I have recently gone from dark highlighted blonde hair to dark brown all over hair and i am very pale so i'm a little confused to as the colours and looks i should be creating on my face. I have freckles aswell so i can't wear pink or red colours.

I remeber readind in the Beautyista thread about people not changing there make-up when they change hair colour, i don't want that to be me.

So all you brunettes out ther i need help!!!

PP you said you were pale and you can't wear pinks or berries, so I'm assuming you're pretty warm. In this case, I would definitely go the peaches-and-cream route!!! This means:
- Keeping your complexion as clean and clear as possible - use only enough foundation to create a beautiful clear canvas.
- Playing up your eyes in an understated way. Mascara is a must, and also a little black eyeliner on the outer corners of your eyes. I would possibly add a little eyeshadow in a warm champagne colour. I find that with dark hair and pale skin, eyes can get lost very easily. Although it seems like a lot, I have to wear black mascara and black eyeliner every day, otherwise my face has no focus because I am quite pale too.
- You definitely have to go for a beautiful warm blush in a peach/apricot tone. There are millions around and it will be easy to find.
- A beautiful nude glossy lip. DONE!
- Oh, and don't forget your eyebrows!! Have them tinted and then fill them in if need be.

I am a brunette through and through - brunette's do it better hehe! My makeup bag is ALWAYS different to my friends who are all mainly blonde (seriously - I have pictures up around my house and people are always amazed and ask 'Are ALL your friends blonde??")

I am fair to medium skin aswell, and like a clean fresh base, a nice highliger - I am a huge fan of lashing of mascara, a great natural shade on the lid (I use "Jest" by MAC - it's beautiful and lasting), and I so love my liquid liner! But it's all actually pretty low key and simple - cheeks i go for a pink lok rather than a peach, i find peach and coral doesn't suit my skin and hair tones at all. I use Becca Creme Blush in Rosebud, Nars Orgasm, and also MAC Bronzer in places. Lips I use MAC Lu Be Lu which is a glossy light raspberry and really works well with the green eyes and dark hair. That's the kind of basic thing i use for work and day to day, sometimes i change the eyeshadow but normally i hold back on the eyes unless I'm going out!

Oh - I forgot to ask! What do you do now/when you had blonder hair???

I second the NARS Orgasm blush. PP this is beautiful, suits almost all skin tones and has a light shimmer. Really brightens up the face.

Also don't hide your freckles, I think they're gorgeous! Def go a light cover, with a peachy blush it will be so pretty.

You really can't wear pinks...? What about a light, ballerina pink on the cheeks (Benefit Dandelion would be perfect for this - it's really, really light) and something sheer on lips?

I love this blush!
It is constantly voted the worlds favourite Brand and Shade. :hugs:

Yes Orgasm is the best (hehe, snicker) - it's a fantastic blush, thankfully on me its more pinky. Def go from some pinks as with the dark hair and freckles would look gorgeous! I'm also not a huge fan of peaches and corals anyway, especially with my dark hair.

I have been keen to try Dandlion by benefit - thoughts??

You definitely should! I am never without it. It's a very sheer, almost translucent pink and comes in a gorgeous box. Great for 'no makeup-makeup' days.

hehe don't you love how no makeup days still involve it! I LOVE my Nars Orgasm, i have my eye on the benefit but i think my money atm is better going towards getting some Ultraceuticals to try that and some new shampoo and conditioner.

With darker hair you can do all of these looks and more. You can totally rock the smokey eye look.
If you have freckles, google Lindsey Lohan for ideas.

When i had dark blonde hair which was quite dark underneath. I would always have a clean base with a highlighter mixed in because my skin is so pale i just need that extra help in the glow department and then i would use dark brown eyelinder and brown shimmer eyeshadow with of course lots of mascara. I was really getting into the baby pink shimmery blush on my cheeks with a natural pink glossy lip.

Now when i do the same i feel like a goth or a vampire

I can wear pinks but i have to be very fussy to get the right shade, i'm finding baby pink on the cheeks does work and sheer pinks on my lips. Never ever can i put any kind of pink on my eye lids, i look like a cheap tramp that has an eye infection.

I just wish i had a make-up person to do my make-up like hers every day. She is always so bronzed but i am so scared of tanning and bronzing because i don't wanna look fake.

Go to a make up counter & get some advice. Often they will give you a mini makeover if they are quiet. Listen intently & ask lots of questions. Actually go to a few different counters. Its good to get a variety of opinions & trial different brands.

