Do you want to buff them smooth or shiny? Its 2 different things.

Hi there,

There are a few buffers on the market, Manicare have several that are well priced and easy to use. Most buffers have at least three if not four "sides" or "finishes" that should be numbered to tell you in which order to use them.

Be very careful with a step one as this is the most abrasive and should only be used on nails with deep ridges in a very gentle and short fashion. The different steps have different grades so step 2 is designed to buff away slight ridges and smooth the surface of the nail. you may notice a powdery finish on using. This is your nail so remember to go easy!

The final two (or one) step is the high shine step and used to give the nails that shine.

There is an old fashioned (but still used) version called the chamois buffer that was used with an abrasive powdery paste. Whichever method you choose, be aware of what it is actually doing to your nails, yes it stimulates circulation but essentially what it does it wear down the thickness of the nails so use no more than once a week. You can use step three (or four depending on buffer) more frequently as this has no abrasive effect.

My favourite is the Nail Block from Manicare with four different sides and comes in a rectangular block shape and is closer to what nail technicians use.

Hope that has answered a few questions!:waving:

Fussy I get supplied by a gf who is a BT. I will try to find out who might retail them. I agree with M that the Manicare alternative is not as professional. :waving:
