Bit of both I think. Always nice to have a classic (I have the EDP at the moment in the classic bottle) but I think you are right - men do like to play it safe and this one if probably etched in most guys' mind!

I guess if you're going to buy a fragrance but don't know what to get, it's best to stick with a classic... I like No.5 but only in the parfum - the EDT is a bit "fluffy" for me.

Chanel No 5 is my Mum's fave fragrance. I don't like it much myself but I always have a bottle because it is such a cult classic. I love just having it there sitting on my tall boy looking back at me! Chanel No 5 is always going to be around where as other fragrances tend to come and go. I think Chanel No 5 epitomises Glamour, Luxury ans Style.
At the moment I am using the Chanel No 5 hair mist. It's very light and makes my hair smell gorgeous (you have to try this if you like No 5).
As for men buying Chanel No 5 I think it is always going to be the safe option for them. However as Chanel fragrances are always at the top end of the fragrance market, price wise, I guess it is natural for the sales assistants to try and sell the higher priced products!

I bought this for my mum a while ago and she loves it. It really is a classic fragrance and like pinkcupcake, even if you dont like the smell its great having it there to look at!

Ooh, it's not my favourite but it's a classic and I will always try and have a bottle!

I recently got the Chanel No 5 Intense Bath oil and it is gorgeous. It doesn't smell like the fragrance in that it is much much lighter and is so pretty. It comes in a gorgeous glass 400ml bottle and looks divine sitting on my bathroom cabinet! I haven't used it yet but just knowing it's there gives me great comfort Lol;)! I will definitely keep the bottle after I have used all the oil (which will take some time considring the size) because it is so decadent just to look at.
