Just had to tell you all about my fab day yesterday @ The Ginseng Bathhouse www.cresthotel.com.au in Kingscross.
Its a traditional Korean Bathhouse run by Koreans but everyone goes. Basically you get nude & soak in the baths (Ginseng or really hot or freezing water), steam in the saunas and get traditional Korean treatments. It is such fantastic value - $100 for entry, skin scrub, facial & massage. Beat that!
Be warned though this is NOT your salon experience or for the faint hearted. the whole space is communal including the treatment room. You will laid on a salon bed & scrubbed within an inch of your life. Yes it might hurt but you have never felt skin like this afterward. They will throw buckets of warm water over you to rinse you down. They will give you a head massage and apply honey to your face topped with cold cucumber. They will wrap you in hot wet towels and massage you like you've never been handled before. Expect pummelling, slapping and punching on your muscles. The girls will also stand on you & use their weight to massage. Afterward you can soak in the baths again or take nap in the sleeping room.
Today my skin feels awersome and my face is so smooth & soft. I love it. So if you're in Sydney you must go (take a girlfriend) or seek out one in your city. You'l be converted. :worship:

I have heard about this place before and have heard some great stuff. I would love to go to a place like that but the whole being naked thing just freaks me out!

The ginseng bathhouse is great!

It's quite an experience to wander about naked and forget that you are! The baths are fantastic, but as has been said it is traditional and no frills for sure.

The facial is not a facial, it's just some honey plonked on your face with some cucumber, but the body massage and exfoliation is excellent.

For a different experience this is the place to go... you can bring your manicure bits and bobs and sit with a friend to manicure away as you can stay for hours and they also have a sleeping room for some down time after!

Sounds fab. I'm no nudist but it is an experience I would like - maybe it would help me get over some of my body issues by walking around starkers!!! Medusa, I treid to look at the website but it said I don't have the credentials to get in??Do you know if there is a place in Melbourne?

Sorry I used the Hotel's link before.
You loose the nude nerves after 5 minutes. Once you see that everyone else looks the same without clothes on you feel much better. Theres plenty of cellulite, saggy boobs, stretch marks, scars and fuzz walking around. In fact I feel so much more confident about my body after being in there and seeing what everyone really looks like. Clothes hide, sculpt and create many illusions not to mention the wonders of hair products and make up. Put aside all that and really we're all the same. :waving:

Sounds amazing and Medusa, you are totally right. Doesn't appear to be a bath house in Melbourne but I will try to remember to book in whenever I am in Sydney next!
Thanks for the tip xx

Sounds like an experience! There is no way I could do something like that although I wish I could. It sounds amazing. Although the thought of people standing on me is a little frightening.

Because I have a lot of scarring from having surgery I just wouldn't be comfortable in a communal environment like that. However good on all of you who can do it.

I think even if I didn't have scarring I am too private and inhibited to do that.
