Hi Aaron,
it will depend on which products you were recommended but you are right, high dosages of vitamin A are not good topically if you are taking it orally.
For the chest you can be gently exfoliating with the MD formulations face and body scrub:http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=3888
you can be applying the alpha h balancing moisturiser to the chest: http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=380
those should be fine unless your GP or dermatologist has specifically told you to avoid AHA (alpha hydroxy acids).
when you finish up the course of medication let me know and we can then look at a more active skin routine for you to keep things clear.

Did you want to tell me which specific products that you were recommended.
At this point I wouldn't recommend any more retinol topically however vitamin c would be great. Let me know what you have been recommended and I can take a look an adjust if need be!

I was recommended
Dermalogica Ultra Calming Cleanser
Dermalogica Intense Balance moustriser ( Although this has Vitamin A in it )
Dermalogica Intense Mousiter Mask ( although this has Vitamin A in it )
any help would be great but i currently use none of these on my chest cause im pretty sure there all just for the face the only thing i use for my chest is a Sorbelene Cream
any info for the chest would be the the opiteme of helpful
Lady Allison would be able to help but I thought I'd put my 2 cents in.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but face products could be used on your chest. Sorbolene Cream wouldn't be effective and it may be clogging your pores!

hey aaron,
you have been recommended very rich products there. I imagine the therapist was concerned about the dryness that is often associated with roaccutane.
My personal recommendations would be:
Murad soothing cleansing gel:http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewItem.asp?idproduct=5426
this is unique as it's a gel but it's for sensitised skin. It's great if you are brone to break outs as it's not milky but it's still there to calm the skin and won't leave it feeling dry
I would like to see you using the ultra c sheer moisturiser during the day (this is used only once a *day):http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=4734
this will support skin healing and redness and clearing.
You *could use up the dermalogica intensive moisturiser that you have in the evening. Use the mask if your skin is feeling sore, dry or dehydrated.
Those dermalogica products don't contain pure retinol, it's just a small ammount of retinol palmitate which is not as strong. If in doubt you can consult with whomever prescribed your medication as I don't want to offer any firm advice on that point.
Around your eyes I suggest the Dermadoctor wrinkle revenge eye cream:http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=8294
this is very calming and nourishing on the eye area, it doesn't have anything in it that will conflict with your medication either.
You can apply products for the face on the body and the ultra c sheer will be great as will the other body products that I recommended.
How does this sound so far?

I'm no skincare expert but for those on Roaccutane out there - I know it's not nice while you're on it but it's definitely worth it in the longterm! - I'll let you know what I recommend as someone who went through it!
I used Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser on my dermatologist's advice (he also recommended QV) while taking Roaccutane, which was non-irritating but not perfect (I still had dry, flaky skin and clogged pores). I have since discovered Malin + Goetz, however, and I would definitely recommend this brand for people who are taking or have taken Roaccutane because it is especially formulated for sensitive skin (almost ALL brands break me out but this one did not) and all its products are oil-free but still moisturising. After being on Roaccutane, my skin is prone to dryness, flakiness and sensitivity. I used the exfoliator, cleanser, serum and moisturiser and together these have made my skin close to perfect :)
FYI, Malin + Goetz is sold at Mecca.