That's a great idea! And don't do what I do and feel bad for the time they've spent and buy things without thinking - I did that at Laura Mercier once and boy did i pay for it - i got home so excited about th foundations and powders adn concealers only to realise after 2 days they were AWFUL!! Go to a few different and get them to right down key products you like then go home and think about it.

Really?? How sad =( Though I'm staying at my parents house atm interstate and our local myer i think still uses those old fashion swipey credit card machines hehehe. And thats just in the suburbs! I love going to the Becca counter, they always will do something on me and are not pushy at all - they even send you home with samples and tell you to come back when you know what is best!

Yes, try to resist purchasing on the spot, esp with face products like foundation. You absolutely must check the colour in true daylight & see how your skin likes it also. SAs understand this.

You don't really need to go to the big guns, any counter will do. You want ideas to get the ball rolling.

Practise makes perfect PP! If you want to do the bronzed thing, just keep practising it every day. If you want to do the smokey eyes, practise all the time! I swear, nothing makes you more skillful and confident with makeup than just doing it. Also, if you want to add a bit more tan or colour to your face, try a tanneriser for the face like Holiday Skin or Nivea!

Me too, that is why I go down the tanning moisturisers route rather than the full-on fake tan route. The tannerisers for the face are practically foolproof, it takes about two or three days to really notice any difference on me - and they so don't look like you have fake tanned, it just looks like your face has developed a bit more colour somehow.

I'm not game he he he I don't wanna scare you girls off me!!!!
Nah i don't have a computer at home and do all this at work so i would get in trouble for stuffing around with the camera etc.

Sorry girls!!! I i go to a make-up counter and ask for them to show me products i should use for the bronzed look, they should be able to help me?

I hear that! I find pink is very difficult for my eyes too. I bought a Stila eyeshadow a couple of months ago that was a shimmery pink; when I wore it to work, I was asked not once but three times if I had hay fever. So not the look I was going for.

I am getting darker too. I used to have gothically pale skin and now I can see it darkening so I figure I may as well roll with it. I have been using Holiday Skin and Nivea Summer Beauty - both are cheap and both do the job while moisturising fairly decently at the same time. My only issue is that they are not oil-free, and I have very oily skin and end up looking fairly slick. But I only use them at night, so no-one needs to see me... I am going to try out the Ultraceuticals one that PCC gave me though! Will update!

Maybe go the spray tan for your first go, and then keep it up with DIY products? That way you can learn the skill of artful application but any streaks won't be too noticeable (because your skin will be all lovely and golden underneath).

Well last night i bought he Nivea Summer beauty gradual tanner for my face. What a funny story i have for you.

I was lying in bed reading the box etc and i wanted to see the consisitency of it so i tried to squeeze some out and it would come out, so l looked down the barrel, so to speak and squeezed a bit hard. It was clogged so when i squeezed it a huge big stream shot out onto my face, my hair and my pillow. I was luck y it didnt get in my eye, so i'm off to a good start with the whole tanner bizzo.

Yes the pink can! It smells really yummy, it has a bronzer in it so when you spray your brown straight away while the self tan is developing underneath (just make sure you dont spray then get caught in the rain, all the bronzer will streak and run :chuckle:) so let it develop for 6-8 hrs (so try and spray in the mornings) then just have a shower that evening and you will see the bronzer coming off in the shower and youll be all yummy and brown underneath! phew...:typing:

I am an unatural streaky mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used the palmers gradual tanner on my body which to me isn't that gradual. i woke up the next day all brown and streaky because i did the worse application i've ever seen in my life, i tried really hard to get it right but i still stuffed it up. So i did a little patch up againlast night and its not so bad. But i think i'm going to try the modelco tan in a can now because i was worried it might be too dark but now that i've seen myself brown i'm loving it.

Now for the Nivea summer beauty for your face, i've only used it one so far because i was sick all day yesterday so i was in bed but it seems to be good becasue it really is gradual, which i like. I like the textur eof the cream and it really makes my skin to smooth ans silky.

I now have a question about the modelco tan in a can, do you have to rub it in???? Also for those out there who have already tried it and loved it tips would be appreciated.

Well i'm thinking i don't have a husband or boyfriend to help spray my back so the next best thing is my sister. So i've decided to ask her to do my back and legs etc and i'll do hers. I'm sure she will, because she's always nagging me about how white i am all year round.
