This is an interesting article - we are more than we initially see in the mirror :)

I find this when I take photos of myself. At first I inevitably HATE them and think "I don't look like that" but the more I look at them (and I do sometimes just stare at photos of myself :redcheeks:) I start to see the person that other people see. I think it's important to have a few beautiful (or as good as you can get) photos of yourself so that you can go back to them and think "hey....I'm not so bad.".

So true Ozz - I have a tendency to destroy photos of myself that I find unflattering yet my husband loves them (ain't love blind, lol). The thing is, I am a high achiever and a perfectionist in so many aspects of my life, including my looks. Which means that what others see as a nice photo or in real life, a reasonably attractive woman, I find myself wanting to be the most beautiful, the most striking, the most stylish - just as I want to be the most talented, the most intelligent, the kindest person, the best listener etc. I want it all which means that sometimes I feel very sub-standard.

Yes Saph, perfectionism is very hard on one's own perception of self. We are so WARPED sometimes!!

Having said that, sometimes I go out thinking I look all hot and I wonder if other people think I am completely deluded. :shakehead:

Ha me too - I am a typical Leo in that sense - I can swing from complete bouncing off the wall self confidence to complete inner self-destruction.

Just read this one, and it's very good. ACtually, all the articles I have read there are excellent. Thank you Sapphy for sharing that site :worship:

No worries Rosie :hugs: I think Luisa B got me onto Carefair a couple of years ago on the forum.

PS I love this article too - can especially identify with the crossroads concept. Also love the line:

"We all know someone that isn`t calendar or pin-up material, but their energy, their charm, their humor, and the qualities that make them inherently unique make them highly attractive to us, enjoyable to be around, and many times, lovely to look at."

I always used to believe this - that an indefinable x factor or a mysterious element is what makes a person truly mesmerizing and attractive. But in the last couple of years I've somehow lost sight of that, which is very alarming. This is a good wakeup call. Thanks Rosie! xoxo
