What is everyone doing?
What is everyone getting their mummy?

My gorgeous girl has a big surprise planned for me on Mother's Day, but she isn't dropped any hints at all....
I was. however, asked what I like to have breakfast :chuckle::chuckle::hugs:

I want to take my mum to High Tea, I think she would love it and thought my sisters should come too but they are whinging and screwing up their noses. :flames: They are so insular sometimes. I will take her regardless.

I'm not expecting anything. Its not worth getting my hopes up, the Boy is useless at this stuff. :shakehead: I do however love the gifts the girls make for me at school. :hearts:

Hehehe. Yeah, my daughter's school have the mother's day stall with $5 presents. Last year I got a really cool grey vase. They have some really great presents at the stalls. I give her $15 to buy one for me, and one for her grandmothers. She has a real knack of choosing just the right present for us.

I got a glass (just a regular water glass) with a couple of toffees in it! :chuckle: Though I made such a fuss about it that she got her dad the same thing for Father's Day! :chuckle: It's cute.

Today I gave the girls a calico shopping bag each to paint & decorate. I thought we might give then to my mum for M Day but I can't bear to part with their artwork. :hugs:

My mum is getting her B&BW stuff. Maybe the OPI polish she wants. And flowers - always flowers. I just have to check that she is going to be in the right end of the state to take delivery of it all:whipcrack:

Me, I am not expecting anything at all. It is Mr12's birthday on the Monday, and I am working, so we will celebrate that on Mother's Day. Chances are good my family will forget, although Mr19 may 'remember' - which means Miss17 will have reminded him.

Honestly, I would prefer housework done when I am at work, or just 'Thanks' occassionally than a big deal made on 1 day of the year. I send Mum flowers and give her stuff all the time, I ring or email my MIL regularly (too hard to send her stuff, they travel a lot), and let them know they matter.

I think i will cook my mummy breakfast or lunch maybe, i just can't decide what to buy her though. I also have to help my Dad think of something to buy her aswell, i think my mum is the hardest to buy for because she doesn't use too many girly things and everything she wants she just goes and buys anyway.

My mum is flying down to spend Mother's Day weekend with me and come to doctor's with me on the Friday - I haven't seen her since her car accident in February and think the trip away will do the world of good for her.

We don't really 'do' mother's or father's day in my family. I talk to mum Mum and Dad all the time and they know I love 'em. In primary school we used to make them stuff or buy them those hideous gifts (with their money :chuckle:) but nowadays we try and see each other on the day and I might take flowers - but that's it.

Mothers Day and Fathers Day are always hard days for me as I don't have contact with my family anymore. However, I will be spending it at the boys house and we are cooking a lovely meal for his mum, so I will still have a good day.

My Mum wants Mothers day at home this year. We usually always go out for lunch but this year she wants to stay home.

My brother is cooking lunch (great cook) and I have ordered her favourite Black Forrest Cake from the cake shop.

As far as pressies go I always give my Mum a book, a tattslotto gift pack, a bottle of perfume (usually Chanel No 5) and some PA Jim Jams.

I would like to take her to gold class to see a movie though.

Great idea for the movie PCC, I hardly ever go to the movies (as we watch them on DVD sometimes and when they come on the telly) I think the last time I went was in August last year and I've never gone gold class. My mum and I saw a movie together at the beginning of last year... so this would be a lovely treat, a new movie theatre opened at the new local mall the other day, so maybe p.s I love will still be on and we will go! ;) Im not working mothers day weekend. Im sure I can spare a couple of hours away from my studies.

I'd do that for Mum too but she's on a health kick (I'm so proud of her) and has lost 10kg so I think she'd throw the cake at me if I tried to take her there. Actually... if she throws the cake at me... does that mean I get twice as much?! On second thoughts... :chuckle:

I bought my mum a mobile phone. I also purchased her radio head set to listen to talk back radio whilst she is going walking.( well thats the plan. She wants to get fit. Since retiring she's gain a few kilos. She hasn't started yet)
Anyway I thought I could get a phone with am/fm radio( and kill 2 birds with one stone!) but I they only do FM. Dammit mother! Who listens to talk back radio anyway? She wouldn't even know where the fm station is!! So that why she had phone and radio head set. Now I have to teach her how to use a mobile phone!!! Duh!!
My girls asked me what do I want for mothers day. I said to the young one"just keep your room clean" and to the older one" please be nice to your younger sister!"The eldest replied "you know I can't do that! I'd rather buy you something!!" :explode::explode:Oh the joys!

Vee I have successfully made Medusa's Lemon Meringue Slice on numerous occasions and it works out every time. ( and I'm no chef by the way).
Very easy. And you don't have to worry about the "pie" bit.
Lemon Meringue Slice
270g Coconut Macaroon biscuits
125g butter, melted
400g can lite sweetened condensed milk
2 lemons, zested & juiced
2 eggs separated
1/2 cup caster sugar
1.5 cups dessiccated coconut

Grease & line a lamington pan approx 16x26cm
Process biscuits in a food processor to fine crumbs
Mix in the butter & press into the tin with hands
Refrigerate for 30min
Preheat oven 180 degrees
Combine the SC milk, lemon zest, 1/2 cup juice, egg yolks. Pour over the biscuit base.
Beat the egg whites to soft peaks add the sugar gradually until thick & glossy.
Fold the coconut into the egg whites then spread over the top of the lemon mix. (this is a bit tricky & I had to gently use my fingers to pull the egg white apart without upsetting the lemon. You could add extra egg whites for a fuller meringue)
Bake for 20min til golden.
Allow to cool in the tin before slicing.

Note: this is very coconutty so if you are not a big fan you could use plain biscuits like NICE for the base or you could omit the coconut in the meringue.
