As above... what perfume always gets noticed when you wear it?

Every single time I wear "By" Dolce & Gabbana, my partner says " Ooh you smell nice". :)

I get comments when I wear Clarins Par Amour....

I have a sample of that I think I should try that.

So far I think it's Issey Miyake L'eau D'issey (comments by girls) and Beyond Paradise (comments by boys)

Surprisingly I've got lots of comments on Ralph but I'm getting sick of it myself :(

Narcissco Rodriguez by the girls, Dior Adict by the boys!
Shalimar and L'Or de Torrente (not all that widely available here) also get comments.
My current fave Prada doesnt ilicit any response. Hmmm?

Well its a choice of two
the original Marc Jacobs or Euphoria Blossom by Calvin Kein
both are perfect for summer and winter and they seem to adjust their fragrance accordingly:)

I always get compliments from men when I wear Givenchy Only.
Women ask what scent when I wear Armani Mania.
Needless to say I wear Givenchy more often!!!

I'm using "Lovely" by SJP. I have had so many flattering comments. And I'm only using the body lotion at the moment, and not the perfume. I will definitely be buying some more.

Well this is a hard question as I have so many fragrances ( I am too embarrassed to tell you how many)! I have a rule that I never wear the same fragrance two days in a row. I have received many comments in the last two weeks on Princess By Vera Wang, Nina By Nina Ricci (which has toffee apples in it yum:), With Love By Hilary Duff and Flowerbomb by Vicotr and Rolfe! Oh and if anyone wants to know the ingredients in their Favourite Perfume there's a good chance I might know what they are!

Narcissco Rodriguez by the girls, Dior Addict by the boys!

Me too!

Both are the most sultry fragrances on the market- I usually hate heady perfumes but these always give me a little extra confidence and every perfume girl at Myer raves about NR whenever I'm there.

Celeste(Staff)
27-10-2006, 04:06 PM
Just a warning to be careful when shopping at Myer girls - I used to be a perfume girl and everyone works for a company and will tell you ANYTHING to get you to buy their brand - they are given hefty targets to reach. So remember: don't ask for their opinions, be true to your own sense of smell! And also it is always nicer to have a more 'unique' fragrance - I always try to avoid Armani and Ralph Lauren fragrances as every second person has them and I like to stand out!
My faves: 'Island' Michael Kors, 'Cinema' Yves Saint Laurent

27-10-2006, 07:34 PM
thanks for that advice :). Totally agree with you about the Ralph thing, I swear if I smell one more person wearing Ralph Lauren Romance I'll scream. I never used to be able to pick perfumes very easily but it's completely obvious when people where that one and gives them no individuality. Same with J Lo's new one Live, it's already doing my nose in!

Yes I have tried the new Cassis Rose by the Body Shop it is a fruity floral EDT but I found it really didn't last that well on my skin. It also comes in an 30ml oil. I purchased the body lotion and shower gel which are quite lovely. It sound like you love all the perfumes that I do. Love the sweet ones! I also have 100ml in Princess and just love the bottle!:o

Has anyone used the Chanel NO 5 hair mist? I am not a huge fan of NO 5 but I was a teeny bit excited at the prospect of having a perfume for my hair! Do any other Chanel perfumes have matching hair mists?

Luisa Brown
29-10-2006, 06:17 PM
I have tried the hair mist and received one as a sample when I bought from the Chanel counter. Believe it or not, never used it on my hair, used it as an EDT! Dont know how well they work for smoke stinky hair and I have yet to see another in the Chanel (or other) ranges.

Thierry Mugler Angel has a hair mist, it is divine - I can't wear the actual perfume, it's too strong for me, but the body products seem to be a bit lighter.

Most days I wear Narciso Rodriguez and get the odd comment from women and sometimes men. A friend of mine was in Myer recently and smelt a sample of NR and said 'it smells like you!' - that was a nice compliment, even if it weren't intended as one! Blue and Glamorous by Ralph Lauren get a few comments from men and women - they're pretty and inoffensive work smells. I don't know why, but it bugs me when people don't comment on my perfume - its a bit of neurosis I guess, but I worry that I either a) smell or b) don't smell good...should get over it really.

I can only wear a few fragrances as I develop intolerances to many of them...

I loved Angel, but after going thru 2 bottles of it (way back when it first came out) I developed the intolerance (which is nausea, vomitting and migraines). Now I retch when a just catch a whiff of it on someone else...

But my faves (which I can wear, hassle free) are:

Champs Elysees, Guerlain (absolute fave)
Tresor, Lancome
Eterntiy, CK
Deci Dela, Nina Ricci
Paris, YSL
Babydoll, YSL

I get the most comments from both girls and guys (but mostly guys) when I wear Champs Elysees - guys really swoon over this one.... Everyone who knows me knows this is my signature scent...

I used to get many comments from Blonde (Versace) but now I seem to feel nauseous from it - but a bit embarassing when people would ask what fragrance I was wearing and I would respond with "Blonde" - since I am bleached blonde and rather girlie... ;)

As soon as I put on my favourite "provocative woman" Elizabeth Arden I start to get compliments on how lovely I smell. I have been wearing Armani code lately (which I really like) but dont get a single comment.

