Anyone been to see anything? Or planning to?

I went to Best of the Edinburgh Festival last night at the Capitol - it was excellent! Four guys doing standup - one from Aus (not very funny), one from Malawi (pretty funny), an American (very funny but also a bit aggressive at times) and a Canadian (hilarious and looked like McDreamy from Grey's ). Definitely recommend it as a good night's entertainment.

I'm also going to see Jason Chong, Pappy's Fun Club, and Nina Conti.

I want to go see Henry Rollins, but it is a bit expensive. I probably will go though.
I also wanted to go to one of the Spicks and Specs shows but I don't think that will happen.

I saw Geraldine Hickey's Miss-Guided and loooooved it. So funny. She's an up and comer and the show is so intimate and worth supporting. Don't go if you're opposed to bad language though!

Also saw Rapture by someone MacKenzie and it was crapola. My friend and I wanted to walk out but we had free tix (from a comedian friend) and it was a small venue and would have been so obvious. But we both hated it.

Trash, the Spicks and Specks show is now finished. Only ran for a week. We went to the last gig on Sunday night.

What did I think about it? Mmmm, apart from a few funny moments and lots of ad-libbing, not much. Infact, a member of the audience yelled out "when is this going to get funny". Not good!:shakehead:

Maybe it's the fact that you have to pay for the show? Which I totally agree with because I am a tightarse and hate having to pay for just about anything.

See I couldn't watch amateur standup for that reason... but if it's someone that you've paid to see, they won't embarrass themselves :chuckle:

I went last year, itwas so much fun! my friend I went with had to go up on stage, it was brilliant, we sat front row. we had a great time. For the life of me, I cant remember who were went and saw, he was Irish!, fabulous comedy act - totally not forced or fake!, like some can be.

Went to see Jason Chong's Minority Retort last night (in a tiny shoebox-sized room at the Portland Hotel) - hilarious!! But also quite thought-provoking at times. The tix were only $18 so it was definitely worth it IMO.

Saw Pappy's Fun Club on Tuesday night - very silly sketch comedy - four British guys who obviously watched far too much Monty Python and The Goodies. Still pretty funny though.

Last night I saw Nina Conti - a ventriloquist - she was HILARIOUS. Filthy, but very talented. There's quite a few videos of her on Youtube - http://youtube.com/results?search_query=nina+conti&search_type= (although don't watch if you're offended by bad language as the monkey swears like a trooper :chuckle: )
