This is for all the daft/unusual things that you hear people ssay (or say yourself). Inspired by what someone said to me last night at work ..........
'Thank God you're you Rosie.'
My response was 'Well, I'd have a hard time being anyone else now wouldn't I?!'
Yes, I was being a smart aleck, but for a good reason, the poor bugger is going through Hell, and was on the verge of tears, so I thought if I made her laugh, she'd forget to cry. Worked too.

Haha, Rosie.
I get a lot of "you're tall" (in many, many different forms). It doesn't seem like a big deal until you get it with nearly every person you meet. If I'm feeling friendly I'll just smile, if I think it was said in a bitchy way I'll raise my eyebrows and say nothing. Or sometimes I'm like "OMG u serious?! Like how tall?! I hadn't even realised..."

When someone is wrong I always say "Nah, sorry buddy". I just get repeating it. It's pretty funny. It makes my bf grumpy so it is quite hilarious. There is just this way in which you need to say it.

I was on the train once, and you know how there is that voice that says things like "next station..." and "door's closing" ?? Well I overheard this chick saying ...'man I would HATE to have that woman's job" hahaha :chuckle:

Argh! I get this too! And then you feel conscious of it and feel a bit odd around short people and if you say to them 'I feel so tall' they get all offended and tell me I am not that tall  It kills me

That reminds me of my daughter on the train.. Every time they say 'doors closing, please stand clear' she stands up straight and then sits down... After awhile I asked what on earth she was doing and she says 'the man keeps telling me to, he says please stand clea!' I'm like  Dag! Every. Single. Traintrip. :chuckle:

Haha Celeste you can't win! I once said to someone "I'm not that tall, you're just really short" and they got all huffy!!

Oh totally - short people clearly have height issues too. Oh what I would do to be short. But as much as I hate to admit it, people are so right when they say 'you're tall, you are lucky cos you can carry weight better'. Not that I want to be a fat tall person but if I was 5 foot there is just nowhere for fat to go - except all over :chuckle:

when you are meeting someone and they expect the conversation to go a different way
Me: Hi Sam
S: Hi James
Me: I havent seen you in a while
S: Good thanks.
I am a shocker with this and it is usually me who does it. Then you both look off to the side for a minute and pretend it didnt happen.

James I do this ALL the time, esp with people I am not so familar with. See I don't hear them properly and if I don't know them well I am not familar with their speech (lip reading/voice memory kicks in here). I get sick of saying "I beg your pardon" 5000 times a day so I just start guessing. I'm a pretty good guesser. ;)

it tends to be that we short people don't realise how short we actually are until we stand next to someone like Celeste - and we REALLY don't want to say 'Damn, I really am short' so we say 'Damn, you are tall.' Kind of shifts the focus a bit.........
If someone said to me that I was short, I'd agree, and make some smart @rse remark, cause that's what I do.

Yeah but if you just smile you can look like a bit of a knob. I've been caught out smiling so many times when i was meant to say 'yes' or 'no' or 'good thanks'. You really can't win. I need to start listening or invest in hearing aids :redcheeks:

yep when u r short , it is so , it's a bit of a revelation just how short u r
Celeste about being 5 foot & fat , yep , there is no where for it to go :chuckle: , tall is better for that [ well that is my story & I'm sticking to it ]
well u know what , i display many 'clangers'
the most recent & memorable was when i met RBB [for the first time] , i was also with Medusa & happened to say [not long after i meet up with them ] that i felt very tall around them [mind u it sounded worse than that ]

I must have missed that. Did I just smile and glaze over? :redcheeks:
I'm not offended.
I don't like it when people call me a "short arse" though as that implies short & stout. Not really a look I aspire to.
