I just noticed we don't have a product review thread for Bloom (what a travesty)!!

I recently bought some of the new Bloom skin care. I got the Weekend Away Pack from Adore and the Skin and Tonic mask tablets, Full sized Orange Cleansing Cream and Apricot Kernal Scrub from Myer.

I am so impressed with this new skin care range. It is excellent value for money and the products are fantastic. They also smell sensational. I am going to order all the other things I haven't got from the Bloom Skin Care range from Adore on Monday!

Orange Cream Cleanser - This thick rich textured cleanser smells gorgeous and feels so decadent on the skin. It seems quite hydrating and comforting to the skin and contains orange essential oil and witch hazel. I loved this cleanser so much that I just had to have the full size.

Apricot Kernal Scrub - Again this product smells fantastic. It is a cream based scrub with ingredients including ground walnut shells, apricot kernel oil and geranium essential oil. It is a great exfoliant and leaves the skin so soft and smooth after use. This is a great general scrub.

Face The Day Moisturising Ginseng Lotion - This is a feather light moisturiser and is perfect for my combination skin. It contains Ginseng, aloe vera, carrot extract and shea butter to moisturise and also contains essential oils of lavender, ylang ylang, may chang and geranium to calm and tone the skin. I really love this moisturiser and although it is quite light my skin seems to just absorbe it without any greasy or oily residue being left behind.

Vitamin E Body Cream - This contains shea butter, sweet almond oil, carrot extract and vitamin E. It is also scented with essential oils of yland ylang, geranium and may chang. It smells heavenly and makes my skin feel velevety soft.

Skin and Tonic Mask - This packaging concept is a bit weird. The masks come in a tablet form and turns into a cloth mask when put into water. I haven't tried one yet so will report back when I have given one a road test.

I think everyone wanting to try this skin care should purchase one of the weekend away packs from Adore Beauty. For just $25 it is excellent value for money and you get 4 x 50ml products which will last a while. This is Pinkcupcakes pick of the month:chuckle:!!

ooh is it similar to the St Iver Srcub - I do like that one but found it a tad harsh, this could be a nice option?

I must admit I don't think this scrub would be ideal is you want something very gentle as it certainly have some potent scrub factor. If you want some ideas for gentle scrubs let me know and I will recommend some for you.

Hi Loolabelle,
I love a good scrub too and must admit I haven't given my skin the easiest of times with using lots of different scrubs. However repeat after me "I must only exfoliate once or twice a week" or when my skin needs it.

You have got some good scrubs there with Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant and Skin Prep Scrub. I have both of these. The daily Microfoliant is designed to be used daily if you so desire. The Skin Prep Scrub is certainly one that should only be used once or twice a week as it is quite a rough textured one.

Here are some others to consider:

Dermalogica's Gentle Cream Exfoliant - This would be perfect for you as you apply it the same as a mask and just leave it for ten minutes then wash off (no scrubbing or massaging required). It is a gorgeous product and more like a slight chemical peel. This is always recommended to scrubaholics like you!! :chuckle:

Ole Henriksen New Beginning Scrub - This is one of the most gentle scrubs I have ever used. It feels like silk on your face and contains super gentle exfoliating beads. You couldn't hurt yourself with this scrub it is that gentle. I could send you a little sample of this if you would lik to try it.

L'Occitane Almon Apple Sweet Peel - This smells amazing and is the perfect consistency to me. It's not too gentle and not too harsh. After use my skin is the softest sweetest smelling skin around.

Benefit Pinapple Facial Polish - This smells so divine you could eat it. This is super gentle and very soft to massage into the skin. Even if you tried to scrub hard this scrub wouldn't damage your skin because it is so gentle.

Oh a sample would be like Christmas!!! Can you be my older sister? hehe.

The Ole and Benefit one really appeal. I have the Gentle Cream Exfoliant - it's quite funny actually, since my skin has decided to have a hiatus and I've been unwell, whenever I use this (once a week) when I take it off, I look like i have a red mask on - with skin coloured nostrils and around the eyes hehehe! Not giving up on it yet, will wait a bit and look for another mask i can use in the interim because i LOVED how my skin was after using it previosuly - soft as a babies be-hind!

