When is your skin in tip top shape? When you;

Use a certain product or products
When you eat a certain thing or follow a certain diet
When you exercise or do a certain type of exercise i.e. yoga, cardio, pilates??
When your happy, stressfree, etc
At a certain time of the month
or a combinatin of the above???

I've decided to montor mine closely to see if certain things I eat, use or do make my skin glow...fingers crossed I find the secret to whipping my skin into shape :whipcrack::glee:

definitely time of month , food if i have been really overboard , but mostly it would be laziness with skincare , missing my night routine :whipcrack: , & nowadays i find if i try to take away certain products my skin reacts :shakehead:

A whole block of Lindt chocolate doesn't help - I can feel the breakouts already

When I eat well, don't stress too much, and drin lots of water, and get enough exercise.

The fact that my hormone levels remain pretty stable (thank you HRT) helps with my skin a lot, no monthly issues.

Genes! ;) then I say that it is important to - get enough sleep (consistency), minimal stress, healthy well balanced diet and then for me personally I think using high quality natural/organic products contribute to my attempts at maintaining a holistic lifestyle :) lastly regular sustained exercise (i.e dance classes and yoga).

Mine is only in tip-top shape when I drink a ton of water - I really notice it when I don't.

i notice that my skin is best when i have time off work... unfortunately that is only once or twice a year! otherwise, i would say it is next best when i am less stressed, avoiding too much refined sugar (i.e. honey is good & lollies are bad), it is not that time of the month and i am sticking to a skincare routine (i.e. not chopping & changing).

re: chocolate - i have no problem with chocolate as long as its good quality dark chocolate consumed in moderation :spin:

I agree ladyver with the honey and dark choccy they are great because they give you that sweet hit that you need but don't come with all the nasties that make you break out! That's it...it's more honey and dark choccy for me this week :)

Hmm I used to break out before a period but since I've been on the Qtica I haven't had any breakouts. But I'd still say it's a combo of eating vegies and doing exercise

Well after avoiding retinal burn :redcheeks:

Water and sleep. If I want sleep I need to avoid refined sugar and caffeine so they are no my list to.

Is this the silica supplement, amaranth?

My two bob's worth:
Obviously we cannot ignore the influence of genes but for my oily skin a good but gentle cleansing routine is paramount, as is not using harsh products that upset my skin's balance. Eating a lot of fresh, unprocessed foods with wholegrains in place of starchy things makes a huge difference to my skin, as does flax oil. And a physical sunscreen.

yes the gel. I take it for my hair but it's helped my skin texture too

Where may I buy this, Amaranth? I work at Priceline Pharm. and haven't heard of it. Then again I have no clue as to the medicine sections!

I agree with the sunscreen. It does more than just stop sunburn.

If I pick at my skin I know I will breakout. Don't touch!:whipcrack:

Actually yes, not only avoid picking but touching generally.

jump onto www.qsilica.com.au. it tells you where to buy, state by state. I have been using the Qsilica tablets for a while. takes around 3 months to get into the system, however my nails and hair seem stronger and healthier too :)

Well, since I stopped eating bread, sugar and basically stopped drinking my skin has been pretty good. It has turned dry since I lost the weight, but I also think the climate here, being so different to home (Oregon is basically like England, with hotter summers, it rains alot!) has contributed.
I know if I don't get all my water in during the day (try to do at least two 750 ml bottles a day) or if I have a glass too many of wine (that is usually my best friends fault, since we start talking and lose count) I will see it the next day.
I have been breaking out (no fair, not menopause AND breakouts!!) on my chin lately and around my mouth, can't figure out what that is about, but I am working on it.
My skin has been at it's best since I have been 40, but now the wrinkles are coming. I don't mind the ones around my eyes, except for figuring out how to do my makeup, but the ones on my cheeks (like a permanent sleep crease) and the ones at the corners of my mouth really bother me. I think the ones at the corners of my mouth make me look cranky or tired or something!!
Basically though, old age (and my advanced decrepititude!) has been good to me.

I find that when i skip my nightly routine that is when my skin goes a bit crazy. Now i don't have bad skin i just have trouble in using the right products for my skin.

My skin is best when:
-I keep up with my daily and nightly routine
-drink lots of water
-when i'm on holidays and not wearing make-up every day

Yeah, same for me. And when I have a good diet happening too.
And if I don't follow my skincare routine well that doesn't help either.

One thing i always have in the fridge in case my skin plays up, or if my skin gets sunburned (not very often in Ireland) or just if my skin needs some TLC is Dr Hauschka's Rhythmic Night Conditioner. I find it so soothing - especially when its straight out of the fridge. Also I think i'm eating waaay too much tahini as my skin is oilier than normal and tahini can be really oily. Its just too yummy though :D

I stopped drinking coffee too, sometimes I can go a whole month without one but I know in April I did have 3 (1 starbucks, Esquires, Gravity) Coffee gives me headaches, I've tried all different kinds but nothing seems to not make me feel ill. So I've always been a herbal tea girl - particularly peppermint ;)

I might give rosehip oil another crack :spin: but I've noticed since using weleda's moisture cream - my skin is glowing.

Need to make sure I keep my water intake up in winter time too!

It's good for your skin to 'breathe' a bit but your makeup shouldn't really affect your skin. This is one of the reasons I love mineral makeup - it's like wearing nothing at all. Have you tried it PP?

I think that it is a mixture of all of these factors. Food, excercise and even skin care products each have a part in the health and texture of our skins. I try to keep a healthy diet and excercise at least 3-4 times a week. I also try to keep to a nightly skin care routine. Usually I succeed, even though there are still nights when I fall asleep on the couch and then go straight to bed without even watching my face. Bad habit :)

my MIL reckons my skin glows when I drink lots of water. That was back when I didn't do it regularly. Now I do because its so important :whipcrack:

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply C :redcheeks:

I haven't tried the mineral foundation yet, but i have some Everyday Mineals on the way so as soon as i get that i'll give it ago and see what i think. Hopefully i'll love it and be hooked on it, because i want something that is good for my skin.
