toward pigmentation prevention and treatment.
A granulated exfoliant will disloge any dead skin cells. A chemical exfoliant is great and does lift the cells, I just find the granulated forms are good to really work the dead cells off the skin and keep it feeling nice and fresh. They are often over used. three times a week is fine (two for more sensitised or acneic skin types).
I am happy to recommend an evening moisturiser if you want to tell me some more about your skin and what you want to work on.

microcleanse is a fantastic granulated exfoliant with glycolic in it too!

Allison I am going to be naughty and bump this thread - what are the differences between the Alpha H microcleanse and Ultraceuticals UltraClear Exfoliating Gel? Which would be more gentle but also more effective for blackheads? Thanks :)

Hi Kelly :waving: I did a quick look at both again after posting this and noticed the UC is a foaming one whereas the Alpha H is non-foaming (I prefer non-foamers as my skin gets tight and irritated even with natural foaming agents). That’s as far as I got in answering my own question, I’m afraid!

They both contain granules (= physical exfoliation) plus acids (= chemical exfoliation). Microcleanse has a paste/cream type texture with very fine granules, 12% glycolic, and a minty/menthol tingle. UltraClear Exfoliating Gel has a runnier gel texture, with larger granules than Micro Cleanse (but not so many of them) plus a combination of lactic (AHA) + salicylic (BHA) acids, and a faint eucalyptus-y smell.
Both of them get five-star reviews on the shopping site so either is a good choice ;)

Thanks Kate! Now, which one to choose...
