I'm not sure if this is in the right section but as I only use these oils in the bath...I'm putting it here!

Does anybody have a regular aromatherapy routine? For instance, if I feel like this, I will burn some of this (insert feeling and then oil type).

I just found some of my bf's mums oils and am burning Tangarine. I also added a few drops to the bath. Apparently it helps with digestion, I just like the smell.

I forced my boyfriend to have lavendar aromatherapy baths when he had trouble sleeping. I like to think it helped him.

If I am feeling anxious then I will put on some lavender in an oil burner or on my pillow/in a tissue to smell.

Great thread toastie! :waving:

I love this thread. I often burn oils and the ones I usually use if I'm a little stressed are bergamot & lavender. If I'm feeling a bit tired and in need of rejuvenating I will burn bergamot, lemon & peppermint and if I have a cold or sinus I burn lavender, peppermint and tea tree or eucalyptus. Just a few of my favourites.

I put a few drops of lavender on my pillow at night if I want a deep sleep - it calms me if I am a bit restless. I also use Bach rescue remedy if I need to calm my nerves.

Of course coffee is a great scent if you need serious waking up ;)

I have heaps of esential oils. I am not educated terribly well in how to use them so I can be a bit dangerous with them.

One night I put on my electric Oil Burner and Put about 40 drops of Lavender Oil in it along with god knows how many others out of my collection and set it going in the longe room. I must admit I didn't dilute with water it was just pure oils :redcheeks:.

About 20 minutes later nobody could breath in the house and everyone felt like they were drunk or vague or something!:redcheeks::redcheeks:

Sapphy, I love Lavender on my pillow! I also spray Jo Malone Lino Nel Vento Scent Surround Spray on my Bed Linen, it smells like a bouquet of Lavender.:hearts:

Another one here! I also feel that if I don't stay up past midnight, I'm 'wasting' the evening. I tend to stay up much later than I should to get really, really tired so I can sleep through.

I like lavender oil and have also tried a pillow mist spray that seemed to help. Think it was Bloom?

I use lavendar in an electric oil burner to calm and promote sleep too. I've had trouble sleeping for as long as I can remember, but I'm the same, my thoughts race at night!

Trash, look out for the Oil Garden range of aromatherapy oils. These are actually owned by In Essence. If you ever make it down to Fitzroy, they have a store at the In Essence offices in Kerr Street right next to Smith Street end.

I think you are talking about Perfect Potion "sweet dreams" pillow spray? It really helps. My daughter has never had trouble sleeping, she is usually out within 5mins from when she was a baby until now, however she loves to spray her pillow before sleep - it's a ritual now - and she says it gives her great dreams :)

I would love to be unconscious in three seconds! It usually takes me anything up to 2 hours to nod off:yawn:
Any specific oils you would recommend PCC?
Lavender seems to wake me up! OK I know, I'm weird!! :chuckle:

Try Marjoram. It is the most sedating oil. Can give you vivid dreams but works a treat. Remember to always dilute in a carrier oil. Let me know if you want a breakdown on how many drops to your volume of carrier oil. Dont use it if you have been drinking alcohol or need to drive soon after. This one is actually good for hypertension (high BP) Gilly. Not for use in pregnancy.

Iheard somewhere that about 1% of the population have the opposite reaction than most people to essential oils. Maybe try something that most people find awakening or envigorating... peppermint? citrus?

Luisa i'd really like to know the breakdown of how many drops to volume of oil carrier if you don't mind. I had no idea that marjoram was sedating - would love to be sedated! I'm an insomniac and have just kinda given up on ever getting a 'normal' nights sleep, so i'd love to try it.. :waving:

I would really appreciate a breakdown of how much to use, I will be using camellia oil as my carrier, if you don't think that is suitable I also have jojoba.
The fact that its good for high blood pressure is great, I need all the help I can get right now!!
Would I just use it on pulse points or would I rub it into a larger area, I have no idea what it smells like but I imagine its quite "herby" so I could not wear it during the day at work but it would be fine at night as hubby has no sense of smell at all!!
I am going shopping tonight so I may get a good nights sleep tonight :clapping: :glee:

I shook some on my pillow and put some (mixed) on my wrists then went to bed, THEN THE ALARM WENT OFF!!!!!!

Just found this thread. I am studying to get my diploma in aromatherapy. I want to finish it before we move back to the US (IF we do, I should say) because right now it is not recognized in the US so you can't take accredited courses in AT there. I am very interested in natural remedies, etc. I have just started my studies, currently working on the A&P units, blah! but will learn alot I think. I should have my class on skincare and making skin care lotions and potions soon. I work full time, so this course works for me, since it is mostly self-paced study from packets with some in person classes on massage techniques, etc. I really want to take a massage therapy course, too, but I don't think my back is going to like that, so I probably won't be able to do it.

Inessence have a great range, sometimes they have a pack of 3 on sale.
Lavender is always a good one to destress, my b/f thinks I smell like an old person when I bath in it.
I think an inessence blend is the way to go.

I create my own Aromatherapy blends for oil burners (i run my own company called Bottled up Emotions (http://www.bottledupemotions.com.au)).

What I tend to find with a lot of people, is that they stick to the basic oils such as lavender, chamomile and peppermint and not realise that there are so many natural oils out, which are therapeutic and won't leave you smelling like "old people's homes".

A favourite blend of mine that is both relaxing and comforting is jasmine, vanilla and a hint of orange. And for sleeping, I add a drop of lemon with lavender and chamomile, which works well.