Single note fragrances. Vanilla or Coconut in particular.
Although I have a range of scents everytime I wear these I always get comments. I can't smell them on me anymore. I have been wearing Vanilla since my teens. Guys in particular love it. I think it triggers memories or cravings in people when they smell those scents. I am often told when I wear Vanilla that I smell delicious, like a milkshake or a vanilla slice! Girls like the Coconut more, it reminds them of summer, the beach, lying somewhere tropical.
Naturally I love the Pure Fiji range.

No not unusual, I remember a quote from many years ago that said you had enough fragrance on it you could no longer smell it. Does that make sense??

Lol Luisa, I am definitely wearing enough then.:bunny:

I also only occassionally get told that I smell nice. I love it when people tell me that I smell nice! When I ask people why they don't tell me I am often answered with 'you always smell nice'. My friends have said to just assume I always smell nice because they will tell me when I don't!!!! :fish:

I wear a variety of purfumes but the one thing, which isnt a perfume at all but gets me a load of comments not to mention 'YOU SMELL INSANE' from my boyfriend is whenever i put ALFAPARF Milano Semi Di Lino Cristalli Liquidi Illuminating Serum in my hair, it does smell good i must admit. Ok so its not a fragrance, how frustrating but its great for shine and frizz and it smells sooooo good.

I also use a Cristalli fluide from Milano Italy. This one is for frizz and I get it from Petra Hair Care. Also love the smell, a little bit like a men's fragrance! Great stuff too!

It's the sort of fragrance that announces its arrival long before you enter a room...

Interesting. There's always (at least) one scent that gives you an instant migrane. For me it's Chloe Narcisse. Love the expression 'float my boat' by the way, it needs a comeback!

I missed this thread back in the day, so here goes:

Compliments from girls - Stella by Stella McCartney
Compliments from guys - Marc Jacobs. Pardner also really likes Guerlain Insolence.

Is that Stella or Stella Sheer? I've been wanting to try Stella Rose Absolute for a while now as I'm really on a rose kick right at the moment....have you tried it?

When I was pregnant my sense of smell was SO STRONG that I was put off perfume completely for the whole nine months. Each and every perfume made me gag and gave me a headache so I had to hide them all away for months which was sacrilege!

raspberryberet

It's the original Stella. I don't have Rose Absolute but have longingly sniffed it enroute through DJs. Just beautiful. Probably better for cooler weather though.

If you're on a rose kick I'd also recommend the Les Parfums de Rosine line at Mecca (if you haven't already). Some great varieties, from pure rose to rose with citrus hints.

Stella Rose Absolute is very similar to the original Stella it is just a stronger version in my opinion.

Thanks for the info raspberryberet, I'll have to check out the Stella Rose Absolute next time in DJ's. I have tried that line you mentioned that's available at Mecca, it's really nice! Another nice rose scent is Chantecaille Darby Rose and another one called Rose Muskissime but I can't remember who makes it.....

Pink cupcake, have you tred Stila's Jade Blossom? I actually prefer it over the Creme Bouquet now and is perfect with our warm Queensland weather because it's a crisp scent with cucumber and lemon verbena. Very green and quite unique in my opinion.

Hi Sarah,

I've got this - the peony and the amber - they are designed to be two toned, the ambers a solid perfume so you can layer them together or seperate (perfect for a girl who likes to chang her mind!!!).

I've not had any comments and must admit that I'm not a huge fan of the peony (so dont wear it alot), and the amber is nice, a very comforting winterish frangrance, cosy almost. I prefer this one, but find I dont wear it as often as I should as the application is just a tad more work and I almost always reach for a spray as it covers my clothes, hair etc.

My new faves are Jo Malone Gardenia and Rose - reminds me of my grandmother.... I do get comments on the rose almost evey time I wear it as it's so distinctive and fresh smelling - just like a fresh bunch of roses.

You have inspired me to try the Stella again though....

The one I consistently get comments on is Lolita Lempicka. I've been wearing it for about five years now but have eased off on it lately because, for one, heaps of people are wearing it now, and also it's more of a wintery fragrance and it's a bit much in summer. When I first started wearing it it never used to be available in Townsville and when people would ask me what it was, I would love saying "It's called Lolita Lempicka....I don't think you can get it in Townsville though.". Hehe so cheeky - it's so just a way of saying "I don't think YOU'll be wearing it anytime soon!".

It's funny, with all the expensive perfume I have now, get comments every now and again, but not as many as I used to get when I wore Revlon Unforgettable years ago. Everytime I wore that fragrance men would say how nice I smelt, &/or ask what perfume I was wearing so they could buy it for their OH. That happened at least once every day!

For real... or just bad at smelling?
If he really doesn't have a sense of smell, I wonder if he would still respond to certain smells in his brain - like he might not smell lavender but being around lavender might make him relax anyhow. I wonder where the problem is etc. You could have fun manipulating him without him knowing it - full on romantic scents etc haha.
