OMG I have had a fake tanning freak out tonight.

I bought a new can of Fake Tan, called Le Tan in a Can, and I must have gone overboard on my lower body, because by the time I got to my right arm, I had none left!!!

Freaking out that I was going to have one white arm on a bronzed body, I grabbed some gel tanner and tried to fix it, but the textures did not work out together so I had to jump in the shower and srub the whole lot off!!

Now I have jumped out of the shower, my body is red and raw from the pre tan exfoliation and the post tanning scrub a thon

and I have a Grand Final BBQ on tomorrow and I wanted to look hot!!!!

AIHFQEFB*&!%#(^!%@^~!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am SOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATED!!!

Ohhh poor KP! I too have become red raw as a result of overscrubbing from trying to rectify a fake tan mishap!!!

The first thing I would do is slather on a heap of moisturiser just to calm your skin down. Then maybe you could do another layer of the gel tanner on the paler arm, to try and even it out??

EDIT: KP do you have an un-matching tan problem, or just a red raw skin problem???! Don't go offline, I am gonna sort this out with you until it's fixed!

Sorry OZ I was naughty and left without saying anything!!

OK after my skin calmed down i smoothed on my loreal Sublime gel, and woke up this morning nicely tanned. My skin is very irritated still so im going to have to lavish tlc on it the next few days!! Good excuse to buy a fabbo lotion today... ;)

my tan isnt very dark but I will just use the Estee Lauder Body bronzing stuff i bought which should make it a bit deeper...

Ozlicious

Awesome. I knew the irritation would go down. I remember once when my crush asked me to spend the next day with him, I decided to wear a sleeveless shirt and got all stressed and angry about my KP and scrubbed it til I was hideously red! It was so horrible! But anyway I slathered moisturiser on and the next day was right as rain. :) Our skin is pretty resilient I think - it has to be!

I am in LOVE with Le Tan in a Can. I rushed out and bought it after reading about Ozlicious's experiences of having an extremely strong fake tan smell with most products. I'm the same, for some reason the chemicals in my skin must do something freaky with fake tan chemicals because I seriously stink when I use most fake tans. And for someone like me who has a bad sense of smell that's truly saying something.

Well, I went out and got Le Tan in a Can and used it. Fabulous on so many fronts.

The smell when applying is quite pleasant, almost vanillery with a hint of cocoa butter. Then over the next 6-8 hours when the fake tan sits on my skin working away I notice a mild fake tan smell only. Mild! Woooooooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooooo!
The spray goes on coloured a deep bronze, as you spread it on your skin it dilutes but when I've applied it I immediately have a more golden colour.
Upon my second application the colour has turned a lovely bronze colour, not yellow like some, but neither is it so dark that I look ridiculous. Instead I look like I'm a naturally olive person.

NOW MY ADVICE RE APPLICATION...

I've found that using spray tans from a can never works if you follow the instructions on the can. What I do is put on my disposable gloves, spray the fake tan from the can onto one body part at a time (i.e. lower leg) quite close up (i.e. 5-10cm) and rub it in just like a cream fake tan. Sometimes I spray the tan into a cupped palm and then rub (my gloved) palms together and then rub onto the area if it's too hard to spray (i.e. back of the neck).

The wonderful thing is that using this close spray, rub it in method makes the can of fake tan last longer (I think it's because much less is sprayed into the air and more ends up directly on your body).

When I take my gloves off at the end I go and wash my hands paying particular attention to where the wrist meets the palm. And lastly I then get the back of my hands and rub them against the opposite forearm so I get some fake tan on the backs of my hands too.

PRE APPLICATION
I always apply a moisturiser around the drier areas of my body such as heels, toes, sides of feet, elbows, behind the ears, my underarms and sometimes at the very end when there's only a slight bit of moisturiser that's sunk into my palms I wipe my palms around my knee cap area.

Anyway peoples...let me know how you go with Le Tan in a Can.

I'm glad you liked it!! I must get another one some day!! The "no smell" thing was the biggest wow-factor for me, it's the only product to date that I can apply and then leave the house. Everything else smells like dead rat bum on me.

Actually, this is embarassing but I still haven't used my spray tan gun yet, I should give it a whirl... :redcheeks:

I KNOW! I'm same same. Smell atrocious! So excited to have found Le Tan in a Can and it's all thanks to an old post by you :kissing:

How hilarious about the spray tan gun! How much did it cost you (if you don't mind me asking)? And where would you get the fake tan from? I've never had a spray tan before (would rather spend the $40 on other stuff) does the spray gun spray a constant even amount? How hard would it be to do your back and neck? Could you do your face? I want you to go try it out right now and let us know how it goes. That's an order! :chuckle:

It was REALLY cheap, its rrp is $100 but I got it for $30 and got a $20 cashback! I also got two bottles of the tanning solution for $10. It goes on a charger (not on a little generator thing like spray guns in a booth) and yeah, I can't answer all your other quetions cos I haven't tried it yet!! I think you can spray your face though. I'm going to try it this afternoon!! Will report back!

I just had to post this cleaning tip just in case anyone else has suffered the same embarressing Fake Tan mishap that I have. I had a fake tan stain on my toilet seat. :redcheeks: I tried everything to remove it but nothing worked, bleach, nail polish remover, nothing! Then Shannon Lush (Spotless) saved me :hugs:
Get yourself some old fashioned GUMPTION from the cleaning aisle in the supermarket and Wal-a! Clean seat! :glee: She also reccomends polishing the seat with Almond oil to bring the shine back.
You know that toilet cleaning ad where the people stumble out of the bathroom blinded by the bright light?
That is me now :chuckle:

Gumption is wonderful! It's the only thing that gets a bath/sink spotless. Hey am I real freak or would anyone else love a thread on cleaning tips? I have Shannon Lush's spotless too and it is a God send!

I've gotta fess up I'm not particularly good at cleaning. I'd love to know how other people structure their cleaning schedule (i.e. how often they do different things, vacuum, mop, clean the fridge, wipe the skirting boards - does anyone do that cause I only do when I'm leaving a house LOL) as well as what products they use and recommend and any particular strategies.

I'm not very forum literate and don't even know if I can start a thread as a newbie. Any suggestions?

Well, I made a MAJOR tan boo-boo last night!! I planned to wear shorts today but I had to switch to jeans with the cuffs rolled up a bit, because I am missing a MAJOR white patch on the back of my calf. Whhhyyy?!! I really thought I was past these rookie mistakes! I can't believe it! I tried blending it down with mineral foundation and bronzer but it's still so obvious. I hate myself.

I had a similar thing in the UK, made by Rio, it gave the most amazing colour, even I managed to get a nice colour out of that!
Then I broke the gun and went back to creams and sprays! :shakehead:

Hehe. Get a bit of toner or nail polish remover on a pad, enough should come off to even them out.

Have to say, I have a PERFECT tan today! I am so proud of myself! Even my hands are good. The key to unblotchy feet and un-brown knees is DEFINITELY following Fake Bake's advice and putting a thin layer of oil onto your feet and knees and elbows before you start. It's the best on feet especially, stops them absorbing so much but they still get tanned.
