....... live anywhere in Australia, where would it be? And why there?
Rosie

I'd go home, to the Deep South, if it was just me, and there was a way to guarantee my shoulder wouldn't suffer too much inthe Winter. I love it there.
Otherwise, I'd probably go Perth, Darwin or Brisvegas. Perth because it's a beautiful city, Darwin because it's the Wild Frontier, and Brisvegas because it's Brisvegas.
Although, if I could live in a wine region, I'd be happy.

I am genuinely living in the City of my choice. I love Melbourne and all it has to offer. :hearts:
For something a bit quieter, I could live in the Adelaide Hills or Freycinet Peninsula, Tassie.

I do love Brisbane and could (and will) easily live there again. I'd also love to live in Darwin for a while, and also the Sunshine Coast. Always had plenty of good times at the Sunny Coast. Can you tell I'm not a cold-weather girl? Although, I do love Canberra and would like to spend some time living there for sure. Everything it has to offer would cancel out the cold.

It is a wonderful city c. I would love to live in Melbourne!
My other choices:
Perth - for the climate, water, proximity to Margaret River area and because it's Perth
Any of the gorgeous towns along the NSW South Coast, like Bateman's Bay, Mollymook, Merimbula etc.

I would happily live in Tassie forever. I love where I live and grew up and I love the lifestyle here, so relaxed and laid back.
However the need to be with my fiancee has taken us through many years of a long distance relationship and I always said I would never move and that he should come here. BUT in fairness I love Melbourne also and I would happily go anywhere in the world as long as I was with him.
We had to really evaluate the prospects for his career in Hobart and as I had been sick and my job status was fluctuating constantly due to requiring extended periods of leave in the end it just wasn't practical for him to uproot and come here.
He has however made sure we have a place in Tassie as well for me to come home to whenever I feel the need so I hope we will have the best of both worlds.

VeeE, I LOVE to visit Sydney, there are so many great things going for it but I would never choose to live there. When Miss asked me (she was 8 during that visit) why people push and shove, overtake you on the escalators and dont walk with the traffic lights, it made for an interesting insight. Way too rushed for me to live there permanently.

I'd choose Sydney or Melbourne.. Love both. I'd like to see Hobart though, I reckon I'd like the weather so it's worth adding to my list, even though I haven't been there.
There is no way on earth I could live in Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra or Alice Springs (being the cities I have been to).

There are defiantely great points about Sydney, it is genuinely the most beauiful looking city in the world in my opinion, but yes, as you say waaaay too rushed.
Sometimes when I am driving across the Harbour Bridge I am literally in awe of how beautiful the view is.

Why's 2010 the move year?
We needed a timeframe. Had been talking vaguely about leaving in a couple of years, and then thought 2010 was our 'move to Sydney' deadline. But could be anytime during that year, we'll just see.
On a side note, how crazy is it that 2010 is in 2 years time?!?!? Eeep.

I have lived in Sydney - well actually the Central Coast. I've also lived on the Gold Coast. Neither of which I can say I would personally want to live there again!. I love to visit Sydney, I feel really comfortable there, I like the shops, public transport, the touristy places, Crows Nest - theres an awesome Indian restuarant, the shops at North Sydeny station, forgot the name of the mall, the beaches on the central coast, especially Avoca Beach - walking around the rocks. The gold coast, hmmm. great shops, but it just seems so fake!, in my opnion.
I am planning to move to Melbourne in June/July. I visited when I was 14 yrs old. Then last year again twice! I fell in :hearts: the cafes, the walks by the river, the night life - i.e theatre/shows, pubs, dinners out at fed square and brunswick st. I think Smith street is great, you can find some great bargains and hidden tresures in some of those stores. 2 good friends live in Collingwood and its great, so easy to get around with trams and trains.
I would like to see more of Australia. I have been visiting at least once every year of my life.... I have explored the east coast from Noosa all the way down to Melbourne. I would like to see Adelaide, Perth and Alice Springs - my Mum has lived in all 3 cities when she was my age.
Some of my other favourite places that I could live in - Port Stephens, Coffs Harbour, Kiama (near Woollongong) and Byron Bay.
I love Crows Nest too Alice. You're not talking about Malaya by any chance are you? if you like Indian, you MUST go there. And then Blue Elephant to try out the Sri Lankan food.

A warm Tassie in winter? Hmmm better stick to a bottle of wine in front of the heater I think!! \

I am afraid this is changing. I live right in the middle of Melbourne and on a daily baisis I see people walking when the light is red, overtaking on ecscalators etc. Today I stood at one sets of traffic lights and this guy just casually strolls across the right light, cars have to stop because of him, he does not give a sh... It makes me really angry. Some overseas tourist were standing next to me and they commented on it, they could not believe it. And like I see it every day happening right across the city. What is wrong with these people? They have no regards for anything.
They are predicting Melbourne will grow bigger than Sydney, I am not looking forward to that. They can hardly cope with the traffic and infrastructure now.

I live in Perth but Melbourne wins hands down for the culture, architecture, vibrancy etc - I do miss it and would love to one day move back. Perth is gorgeous and the balmy weather suits me to a T but as an arty person who enjoys a nice drop of vino with girlfriends in a gorgeous bar I find Perth solely lacking in this respect. The river here, the sun, the beach, proximity to the south west as well as the intriguing desert country in the north are huge drawcards but when you live here for a while, or move here without friends, or are not the 'outdoorsy' type this can be a very isolating city.
That said, I think I would like to live in Broome one day!

The perfumes in the mail thing has to do with them being packed under pressure, and containing alcohol. They are explosive/flammable and therefore covered under the Dangerous Goods Act.
They are meant to be packaged a certain way to make them safe for transport by air (cargo holds are decompressed, so explosion is a risk if goods are under pressure and/or flammable).

I have all the Will and Grace seasons on DVD. Love it to pieces. Karen is such a hoot and I see parts of myself in her!
