She sashayed up to the bar, all swingy blonde hair and elegant cheekbones. Most heads turned. She smiled. And most heads turned away. Her teeth were a noticeably dirty yellow-brown. Attractiveness plummeted. It was slightly revolting.

I have to admit that I don't go to the dentist as much as I should :redcheeks: I am just so afraid they will find something wrong and it will cost a bomb.
That being said, my teeth look pretty good. Asthetically they are fine.

Geeze I went to the Dentist last Friday morning to have my root canal therapy finished and paid $600 for the pleasure, thank you very much.
I was also told that a cracked tooth of mine (a back invisible tooth) needs restoring with a crown and proceeded to receive an estimation of costs for the restoration and crown, $2000, thank you very much. Oh and I already have the specialised Bleaching Kit but had ran out of bleach so had to buy some more syringes of it $60 each thank you very much.
What's even worse is they booked me in there and then to get it fixed. My dentist is great and probably the best going here in Tassie but he is way too expensive in my opinion.
I won't even talk about my Veneers and how much al of those cost me!

PCC, all that expense is worth it in the end. I have also been pillaged by Dentists but am happy with the outcome. Hubby does not understand why I go to the Dental hygienist 6monthly when I polish my teeth morning and night and floss like a mad woman. :chuckle:

I use two different Toothpastes and a topical treatement after that, floss and then mouthwash religiously!
All the medication did things to my teeth which is why the enamel etc all wore away so veneers were really my only option for aesthetic reasons. The only alternative was having them all pulled and that just wasn't ever going to happen!

I am addicted to Supersmile toothpaste for this reason. I drink all the bad tooth-stainy things - coffee, tea, red wine, etc. - but I find if I use Supersmile it helps keep the stains off. I've got my brother onto the Supersmile as well, he's a sommelier so he gets a lot of red-wine staining otherwise.

I care SO much about teeth it's not funny. I had braces so I guess I think teeth are worth looking after and keeping pretty - I agree with the article - a smile is the first thing you look at.
I don't go to the dentist too often although whenever I do, I am told my teeth are in good shape. I have no fillings. Watch this space though - I am going to trial the GoSmile kit to see what difference it makes to whiteness!

I look after my teeth and always have but sometimes genetics get in the way -I have been plagued by cavities my entire life. Some of you may remember I went to the dentist for the first time in several years in the lead up to my wedding - I am still scared of the dentist because of many bad childhood and teenage experiences but I am a lot better - as are my teeth!
I would like to say that I think in this debate we need to make the distinction between teeth that are 'bad' because they are poorly looked after and teeth that are not perfect - which in my opinion does not make a person unattractive. I have been self-conscious about my largeish teeth for most of my life and it can be as emotionally draining as being overweight sometimes. But then I think about the whole being the sum of its parts - not the parts speaking for the whole - and I think that if the only thing I dislike about my appearence is my teeth then I am pretty lucky. Of course, this attitude totally depends on my state of mind but it is worth bringing up, methinks.

I have been lucky with my teeth - no fillings or problems or anything, I did have braces for 12 months but that was at the insistence of my mother who hated my Madonna gap (Especially as I also have a mole above my lip as well) and she felt it made me ugly so I had to get braces.
Thats awful Loola :shakehead:
I am lucky - I have had no problems with my teeth, never had braces or anything, my teeth look fine, I actually get people asking if I have had braces as they are straight.
Oh and I've put Supersmile on my wishlist! :clapping:

Yeah, not the nicest thing as a 15 year old, but besides that gap I had perfect teeth, and now I just have no gap! It stopped the "Like a Prayer" jokes from my brothers. You get over it.

this thread inspired me to start using my electric toothbrush again....I got a bit lazy with my regular toothbrush for a while there!
I always use an electric toothbrush, although when its flat and i've been lazy to charge it, i use my normal one. I have always worried that electric toothbrushes are bad for your teeth though. However they give a better clean!
