Hi,
I need some help finding some new skincare products. I was using nimue for over a year and now feel like changing products.
My skin ranges from normal to slightly oily.
I'm looking for products that have very little scent and a combined moisturiser/sunscreen.
Can anyone recommend a new simple regimen (day & night) for me to try? And also a weekly mask?
Thanks for any help :)

I am no expert but have tried a lot of products. I have combination skin.
You could always ask our resident Beauty Therapist Lady Allison. It really depends on what your budget is as to what to recommend. We probably need a bit more info on what you are looking for for your particular skin concerns. Is there any problems with acne or pigmentation? Do you prefer more gentle products or products with more active ingredients such as glycolic acid?

Hi anjeltear! :waving:
It seems that you have been using an active skincare range for the past 12 months. I would recommend your request be moved to the " Ask Lady Allison " thread in order that you receive a complete skincare prescription.
James may be able to organise this for you?????

Hi, thanks for the replies and for moving the topic :)
I'm 24. I don't have bad acne or pigmentation. Problem areas are my chin, nose and forehead (blackheads).
I finished using Nimue over a month ago and haven't been using anything since.
Budget: I would like to keep it reasonable, however, if something is worth it I don't mind paying a bit extra.
glycolic acid? :o I'll be honest, I'm totally clueless about skincare products. Got onto Nimue through my sister.
I'm just looking for a simple routine (keyword being simple as I can get a bit lazy, esp. at night :redcheeks:) to help with some blackheads and an occasional pimple.
I've been considering going with Dermalogica. Has anyone had any problems with this product?

I look forward to seeing what Lady A prescribes, always fun to see what routine she comes up with!
In my totally bias perspective, and from a consumer point of view not a professional, Im a total Dr Hauschka junkie, I am nuts about natural/organics, currently using other low end organic brands. I have found that these brands generally offer simple holistic routines that treat any skin concerns, rather than covering them up or offering a quick fix that may not be beneficial to your skin in the long term.
Im lazy too. I like a fast, very simple routine.
If I could I would seriously use dr hauschka all the time, the stuff is fabulous, particularly the cleansing cream - which has a cult following on this forum. It keeps blackheads/pimples away for a few of the girls on here and is totally amazing! ... You can use the tiniest amount as it is concentrated, every day - most choose to use in the AM. It is a deep yet nourishing cleanser that I think is one of the most important components to a skin care routine.
Then in AM and PM spray a little toner on for you I'd say the clarifying toner, this is beautiful - specifically for problematic or sensitive skin, if you want to use a cotton ball/pad to apply then do this too.
Lastly in the morning, apply one of the moisturisers - at night you do not use a cream, as dr hauschka's philosophy believes in the importance of allowing the skin to breathe, produce its own hyrdation etc, etc .... If you do wear makeup you can use the cleansing milk at night instead of repeating the cleansing process with the cleansing cream.
 take my suggestion with a grain of salt, its up to you ultimately, but my best advice would be check out the skincare threads, wait to see what Allison recommends and do your self a favour if you have the time - self educate, research (the internet, brand awareness, the library). ;) best of luck!

Oh I love Dermalogica! I have used it for years on and off and always have a supply of it. It's what I always end up going back to!
Alpha-H and Ultraceuticals also are huge favourites here on the forum. If your skin is a bit oily and you suffer from Blackheads I would probably be more inclined to go with Alpha-H but remember I am no expert so Allison should probably be doing the advising here.
If I had to suggest some products for you I would probably go something Like this:
Alpha-H Tripple Action Cleanser - Contains an antibacterial agent that stops acne causing bacteria.
Alpha-H Micro Cleanse - A scrub with Glycolic Acid to be used once or twice a week. This stuff is seriously amazing (go and have a look in the Alpha-H product reviews here on the forum) many of us are obsessed with this. This will also help shift those awful blackheads.
Alpha-H Liquid Gold - This also contains glycolic acid as is brilliant for cleaning up breakouts and getting those blackheads that just wont budge to the surface.
Alpha-H Purifying Clay Mask - This is brilliant. Used once or twice a week this will soak up excess oil and get any impurities out of your skin. This is my favourite clay mask ever (believe me I have tried a few).
For Moisturiser I am going to skip brands and suggest either Dermalogica's Active Moist or Oil Control Lotion. I find both of thee great on my slightly oily t-zone.
Hope this helps. Really do take the time to check out the Alpha-h range. The products are brilliant and of a very high quality. Very reasonably priced for the quality.

hi there,
ok simple and effective yet cost effective... here goes.
purchase the active kit in the alpha h range plus i'll recommend just a couple of tweaks
active kit link: http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=5378
AM
cleanser -triple action cleanser in the kit
apply an eye cream
moisturise with balancing moisturiser i the kit
apply the becca spf 30+ primer:
because it's light and a great base for make up and doesn't feel heavy or clogging!
PM
cleanse
apply the ultraceuticals ultra A sheer cream:http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=10699
clearing and nice and light plus age preventative
apply an eye cream
weekly bits
use the masks in the kit once a week, they are fantastic for clearing and hydrating!
use the microcleanse in the kit for exfoliation three times a week. the granules and glycolic will help!
I can recommend an eye cream if you want me to also....
that makes it super simple and easy!
good?

Hi,
thank you for all the advice.
I tried some alpha h samples (cleanser, moisturiser and mask) last year and didn't really like it, my skin felt a bit greasy after using them.
I think I may go with Dermalogica. I went to some stores today asking about the products.
Problem is each person would say something different. Below are two of the main contradictory comments:
1. One person said that I should be doing a precleanse, followed by a double cleanse. Isn't that a little extreme? While, others said just cleanse once.
2. Toner isn't necessary vs. must not forget to use toner.
Allison, please recommend an eye cream for me... I tend to stay up late working, so it's kinda scary under my eyes :tears:
Thanks again for all the help and advice for all that replied, I really appreciate it :hearts:

The pre cleanse can be effective for make up removal so it's really up to you. I just double cleanse with my cleanser in the shower (because I am simple like that) but I always have a full regime of serum and moisturiser, eye cream and sun screen.
The texture of Alpha H products differ a LOT depending on the product as they make them for all different skin types. It's not a good thing if you are given the wrong sample for your skin condition and then feel a bit put off by the product generally. Which samples did you try?
I can recommend from dermalogica if you prefer that, but they don't have the ingredients that I am relying on to treat your pigmentation. Both the moisturisers I recommended there are light in texture... have a read of reviews on the forum and website too..
the eye cream that really helps with dark circles (I get those too!) is the ultraceuticals dark circle eye cream:http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=1859
It's hard to budge heriditary dark circles but this serum really boosts circulation in the area and also works on fine lines!
