OK so this is not a beauty blog in the strictest sense of the word - but an excellent article relating to beauty nevertheless:

So true! It's so sad that I find her appointment exciting. If women were equal in the workplace then gender would not even cop a mention... :shakehead:

Great article, Thanks Kate
It did strike me when I first saw her on the news with the PM when they annouced it and she was bending down to chat with some little kids. I can't recall them ever getting Cardinal George Pell to do this?

Also all the nonsense about the PM's wife's clothes on the world trip. PLEASE! Personally I applaud the woman for being able to get so many wears out of that LBD. :clapping:

I agree M. She should wear whatever she fancies.

I very much agree Medusa. I feel like they have protrayed her as a housewife, the way she acts and dresses.
I couldn't care less what PM's wife wears. Can't believe it makes the news! :shakehead:

She is actually a very successful Biz woman and prolly makes more than the PM.

I thought it was a great article because it really brings home how women are our own worst enemies when it comes to judging on appearances. We hate how paranoid we get about the way we look, but then we spend all our time slagging off everyone else.

Men don't judge other men on the way they look to anywhere near the extent that women judge women. (Mind you, men do judge other men on a range of stuff that's OK for women - ability to provide for the family, emotional vulnerability, outward trappings of "success" such as nice cars etc. So they have their own problems.)

But I think it gives us all something to think about. If we ever want to be free of worrying about cellulite/not having the "right" clothes/wrinkles, or if we ever want to be judged on our achievements/personality/intelligence and NOT our appearance, we've got to stop being so critical ourselves!

This porbably sounded wrong. :chuckle: To clarify I meant in my opinion they have portrayed Quention as a housewife - the dresses she wears and photo ops with children.

To my knowledge Therese (is that her name?) Pm's wife is a millionaire (I could be wrong) and I think, a fantastic business woman.

I was excited to read that France are going to press charges for any magazine or advertising company that promotes extreme thinness, with fines and potential jail sentences.

I know there are people who are naturally skinny and bony, just like there are people who naturally store more fat, but until eating disorders are no longer a major issue for women I think this sort of legislation provides some valuable guidelines about what is generally a healthy weight and will help to change people's perceptions about beauty.

I know, crazy! But as silly as it seems, when you're a public figure you just have to expect it. When I worked at APH the media advisers/PR people would give Ministers advice on their ties, body language etc. It's part and parcel unfortunately.

I agree in that I don't think there is anything like equality between men and women in the workplace. Female GG is a step in the right direction though. :clapping:

Well she may but the point is Why do we care so much about it? She is not the Prime Minister. Even if she was would her fashion sense have any bearing on her ability to govern?

I can't remember reading one article regarding the dress sense of any Male Politician's Wife, with the exception of Sonia McMahon all those years ago. That was only because she dressed like a sex kitten.:shakehead:

I did read an article a couple of years ago about the lack of style in Parliament. The writer (whoever it was) was just as brutal with the men as most are with the women. It was classic.
