I spotted this weird new make-up sponge at this link (http://www.beautyeditor.com.au/2008/04/28/celeb-must-have-the-beauty-blender/#more-2170) and then saw it at my beautician today. Has anyone tried it? It looks really interesting! It is hot pink in real life!

It has been out in the US for a while. Supposed to blend really well and not absorb foundation. Looks cute!

we all had a bit of a chat about it from memory

Is that the one that's shaped like a three-dimensional teardrop, or a pointy egg?

Luisa Brown

Isnt that the same thing?

Yes it is Kate! It's a real strange looking thing. Would love to give it a go though and see what all the fuss is about!

I love beautyeditor.com fusspot :hearts:

Ahhhhhhhhh - this would be the Pink Egg.

Beautyistas in the US rave about this - it has a major following, and apparently gives the most amazing finish. You 'bounce' the foundation on. I will look and see if I can find the exact instructions for it.

TeeJay

That would be great Rosie...I'm a little scared to start 'bouncing' my foundation on without being shown! :chuckle:

For concealer : use it dry and pat the pointed end into the eye area.

For foundations : wet the sponge first and squeeze it dry. Apply your foundation to your face and then bounce the egg over your skin. The sponge soaks up little foundation.

More to come, I am working on it.

A couple of reviews by uber-beautyistas - these women are VERY picky, and very dedicated to their makeup. And I mean VERY! If Marcia loves it this much, you know it's gotta be good.

Intriguing but not sure I would pay $30 for it.Maybe if I wore mostly liquid foundation I would consider it but with minerals..meh.

That looks interesting. I use a wedge shaped silicone sponge. I use that powder foundation from Dior that has the physical barrier 25+ sunscreen? Diorsnow or whatever it is called, so I don't worry too much about how much is absorbed because it is a powder? It also was a GWP when I ordered some stuff online. I should be worried because it probably costs and arm and a leg and I WILL have to replace it sooner or later.
Anyway, I would give it a try. How much is it, again?

Ahh, I see. $30 is a lot for a sponge. I hate wearing foundation anyway. lol.

Yeah, it doesn't work so well with minerals from what I hear. Definitely for liquids.

Years ago I brought back from Paris a very strange makeup sponge. It was also a teardrop shape, about 1cm thick and around 7-8cm long. It was a pale beige colour and as hard as a rock. Infact I thought it was a pumice stone. Sure enough, with (heaps) of soaking with warm water this rock swelled to a rubbery feeling makeup sponge. I am sure I still have this.....somewhere!:chuckle::redcheeks:

An ancestor of the Pink Egg Miss Luisa?

Luisa Brown

It could be! But this one was as hard as a rock. I think the pink egg is soft??

Hey girls,

The hot pink sponge is available in Australia I think through beautyblender.com.au. There have been lots of good local reviews too from BE & Beauty Buzz on news.com.au

:waving: Kate or Celeste have you heard much about this?

What can you tell us if anything about this sponge?

Hi Celeste,

So you've actually seen it! What does it feel like? It looks sooo cute I really want to try one!

I heard it's quite popular with make up artists. The news showed showed footage of fashion week backstage and the Mac Make-up artists were using the hot pink sponge backstage at fashion week - I suppose that says something!!!

Yes it would be great if you can get a hold of it. BE did a review and Katrina said great things about it too. I suppose only time will tell.

Celeste keep us posted.:glee:

I'm not convinced!

I think I'll stick with my trusty foundation brush for liquid, and $2 foam sponge for cream/stick....

Well I won't post an opinion on the Hot Pink Sponge it until I try it....I'm ordering it tonight...the suspense is killing me, shipping is 1-3 days so I'll let you girls know what I think when I receive it next week.

I was reading through their site the sponge is actually called beauty blender.

It's currently used by Carmen Electra, Shakira, Oprah, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jessica Simpson, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Avril Lavigne, even Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs LOL :chuckle:

There's a press page too which shows you all the magazines the sponge, or shall I say beauty blender has been in...Vogue, Cosmo, Elle, Glamour, Allure, Instyle and many others. It's been fascinating reading through the articles!!!!!

I also found out more reviews on the vogue forum,

http://forums.vogue.com.au/showthread.php?t=281037&page=3

The aussie girls seem to rave about it...I hope it lives up to the hype?????

I can't wait so I am ordering one now!!! :glee:

:waving: Hi Teejay, I received the sponge and cleanser this week and finally tried it yesterday - I absolutely love it - it really does blend my makeup without any effort and I don't need to use so much makeup. Big tick from me :penguin:
