Girls, I have a business idea that has been kicking around in my head for the past year or so but I have no idea of how to get it off the ground. It's aimed at the singles scene for those who are cosmopolitan and classy and would only cost about $10. Have any of you got any contacts who I might be able to discuss this business idea with? I'm sorry to be so "secret squirrel" about the whole thing - it's just that it's such a simple idea that if someone was already an entrepreneur they'd be able to move on this in a second! :whipcrack:

Would you be looking for a business partner or someone to "buy" the idea from you or just advice/mentorship or what?....

Oh, he he he... You can see what a business retard I am I didn't think of any of those options.
I want to be able to know how to copywrite the idea, source a manufacturer for the product (it's a really cheap product to make) and get help marketing it...

Just wanted to clarify in case anyone was worried...
I'm not going to push this GREAT :chuckle: business idea on Adore (it's not beauty related). I just have absolutely no idea how to get a business idea off the ground and would love any suggestions or encouragement whatsoever from my fellow Adorables. :hugs:

Haha I have no clue about business but am trying to imagine what it might be! Is it one of those "I can't believe I didn't think of that?!" things you'd see on Oprah?

Hey CG,
Why dont you take a short business course. My man and I are thinking about starting a business and I took a class at the Workers Education Centre in SA. Maybe you have something like that near where you live. It ran for 6 weeks, 1 night a week and there was always question time at the end. I think it was about 40 bucks. Otherwise check out the ato webite ato.gov.au and you can get some really helpful advice and links to places that can help get you started. Hope that helps.

If you go to www.business.gov.au there is information on there about intellectual property etc that can help you. Your accountant (if you have one) should also be able to point you in the right direction, they should be able to source the right people for you. Also alot of local communities have business mentorship programs to help people new to business- maybe go to your local council or chamber of commerce they should also be able to assist you. HTH Good luck with your idea

Goodness girls, I'm so sorry. I wrote a long post thanking you all for your support and great ideas! But when I checked the thread just now it wasn't there???? Don't know what happened there.
Thank you sooooooooooooooooooo much.
The other thing I'd love suggestions for is for large social events (not events just for singles) where people might like to meet others... For example: the Spring Racing Carnival. Any other suggestions would be wonderful
