Elle Macpherson has been named as the latest global face of Revlon, joining the actresses Halle Berry, Jessica Alba and Beau Garrett as brand stablemates. Macpherson, who has never been backward in making a buck, is also joining countless other celebrities in backing beauty products. But does their endorsement make you want to buy their wares?

actually I don't think I have! I'm more likely to buy a product that I've heard great reviews about - not the fact it has a celebrity endorsement.

I have to admit - I like Elle a lot, but I do find her voice quite wishy washy.

They get paid to say good things about a product, so no I don't take a lot of notice/have a lot of trust. But if I read a raving review from more than one person for example on Adore - I'm straight in (when I finish what I'm using of course).

I have to say that when it comes to make-up no celebrity would really sway me. On the other hand, when it comes to skin care, if there is someone with really lovely skin that endorses a brand (for example Cate Blancett- SKII) then it puts that skin care on my radar.

I tend to agree. Even though I KNOW they have been air brushed and probably use 190465 different brands - it's hard to remember!

I would be far more inclined to take a recommendation of someone here on the forum than that of a celebrity who is being paid mega bucks to say good things.

I must admit that before the forum I could be sucked in to buying just about anything. Through my learning here on the forum I am now a lot more objective.

However I must admit I was excited about the Fafi launch at M.A.C although I didn't go overboard with my purchases. I am also looking forward to viewing Fergie's Viva Glam range for M.A.C but that's because I support Aids Research and have lost a childhood friend to the disease.
