I wanted to start one because I want to get one for my 30th this year...Does anyone have a tattoo? :D

Gilly

Yep I've got one!

I have got a Japanese Kanji of the word Reiki on my right shoulder, I got it done when I hit 40, my Reiki means the world to me and I have got it for life just like the tattoo!

Oooh oooh what do you want A?

I have my name with a butterfly on my back, and a heart on my hip (I know, I know - I was 19!!) I don't regret either, no matter how much I laugh at them. To be honest I usually forget they are there, until they are pointed out to me. You would not believe the number of dodgy things I have heard about having my name on my back. But hey - I was told if you are going to get a tattoo it has to mean something to you = what can mean more to you than yourself?! (When you're 18)

I wouldn't mind getting another one at some point, but I don't think I will get another one. Unless I have the most beautiful children in the world at some point and decide to get their little names inked on me :chuckle:

I like tats but not coloured ones. I find them tacky. And I got mine in covered places so they are not constantly on show.

Anyone else?

Pardner and I were going to get them in LA but chickened out.

Still interested, but would have to be spontaneous I think. Have designs picked out though, so I guess not totally spontaneous!

Mine would be a small black cat in the middle of my back, the pardner's some alien 'believe' thing (very X-files :shakehead:)

Oh no RBB you should have got them done! Cool story to tell...!

Hubby has several - on his back 2 dragons (1 on each shoulderblade), on his left arm 2 monster faces, on his right a fuzzbot smoking a cigarette, a sexy lil' girl devil, the matching lil' boy devil and a big ugly devil.

I want one, but I don't know what.

I would like to have one. I have a few designs but I chicken out, plus if you get a tatoo, you can't give blood!, I cant remember how long you have to wait. I like to donate blood! so a tatoo might have to wait until Im in my late 50's or early 60's when I wont beable to donate any longer.

Rosie

12 months after a tatt before you can give blood again Alice.

I absolutely hate Tattoos personally. They make me feel sick thinking about them. Would you believe it was a prerequisite that my boyfriends had no tattoos!!

I think each to their own and it's your body to do with what you will except if your my partner :ashamed:!!

My brother and all of his team mates got one when they won the premiership in footy a while back and I vommitted when I first saw it! I think I have a phobia of them.

I really want one still, I think I have a pretty good threshold to pain. I just want to find my perfect design and find a good reputable tattoo studio.

You know what I think repulses me the most, when I see really old people with tattoos and their skin has sunk and wrinkled up! It looks positively dreadful!

Rosie

Yes, that is not a good look, I see that a lot at work. I often wonder what the tatt was originally, but am too scared to ask.

I'm getting a tattoo very similar to the one attached (obviously not the same, stealing someone elses tattoo is bad news). I have my first consultation next weekend!

I'm scared but also excited. I've shown a lot of people and had lots of different thoughts on it. None of them have made any difference! A lot of people hate it and a lot of people love it, I couldn't care less! I think it's frigging hot and it's going to look rad on me.

It's my first tattoo and people keep telling me not to get one so big but that doesn't work for me. I'm 6ft tall! I have to get a big, long tattoo otherwise it won't suit my body shape.

I'm getting it to accentuate my womanly features such as my hips, waist, breasts etc. The curves of the vines represent the curves of my body (sort of). I'm not getting it because it's deep, though. I'm getting it because it's sexalicious. It's going to be a 'corporate tattoo' that will be easily covered if I'm ever uncomfortable about showing it.

Everybody says "but what about when you're 80 and you're all wrinkled?? You'll regret it!". No, no I wont. The thing that I would regret if I was 80 would be is if I listened to people who thought they should decide what I put on my body and didn't get the tattoo I wanted.

Will look cool though

Toastie

Yeah it'll definitely have to be done in parts. I'm pretty good with pain, I'm looking forward to it. It's part of the whole experience.

I wouldn't care about the pain, just the money!!!!
Especially if your getting color as well Toastie

Love it Toastie, that is hot hot hot babe, you are gonna look awesome!! I wish I had the body to pull that off.. And I agree about the regretting it at 80 thing. Also about the old people with wrinkly tats, they would have wrinkly skin anyhow so who cares :chuckle:

I am pretty sure I know what I'm getting, but I don't want to post it here yet... But I want it on my inner left wrist where I can see it. I don't want it where I can't see it myself!!

Ozlicious
25-03-2008, 08:58 PM
Toastie that is going to be so friggin hot!!! As a general rule I am so not a fan of tattoos but I think that is, as you say, completely sexalicious and also quite girly. It's not harsh or biker-chick. Absolutely freakin love it!

I almost had one done in Kings Cross a few years back but chickened out just as the spinning needles was just about to touch my shoulder blade!

I dont want one anymore. Makes me think of that old 80 year old woman on that TV commercial with the wrinkled tribal tattoo on her upper arm - yuk!

I think I admire people who have tattoos for this reason. Even if they didn't like it when they got older at least it was a reminder of what you were like. It's a piece of your history.
This is why I have no problems with tattoos. Can't wait to get some myself. Now, if only I could draw.........

It went really well! I did my reasearch and I'm going with who I think is the best tatt artist in the city. He said the design was great and they'd done it in a really interesting way. He's going to draw up a design for me this week to have a look at. I'm excited!

Medusa

Can I ask how much it will cost in total?
My BIL is covered in Tatts and I am horrified at how much he spends on them seeing how they can't really afford it.

Toastie
09-04-2008, 09:44 PM
Medusa, I know it will be over $1000. That's a lot! But I've been saving my money for it. I've stopped buying make-up, I moved back in with my parents, I've stoppped buying first hand clothes and I make my lunch everyday. I am definitely not somebody who is careless with money and I know a tattoo isn't really an investment :chuckle: so I'm putting in the hard yards before I get it to ease the guilt.

I don't know yet. He couldn't really tell me when I took in the pic, he said it was too big and too detailed to give me an estimate at that point. Aaaarggghh I'm so excited.

My mum, however, is not so chuffed. And I can't get it without her approval (the guilt!). So I'll spend the next few weeks/months convincing her and then we'll get it.
