Which do you think looks best? I really can't seem to get rid of the blobs and spider legs!

Any tips?

Gorgeous eyes Gilly!

Take a look at the Favourite Mascara thread. Toward the end I give a tip to avoid glug - it's all in the way you remove the brush from the tube!

and this one on volumising mascara

Thanks for the compliment Luisa Brown!! :kissing:

I don't think they look too bad considering my age but I just wish I could get a REALLY good mascara that does not clump, go blobby or spidery and that won't give me racoon eyes!

Oh and it must not need a mortgage to pay for it! (I am still out of work so on a VERY tight budget!)

The tips are very good, I usually dye my lashes, as you can see, they need doing again but I just fancy having LONG lashes not THICK lashes! :redcheeks:

A good budget mascara that stop clumps is lash discovery.

J2 - what are your top 5 faves? I need to get a new one shortly and not sure what to get?

1. Loreal Volume shocking (my hg) (NOT VOLUME EXACT!! ITS AWFUL!)
2. Maybelline Lash Discovery (only for daytime)
3. Loreal Extension Carbon Black (I wear this as a top coat for extra blackness)
4. Elizabeth Arden Ceramide
5. Teloscopic (not the new silver one, thats crap. Only the gold one)

Gilly, have you thought of dark brown or a brown/black mascara. I can see you are very fair and a redhead/strawberry blonde (?). That colour will suit you much better.

I tried using brown or brown/black and they made me look tired! :shakehead:

I am interested in the Loreal Volume shocking one, I'm not too keen on the ones with fibres in, but I suppose I could always use just the colour rather than the fibre end, what do you think?

The lash artist was pretty good, its one with a comb, still goes a bit clumpy though when I do two coats!

The volume shocking primer is actually very silky, not fibrous at all. Its one of the reasons I love it.

There was length... not much volume. But then again i like my lashes to look like a drag queen. :clapping:

The one I tried was Blinc.

But the Mirenesse one I tried was good, it came off in the same way. Absolutely no residue left on my eyes whatsoever. And that was a first for me.

Do not go anywhere near one Rosie if you have sensitive eyes. I have tried two different brands and would never use them again. Despite going the distance and looking natural (not va voom), when it came time to remove them all the bits ended up in my eyes. You are supposed to remove them with water but I remove my eyemakeup with a remover and a cotton pad and this just got the mascara everywhere!

One day I also rubbed my eye unknowingly and had little bits break off and sit under my eye - not a good look!

Oh no really!!!

I had a weird way of taking it off. I would get in the shower and wet them, and then gently run my fingernail from the base of my lashes up, removing the "tubes"

Oh bugger! Guess I won't be playing after all. My eyes are woeful for mascara sensitivity. That's why I love the one I am using now so much, it's the first one ever not to cause issues.

When we had our first get to gether in Melbourne last November, Adore put on the most fabulous evening for us with yummy food, Chandon, Napolean makuep artists, Dermalogica consultations and consultations with Allison. On leaving we were all presented with the most enormous goodie bags you had ever seen.

Do a search on Adoreables Weekend.

Hi Gilly - I agree with the others - you have an amazing eye colour!

In terms of mascara, I find that the ones with the very thin applicator brush tend to clump a lot less. But with these ones, they tend to be more for lengthening rather than thickening. I have got Pout's mascara which has this thin brush. It doesn't clump on me at all, but doesn't really do much for thickening.

My HG mascara for lengthening/thickening at the moment is Stila's Major Lash mascara. I find it does a great job at both, with minimal clumping. When I apply mascara, I use the technique shown in this video (the video is actually how to do a smokey eye, but towards the end he applies mascara on the model & that's the technique I use).

I keep going back to Maybelline Full N Soft. It's more of a daytime mascara but it gives beautiful fullness and a little length, but doesn't clump or give that spidery look. It's got a big, almost fluffy brush. I tend to prefer fatter, fuller brushes almost universally.

I'll try to take some photos of my eyes with different mascara if I can figure out how to do close-ups.

I'm using two at the moment.
Benefit Bad Gal Lash - good at separating and lengthening but just boring. Not alot of color.
So I generally use this first then add..
Maybeline - Turbo Boost whatever it's called. Really good at thickening and adding color!!
