Hi,
I have recently started doing a weekly treatment on my hair which seems to be working really well.
I melt some virgin coconut oil and slather it all over my hair and scalp, cover it with a bag and leave it for a while (usually it also involves a glass of wine and a DVD!) then I shampoo and condition as usual and my hair is fabulous, the coconut oil is pretty anti all nasties so I am helping with any scalp issues too, overall I love this treatment and of course its a good excuse for some "me" time!! :clapping:

Sounds good Gilly. Yeah we are big on details here.
Do you put it on clean or dirty hair?
The bag on the head is throwing all sorts of images into my head! :chuckle: is this like a grocery shopping bag? Would make sense I guess if you could tie the handles under your chin? I have never been able to stop clingwrap sliding off my head. I imagine it would look luvrly too :chuckle: No pain no gain huh ;)

Hi,
Sorry! this is the brand I use
http://www.nuicoconut.com/australia/nui_skin_oil.htm
I bought a 1000ml tub of it early last year and although I use it for lods of things, I have still got at least a third of a tub left!
I actually dumped some on my hair ( dry, its less messy!) about half an hour ago, the bag thing is a bit odd, I can't get clingwrap to work either so I just put a supermarket plastic bag on my head catching the hair at the back first then I sort of make a turban out of it and put a microfibre turban towel over the whole lot, it does look a bit odd but not as bad as sitting there in a carrier bag! :chuckle:
Very easy to do and my hair loves it :glee:

No, I have only really used the coconut oil, I am very happy with it though.

A fingernail scraping is awesome on hair (solid coconut oil) but you have to be careful it doesn't melt and reset.. mine did this a couple of times and the smell becomes putrid..

I can't use coconut oil if I have got to go anywhere as I look like I have slept in a chip pan :chuckle: I have tried so many times to get less and less out but it always comes out the same so I just slap on loads for a few hours and that does the job!

An Indian woman told my friend to use a small fingernail scraping, if you can see it in your hair, you have used too much. You are meant to use a tinsy amount.

Me too - I adore the smell of coconut. Real coconut, not that overly perfumed, artificial coconut scent.

I don't personally like coconut very much and I don't gravitate towards anything that has coconut in it, but whenever anyone around me is wearing a coconutty smell, I can't get enough!

Calling all coconut lovers...
Can you help HoneyBear out in the Coconut and Frangipani thread? She is looking for a fragrance. Thanks!:waving:

The best source of Vitamin E is any coconut based coconut oil!
You should massage the scalp well with warm coconut hair oil at least twice a week. Before washing your hair wrap a steamed towel around your hair and then wash with a mild shampoo. It can do your hair wonders! And make it soft and silky. Alternatively you could use egg yolk after applying coconut oil as it enriches the hair with protein and makes it healthier.
Another tip which i read on http://www.healthyhaircareonline.com/ was that you could boil hibiscus flowers in coconut oil strain the flowers and apply the oil on your hair. This will further rejuvenate your hair and make it shiny and silky. Try this it works for me!