Hi Serena :waving:

I think Kate has worn the lightest one and she usually wears UC mineral foundation in beige, if that helps.

I have not tried the skincare (yet!) but I will do a quick review on a few other things:

lip glosses - This is probably no surprise but these are among the best glosses I have ever tried because they smell amazing, they do not dry out the lips, they are not too sticky or too runny or too glittery etc.

pencil eyeliners - I have dark brown and blue. The brown is by far the best eyeliner I have used. Glides right on, does not smudge (although it does bleed a tad by end of the day) and is easily removed. The blue one however seems to be made from a different material - it is much more difficult to apply and I have to really press it into the lid, which tickles my nerves. Not sure why they are different - it may just be that particular blue pencil I bought.

blotting papers are also lovely and smell great.

The Bloom Make Up Bags reminded me of my Bloom Room Sprays I purchased from Myer in Melbourne. The room sprays are gorgeous and really look like a big 100ml bottle of perfume. They only cost $30 and I have them in:

Vanilla Bean

Brown Sugar and Fig

Green Tea and Bergamot

The smell they leave lasts a long time and they are also lovely to spray over bed linnen etc.

The Room Sprays also come in Lavender (but I'm not a Lavender Girl).

Same, i am not a huge fan of room sprays because you spray them once and five minutes later the smell is gone. *shrug* And you don't want to be constnatly spraying....I prefer candles or oils or reed diffusers.

Each to their own but I layer my home fragrances and have the candles going with the matching room spray or oils. I love an intense aroma.

I think of room sprays a bit like Demeter Fragrances, they smell great but they don't last but boy I enjoy them whilst they do. I see them as a quick pick me up just like the Demeter Fragrances which coincidently I also use as room sprays.

Garden of Hespera is a very strange smell, almost unisex. Not sure if I'm that into it but it would probably be a nice not-too-sweet room spray!

Oooh I bet a Bloom concept store would be gorgeous and fun. And 80 nail polishes, wa-wa-wee-wa! :shockedhair:

I didn't go either until the very last week but being Hobart very few people buy candles for pleasure they usually just buy them for power failure:chuckle::chuckle: So there were plenty left!

I am naughty as I have been known to spray my own perfume into a room or onto my clothes (when not in them or planning to wear them). I have the Crabtree and Evelyn India Hicks Island Living fragrance diffuser at the moment and I can barely smell it...does anyone have any luck/hints re fragrance diffusers?

Nope, my only advice would be to put them in a small room (like the bathroom, if you have space! :chuckle:) or on a hall table so people catch a momentary whiff as they walk by. If I put them in the middle of a large-ish (or even average) room, I can't smell a thing.

I bought 2 of these yesterday! One in Ginger, the other Greta. I'm going to try them tonight or tomorrow :glee:

Well they have my seal of approval :chuckle:
Ginger is quite shimmery - more so than I expected. It looks lovely on my fingernails too - very easy to apply, a consistency and ease of use similar to OPI (although I do prefer OPI to Bloom polishes) Dries quickly too
Anyone else bought these or used them?

Ozlicious
27-03-2008, 09:08 PM
From the pictures they look like they have the same heavy ceramic-type lids that OPI has, is this right?

emmy
27-03-2008, 09:13 PM
No they are smaller, lighter and plasticy. They are also in 12ml as opposed to 15ml in the OPI.

I find OPI polishes to be quite thick.

Yesterday I picked up Blooms Clean With Envy Green Clay Mask. I have just used it and I must say I am very impressed with it.

My skin feels super clean, hydrated and so soft.

It has quite a thick texture, comes in a pot and dries nicely. It's not one of those clay masks that go tight and make you feel like your face is going to crack. It dries to a deep Khaki colour (a very noice look I might add:chuckle:) and is easy to remove with warm water and a face cloth.

It contains Kaolin Clay, Sweet Almond Oill and Rosehip Oil to nourish and hydrate as well as Lavender and Petigrain essential oils to calm and sooth the skin.

At just $24 for a 100g tub this mask is excellent value for money. It is available here at Adore also.

I used a sample of the Almond Cleansing oil last night, i have mixed feelings.

I liked it and it made my skin nice and soft but i would have preferred it to go milky when i used it with some water. All my make-up came off so i found it effective, but i probably won't buy it.
