I don't want to "think why the hell did I buy this" I have a budget up to $100 preferably much less, don't mind if it comes in a small size (as it takes me forever to get through perfume) - I've smelt so many different fragrances and I've become really  your assistance & suggestions will be welcomed.
Here's a list of past perfumes I've used - none of which I want to get again (for different reasons)
Hugo Boss Deep Red
Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche
Clinique Simply
Clinique Aromatics (over used and now I don't like it)
Estee Lauder Pleasures - Exotic
Elisabeth Arden - Sunflowers :shakehead:
Stella McCartney
ANAIS ANAIS CACHAREL PERFUME
Clinique Happy
CK One
Nina Ricci
TBS cassis rose
TBS Japanese Musk & other musk
there are probably others but these I can recall using - from the time I first bought perfume at age 16...
as I've got older I prefer subtle scents some of the above have been super intense and only made me sick!
My favourite scent at the moment is :hearts: TBS sandalwood perfume oil. I also like the freshness and uncomplicated scent of Estee Lauder emerald dream (but this is only a travel exclusive) That might give you an idea (I've turned off from/ don't really like fruity, floral or rich spicy smells). I've posted this thread because I know you lovely ladies who have a passion for fragrance & are well educated in the best perfumes etc ...

Today I am wearing Lolita Lempicka, the one that comes in the blue apple shaped bottle. It is lovely and soft, faintly musky, but not in that baby powder-y way that some people dislike. I think you can get it for around $60 at Chemist Warehouse.
I also am really liking Joop, which is a little stronger, but very inexpensive and easy to find. My husband loves it.

Alice I would suggest something like Carolina Herrara 212, which a lovely soft modern scent. It is also very fresh and incomplicated but still quite chic. These are the notes:
Top Notes Gardenia Petals, Queen of the Night Cactus Flower, Bergamot.
Middle Notes Ghost White Rosette, Dawn Camelia, Black Magic White Lily, Lace Flower.
Base Notes Ceylon Satinwood, Mysore Sandalwood, Halo Musk Lifescent.
I would also suggest something from the MIchael Kors Island range. Capri in particular.
Happy hunting.

yeah, Joop can be a little strong. They need a Joop Lite or something.
212 is nice, that's a good suggestion. I hadn't thought of that. I wear that sometimes. It is excellent for work, light and like you just got out of the shower. On me, anyway. My very dry skin eats perfume, so I like those strong ones.

Alice - i think you'd really love Diptyque's Tam Dao. Its a sandalwood perfume and the sandalwood is from Goa. Really light and beautiful - not strong at all. It is very pricey but my bottle lasts ages as you only need a small amount. I don't really buy perfume as i find most quite overpowering but this one is devine. If thats out of your price range then why not make your own - with a high quality eseential oil and carrier oil of your choice? Totally natural and cheap. I use Lush's body deoderant - its like a soap bar and its patchouli scented and the smell stays on ALL day. I love it - but then i really like patchouli too. Lush might have a sandalwood one?

Thanks Kelly - I'm really struggling with my perfume these days. I on't know whats happened but my sense of smell and taste in relation to the scent has changed. At christmas I was given a bottle of perfume and I've hardly touched it!, its just too heavy ... makes me all heady! ..
I wil check out Diptyque's Tam Dao -
Like you using a cheaper alternative I have been enjoying just using my body lotion/butters or maybe going with an essential oil? great tip I think Jurlique have these...
