One might think that being on the set of a TV commercial might be a bit glamorous. With two people fussing over your hair and make up, being photographed, filmed, powder puffed and tweaked every few minutes one should feel a little bit special.

A day on a shoot goes a little like so: I arrive at 8am and the breakfast spread complete with Bircher muesli and fresh juice is worth it! At eight thirty actors are called two by two into make up. Head make up artist and...

Well Alison, you have a real flair for writing!
I so enjoyed living this experience through your eyes. How grossed out were you by the lack of hygiene in the " Makeup Dept "?

hygiene was at its worst yesterday when we had another artist helping out onset and I had a lip brush weilded at me that already had old gloss on it. there were about 50 dancers on set as well as other actors so god only knows how many lips that had touched!

I found myself watching tv for hours. my onset 'boyfriend' and I went for a wonder around the shop... I need a replacement VCR player and found a great one (multitasking here!) and then we decided to head to the plasmas.. grabbed a couple of chairs and settled in for the evening between calls watching quality viewing such as 'ladette to lady'

Thanks for the article Lady A. It may be boring to you but fascinating to us who have never seen the inside of a commercial shoot.

OMG Allison,
Please take your own lip brush along next time!! Tell them you have cold sores or something so it looks like you are trying to protect everyone else from you!! Do they know you are a top Beauty Therapist? I am assuming NOT!
